This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng glanced at Feng Su’s face.

However, Feng Su’s thick makeup completely concealed her natural skin tone, making it impossible to discern anything. A thick layer of foundation on her face obscured her true complexion. Around her eyes, colorful eyeshadow and long false eyelashes offered no clues. As for her lips, beneath the alluring red, apart from visible lip lines, no other details could be observed.

Given the setting, it wasn’t appropriate to ask Feng Su to open her mouth and stick out her tongue, so Du Heng said, ”Let me take your pulse.”

Feng Su was now very familiar with this procedure. As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, she had already placed her arm in the most suitable position.

To avoid appearing conspicuous, Du Heng completed the examination quickly.

”It’s nothing serious. Just reduce your exposure to air conditioning during the day, and try not to sleep with it on at night.” Du Heng paused, glanced at Feng Su, then continued, ”And no sexual activity. Preferably abstain for three months.”

Feng Su’s earlobes reddened at his words, and she whispered, ”Just once.”

Du Heng sighed. ”According to my instructions, not even half an instance is permissible. But it’s your body; whether you listen or not is up to you. However, I must be very clear: if any complications arise later, don’t come to me expecting me to fix the aftermath. Because by then, there will be nothing I can do.”

Feng Su quickly nodded in agreement, her head bowed.

Du Heng looked at the downcast Feng Su and said with a degree of helplessness, ”We explained this to you when you were discharged from the hospital. We weren’t trying to scare you with alarmist talk. You need to understand that the tumor-dissolving medicine I prescribed for you consists of potent, hypertoxic medicines; otherwise, the mass couldn’t have been broken down and eliminated by acting on the blood. The reason you appear fine now is that I used other supplementary medicines to balance and enhance your overall physical condition. However, you must understand that those hypertoxic medicines all acted on your reproductive system. Although they cured the disease, they also left your entire reproductive system extremely fragile and vulnerable to injury. If any new lesion were to occur, regardless of the specifics, it would be a devastating blow to you. At that point, the concern wouldn’t be whether your fertility could be preserved, but whether your life could be saved.”

After Du Heng finished speaking, Feng Su nodded earnestly, promising she would definitely heed his advice this time.

Seeing Feng Su’s assurance, Du Heng didn’t say anything more. After all, if a person doesn’t cherish their own body, whatever others say is futile.

Later, Feng Su insisted on treating Du Heng to dinner, even choosing a French restaurant with a more romantic ambiance.

Du Heng wasn’t accustomed to French cuisine and ate sparingly, picking at his food while Feng Su described the characteristics of each dish.

Halfway through the meal, Feng Su received a video call from Li Qin.

”Wow, Susu, you’re really living it up!”

”Hehe, guess who I’m having dinner with?”

But Li Qin, despite her initial surprise, had no interest in guessing. She knew Feng Su far too well; without even needing to think, she was certain that given Feng Su’s attire at that moment, a man was sitting across from her.

”I don’t have time to guess, nor do I want to. I’m calling you about something important.” Li Qin on the video immediately became serious and composed.

Feng Su also put down her cutlery and said earnestly, ”Go ahead, I’m listening.”

”You know about the drama I’m filming, right?”

”I know, it’s being filmed at East Hill.”

”Good that you know. Yesterday, an actress had an incident, so a role opened up. I recommended you to the director. He said it’s okay and wants you to come for an audition tomorrow. If there are no issues, we’ll head out together the day after tomorrow.”

When Li Qin finished, Feng Su immediately perked up, asking eagerly, ”What kind of role is it? Does it have many scenes? How much is the pay?”

Li Qin rolled her eyes at her. ”It’s considered the third female lead, with plenty of scenes from beginning to end. It’s just that the character is the type people tend to dislike. As for the pay, you can discuss that with the director yourself.”

Feng Su hesitated for a moment. ”The character isn’t likable?”

Li Qin looked at Feng Su speechlessly, then glanced around before lowering her voice. ”Good heavens, if the character were likable, do you think it would be your turn? What does it matter if the character is likable or not? What you should be doing right now is not being picky about any role. Instead, work hard to get yourself on screen and increase your exposure. Susu, this isn’t the time to be picky. Or do you genuinely not want to act and prefer to just focus on those... things you’re doing now?”

Feng Su was a little irritated by Li Qin’s words. ”What do you mean, ’those things I’m doing now’? Selling products through live broadcast is a legitimate business too, okay?”

Li Qin waved her hand impatiently. ”I’m not here to argue with you. You know what I’m talking about. I just have one question for you: do you want this role or not? If you do, then stop talking nonsense, pack your things, and come to East Hill to find me immediately. If you don’t, just hang up, and I’ll inform the director so we don’t waste his time.”

Feng Su pursed her lips, thought for no more than five seconds, then nodded. ”I want it.”

”Then stop dawdling and pack your things right now.”

”I can’t leave right now; I’m having dinner with an important friend.”

Li Qin looked at Feng Su with exasperation, as if wishing she could magically make her more ambitious. ”Which of your friends *isn’t* ’important’? Hurry up! If you delay any longer, there won’t be any plane tickets left.”

Feng Su suddenly broke into a smile. ”I’m not kidding you. Just take a look at who it is, and you’ll understand.”
