This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”Are you sure?”

Du Heng looked back at Li Qin. ”Please don’t insult my professionalism. I told you at lunch that your director’s mouth was crooked and he showed signs of a stroke. With all that rage, it must be another case of exuberant liver fire. Heavy fire and qi deficiency disrupt the smooth flow of the meridians. Now he’s drinking alcohol, which numbs the nerves and greatly increases Dregs Qi. It would be strange if he didn’t have a stroke.”

Li Qin looked at the crowd huddling toward the car and asked worriedly, ”Is it serious?”

”I can’t say for sure. If the diagnosis is accurate and the medication timely, there shouldn’t be any major problem. Even any after-effects shouldn’t be a significant hindrance. But if the treatment isn’t timely or the medication is wrong, your Director Jia might end up with facial paralysis and hemiplegia.”

Li Qin hurriedly said, ”Should I have them stop so you can treat him?” Realizing this suggestion was inappropriate, he quickly added, ”Never mind, let’s send him to the hospital. Oh, I just don’t know if this movie can still be filmed.”

Li Qin was a little distressed, then turned to look at Feng Su and Wu Shengnan. Wu Shengnan was fine; for her, it was just playful entertainment. But Feng Su was different; she treated it as her job.

Seeing Li Qin’s gaze, she smiled. ”It’s okay, don’t look like that. It’s best if we can film, but if we can’t, we’ll find another opportunity.”

As Du Heng watched the car speed away, he turned to Li Qin and asked, ”Shall we go too? If there’s no other way, we’ll squeeze in somewhere. When we can get a taxi outside, we’ll change cars.”

Li Qin nodded. ”Let’s go and wait for news.”

Du Heng received a notice from the Quan City Health Department, and Guan Bo also received a notice from his uncle. Besides the matter of informing the Health Department, his uncle also gave Guan Bo a thick stack of materials.

”Take these materials back and study them carefully. The day after tomorrow morning, our hospital will host an exchange event with the visitors from Jinzhou. I hope you can bring honor to our hospital then.”

Holding the materials, Guan Bo listened to Tang Yinglong’s words, a bitter taste in his mouth. His private contest with Du Heng had transformed into an exchange of experiences between two regions. Especially looking at the materials in his hand, his stomach churned. He knew what these materials were.

To accept or not? To look or not? Would it be an unfair victory?

However, this was just a slight ripple in his heart; it wouldn’t affect his choice.

Since he had accepted it, looking at it was a foregone conclusion.

In this situation, if he couldn’t win against Du Heng, then his reputation would be utterly ruined.

Without any unnecessary words, Guan Bo took the materials back to his dormitory, closed the door, and began to check each patient’s information and the already written diagnoses.

When Guan Bo left Tang Yinglong’s office, his junior fellow apprentice in the Capital received another phone call.

”Dear, how far has it progressed? I can’t hide it from the Teacher any longer on my end.” As soon as the call connected, the junior fellow apprentice began to inquire anxiously. Just moments ago, he had received another call from Lan Changhua, and from the sound of his voice, Lan was already very upset. If he kept stalling, Lan Changhua might show up at his door directly. At that point, everything he had done would be meaningless.

”I heard that the Health Department in Jinzhou has contacted us. They helped Du Heng with an exchange and studying project, so his medical practice qualification in Quanzhou is no longer a problem. Our hospital has also found the patients. My classmate also helped me confirm that Deputy Dean Tang had her Teacher secretly write diagnoses for the volunteers found from their hospital. Furthermore, when Guan Bo came out just now, I saw him holding a thick stack of papers, which should be those patients’ materials and diagnoses.”

A smile finally touched the junior fellow apprentice’s lips. Sure enough, just as I thought. My good senior brother couldn’t resist taking this step. ”Dear, find a chance to photograph those materials now. Make sure you don’t get caught. Alright, the Teacher is coming out now. I’m hanging up.”

Zhang Dewen stared intently at the junior fellow apprentice before him. The junior fellow apprentice felt a little flustered but still said, ”Teacher, this is my fault. I was so engrossed in reading outside this morning that I didn’t notice what was happening online. If I had checked the internet earlier, you would have been able to stop Guan from acting recklessly.”

Zhang Dewen suddenly sighed and looked away. ”Forget it. It’s pointless to talk about it now. We still have a meeting to attend. We’ll discuss this after the meeting.”

Turning towards the bathroom, Zhang Dewen used the toilet and then re-entered the conference room.

Once his junior fellow apprentice saw Zhang Dewen return to the conference room, he took out his mobile phone and dialed Guan Bo’s number. The moment the call connected, the junior fellow apprentice’s voice grew urgent, ”Guan, I’m sorry, but the Teacher knows about your situation now.”

Guan Bo, on the other end of the phone, was silent for a moment before replying, ”It’s okay. The Teacher knowing just means he knows. What’s done is done; no one can change it now.”

The junior fellow apprentice continued anxiously, ”Guan, when you have a moment later, call our Teacher and apologize, or he’ll get really angry. Also, I heard the hospital has already found volunteers. You can also ask the Teacher to help review them.”

Guan Bo glanced at the materials in his hand, then considered his junior fellow apprentice’s suggestion. He no longer felt ashamed. Besides, Zhang Dewen had always been his biggest support. At this stage, why not rely on him?

”Thank you, junior fellow apprentice, for reminding me,” Guan Bo said gratefully to his junior fellow apprentice. ”Junior fellow apprentice, do you know when the Teacher will be available today?”

”Guan, I’m not sure about the Teacher’s exact schedule, but Professor Lan also looked for him today. It’s probably about the matter between you and Du Heng.” The junior fellow apprentice deliberately paused. ”I’m afraid that if Professor Lan gets involved, the Teacher will remain neutral. Knowing his personality, he would definitely agree to that, which would be very unfair to you. How about this, Guan? After the Teacher finishes the meeting, I’ll message you. Call him immediately. Then, sincerely apologize to him and ask for his advice. What do you think?”

Guan Bo was very grateful to his junior fellow apprentice; he felt that this junior fellow apprentice genuinely cared for him.

After hanging up, the junior fellow apprentice didn’t put his mobile phone away immediately but continued to send messages for a while.

At 4:30 in the afternoon, Zhang Dewen left the conference room, his face etched with exhaustion. The continuous meetings and lectures were truly taxing for someone of Zhang Dewen’s age. His observant junior fellow apprentice rushed over to support the old man the moment he came out. And because he was so tired, the old man didn’t ask about Guan Bo.

The junior fellow apprentice breathed a sigh of relief. While they were walking downstairs, he first sent a message to his girlfriend, then messaged Guan Bo.

Just as they reached the car downstairs, Guan Bo’s call came through. The junior fellow apprentice walked over to Zhang Dewen with the mobile phone and whispered, ”Teacher, Guan is calling.”

Zhang Dewen said nothing, merely taking the mobile phone calmly. The junior fellow apprentice, very discreetly, didn’t get into the car. Instead, he helped Zhang Dewen close the car door, then walked away, lighting a cigarette. As he departed, a particularly bright smile played on his lips.

The phone call lasted nearly an hour. Guan Bo, who was initially being scolded and had a grim face, gradually broke into a smile.

His junior fellow apprentice’s advice had indeed worked. The Teacher, indeed, still deeply cared for this direct disciple of his. Although the scolding was harsh, he had also provided the necessary assistance.

As Guan Bo hung up the phone, he felt a surge of confidence and immense gratitude toward his junior fellow apprentice.

”Doctor Guan, there’s someone downstairs looking for you.”

Before he could fully savor the feeling, a girl pushed the door open and entered.

Guan Bo was in a good mood. He smiled at the girl, then got up and walked towards the dormitory entrance, casually saying, ”Thank you.”

As he turned the corner towards the elevator, Guan Bo suddenly remembered that the mobile phone he had just used was still on the table. Thinking that the dormitory wasn’t far, he turned back to get his mobile phone.
