This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Zhang Dewen was an experienced old man, and such a scene was of little significance to him.

However, today Lan Changhua was here, and the loss of face was a little bigger than usual.

But to save face from Du Heng, it seemed that his identity was not very useful.

As for his industry status...

Would he still have an industry status after being messed up by Guan Bo?

”Guan Bo didn’t consider all aspects, leaving many loopholes due to his lack of skill. However, since Doctor Du Heng just pointed out the problems, he must have a clear idea.”

Zhang Dewen laughed. ”If it’s convenient for Doctor Du, could you please share your thoughts? Let Guan Bo, this young man, gain some knowledge and get to know someone as outstanding as you at the same age. It will help suppress his arrogance by making him realize he’s not the only gifted one.”

The old man’s skills in changing the subject and being passive-aggressive were really smooth.

Lan Changhua wanted to mediate for Du Heng, but Du Heng didn’t give him a chance and directly said, ”Please let Sir Zhang help me oversee this.”

”I dare not call it overseeing, but let’s discuss it together.” Zhang Dewen was still polite, and Du Heng was no longer aggressive.

After taking a breath, Du Heng directly said, ”Regarding Doctor Guan’s description of the condition, I think the direction is correct, but not comprehensive.”

”Oh?”

Everyone’s eyes were drawn to this.

They all thought Du Heng would completely overturn Guan Bo’s point of view, but it turned out to be this conclusion.

Even Zhang Dewen was surprised by this sentence.

An aggressive young man, challenging authority and overturning authority—this is the fastest way to rise in rank. Unexpectedly, Du Heng didn’t do this.

Only Lan Changhua laughed aloud.

Guan Bo’s point of view must have been approved and sorted out by Zhang Dewen behind the scenes, so it could also be considered Zhang Dewen’s point of view. If a National Medical Master’s opinion didn’t have some truth to it, then the title of National Medical Master would be worthless. On the other hand, Du Heng was a practical person who looked down on dirty means. Otherwise, people wouldn’t have dared to throw the tumor formula directly to him.

”Doctor Cao’s condition is caused by the overflowing yin fire. This can be explained by the pulse in both hands and the situation with the eye pain.”

Du Heng’s expression was serious and focused. ”However, I do not agree with the diagnosis of yin fire rising, as I believe it is incomplete.”

Guan Bo, who had just been rebutted, couldn’t help but speak, ”Please enlighten us with your brilliant diagnosis.”

Du Heng ignored Guan Bo’s sarcastic tone. Feeling that arguing with someone like Guan Bo was beneath his level, he said, ”My diagnosis is kidney fire invading the lung. This means lung fire and kidney water combine but don’t separate, resulting in the symptoms Doctor Cao is experiencing.”

Zhang Dewen looked thoughtful, his brow furrowed slightly.

But Guan Bo just wanted to save face, even a little bit would do. ”Nonsense! Since when does eye disease have anything to do with the lungs?”

Then, he stared at Du Heng. ”Since you have an answer, let’s hear your explanation for the question you just asked. Why is there green in the patient’s eyes?”

Du Heng laughed. This is really not giving up until the Yellow River. ”The kidney is the child of the lung, and the lung is the mother of the kidney. When two fires conflict, it’s a conflict between child and mother. The specific severity of such a conflict, be it light or heavy, is not the crucial factor here.

However, looking at Doctor Cao’s eyes, the opacity grows from the bottom up. This indicates it’s the child offending its mother, a case of the inferior attacking the superior.”

Guan Bo snorted, ”You still haven’t explained why it’s green.”

”The kidney governs the color black, while the lung governs the color white. The combination of white and black results in green. Do you understand now?”

”Nonsense! How could black and white combine to turn—”

Guan Bo didn’t finish his sentence when Zhang Dewen, next to him, scolded with a dark face, ”Shut up and listen carefully!”

It was so embarrassing. In traditional Chinese medicine, the Five Colors aren’t just about pure colors. Such a disgrace for a student of a National Medical Master.

Du Heng and Lan Changhua exchanged glances and laughed. Du Heng continued, ”Now let’s talk about the last question: why can’t Doctor Cao see.”

”Kidney fire invades the lung, causing a conflict between child and mother, which completely suppresses the rising liver qi.”

”The liver is the child of the kidney. Their relationship is one of mutual nourishment and transformation between essence and blood. We mentioned this when chatting with Sir Zhang earlier; it should be Sir Zhang’s expertise. Since Doctor Guan is his student, I won’t presume to teach a master.”

Du Heng paused briefly before looking at Guan Bo. ”With kidney fire invading the lungs and fighting it out, the liver qi is suppressed and can’t interact with the liver. The liver qi is then completely unable to break through the obstacles. This is the reason for the lack of spirit in the eyes.”

Balanced Qi Movement? This is Balanced Qi Movement. Du Heng’s move is like dancing with a broadsword in front of Guan Yu. Not only dancing but also playing with it skillfully.

Zhang Dewen exhaled heavily, his spirit and expression forming two extremes.

His proudest theory was not put to use by his own student, and even he himself made a mistake. This was an extremely humiliating incident, as if Du Heng had slapped him resoundingly. But on the other hand, thinking that someone could skillfully apply his theory, this was definitely a matter of great consolation for him. For a moment, he became quite conflicted.

At this time, on the sick bed, Cao Binghe, who had been silent all the time, also sat up.

He couldn’t deduce the problem of his illness; that was an issue of his own skill and ability. But he could understand what Du Heng said, and he could make sense of it; that was a testament to his knowledge. He knew that this time, he should have found the right path.

Now, when Du Heng stopped talking, he hurriedly asked, ”Doctor Du, what medicine should I use? How should I be treated?”

Du Heng smiled. ”When the mother is strong, the child dares not offend. The treatment method should be to nourish the mother and calm the child.”

”However, kidney fire attacking the lungs affects not only the liver meridian but also the other meridians, which will surely be imbalanced.”

”Therefore, we need to nourish the lung metal to suppress the kidney and adjust the other meridians to isolate the kidney fire.”

After explaining the treatment plan, Du Heng paused once again, reviewing the prescription he had already formulated in his mind.

At this time, the young doctor who had spoken earlier, seeing Du Heng in casual clothes, took out a pen and paper from his pocket and handed it to Du Heng.

Du Heng smiled back. After taking the pen, he looked at Guan Bo again. Fearing Guan Bo might interrupt, Du Heng said directly, ”The prescription uses ophiopogon and asparagus to nourish the lungs, then licorice and platycodon to expel pathogenic factors from the lungs.”

”Then, use scutellaria baicalensis to reduce lung fire. This strengthens the lung qi, making it difficult for the kidney fire to invade.”

”Also, add poria to drain fire from the bladder. Use sweet wormwood to drain heat from the stomach and spleen. White peony will calm the liver and gallbladder qi, and salvia will clear inflammation from the heart. In this way, the five viscera and six bowels will be cooled, and the kidney fire will have no place to wreak havoc.”

”Without accomplices and no environment to cause trouble, it will no longer have the conditions to rebel from below.”

While speaking, Du Heng quickly wrote down the prescription, marking the dosage and decoction method on it.

After writing it down, Du Heng handed the prescription to Lan Changhua. ”Professor Lan, I estimate that with this prescription, the green color should recede after one dose, the opacity should disperse after two doses, and vision should be restored. After ten doses, he should be cured and unlikely to relapse easily.”

Lan Changhua looked at the prescription in his hand, feeling a myriad of emotions.

Did he believe in Du Heng’s prescription? Half-believing and half-doubting. But compared to the prescription Guan Bo had written earlier, Du Heng’s prescription had a much higher credibility, three or four levels higher.

At this point, Guan Bo was still unwilling to give up. However, as Zhang Dewen’s student, he could understand what Du Heng said and couldn’t find any flaws in it, so he knew Du Heng was right.

But he still muttered, ”Effective after one dose? That’s quite a boast.”

However, now he could only mutter and didn’t dare to speak out loud anymore.

But Zhang Dewen, next to him, heard it. After glaring at Guan Bo, he took a deep breath and composed himself.

Looking at Lan Changhua, he said, ”Professor Lan, may I see the prescription Doctor Du wrote?”

Lan Changhua was slightly surprised but still handed it over with a smile. ”Of course.”

Looking at Du Heng’s prescription, Zhang Dewen’s eyes trembled slightly. He now understood the boldness of Du Heng’s prescribing.

Finally, he couldn’t help but say, ”The dosage is indeed heavy, yet perfectly appropriate. With the sovereign, minister, and assistant components not competing, the medicinal effect is maximized.”

”Daring and meticulous. Truly impressive.”

Du Heng and Lan Changhua both looked at Zhang Dewen with some surprise.

This compliment was really unexpected for both of them.
