This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng’s legs were a little sore from squatting, so he slowly stood up. ”There are many needles. Some are to help with hemostasis, and some are to stimulate liver activity.

The hemostasis works by controlling blood flow to the liver, preventing continuous bleeding from the ruptured area.

But if the liver is deprived of blood for a long time, it may lead to necrosis. That’s why some of the needles also stimulate liver activity.”

The auntie gently nodded. ”So acupuncture can do that too. Then I don’t need to worry.”

Du Heng shook his head and said, ”Auntie, my current method can only solve the immediate problem. Your current issue must be repaired through surgery. Otherwise, the liver won’t be able to handle it for long.”

”That’s alright. As long as the bleeding is controlled and the liver remains active, the chances of successful liver repair are much higher, and any after-effects can essentially be ignored. So, I’m not worried anymore.”

Hearing the auntie say this, Du Heng looked at her. ”Do you know medical science too?”

”Just a little, just a little.”

Just a little?

Du Heng couldn’t help but chuckle. Even now, this auntie was still trying to put on airs.

At this moment, Wu Shengnan whispered, ”Don’t dawdle here; there’s still one more in the coach.”

”Another one?” Du Heng was taken aback.

Wu Shengnan pulled Du Heng towards the coach, whispering, ”This one is the most dangerous. A wooden stick pierced her left lower abdomen, entering the abdominal cavity. After we helped her sit up, we didn’t dare move her.”

”A wooden stick?”

”Yes, a thumb-thick, thirty-centimeter-long wooden stick.”

Curious, Du Heng continued to ask, ”How can there be such a long wooden stick in a tour coach?”

As the two approached the coach, Wu Shengnan lowered her voice and said, ”When I was rescuing people earlier, I heard an auntie next to this injured woman say that the stick was used to stir the embers in an incense burner in a Temple when they were visiting the mountain.

This injured woman felt that the stick, having been in the Temple for a long time, possessed spiritual power, so she secretly took it, intending to bring it home.

Who would have thought it would end up stabbing her right in the stomach.”

Spiritual power? Stealing? Retribution?

Du Heng couldn’t help but shake his head.

He leaned over and crawled into the coach. In the last row, several kind-hearted people were attending to the injured woman.

Seeing Du Heng arrive, they all made way.

With just a glance, Du Heng said, ”Let’s move her outside first. It’s not safe to stay in the coach.”

The man who was helping the impaled auntie asked doubtfully, ”Shouldn’t we pull it out first? What if it stabs her internal organs when we move her?”

Du Heng took a deep breath. ”Remember this: if a foreign body is inserted into your body, do not try to remove it yourself. Call an ambulance or go to the Hospital immediately.”

The man helping with the wound became even more confused. ”But that’s not right! In movies and TV dramas, you always see characters who’ve been stabbed pull the knives out themselves and still go on to fight like heroes.”

Du Heng looked helplessly at the man. Despite his exasperation, he had to explain. ”You actually believe that nonsense cranked out by a bunch of lunatics? Most screenwriters these days are clueless fools who don’t know the first thing about anything.

And the directors? They’re a bunch who know nothing beyond yelling ’Action!’ Do you really expect to learn anything from the movies and TV dramas they make? Are you kidding me?”

Du Heng shook his head and continued, ”Whether it’s a knife, a dagger, or a foreign body like a piece of wood, if it’s inserted into a certain part of the body superficially, or only damages muscle tissue, you might still be able to move around for a bit after pulling it out.

But if it damages a blood vessel, or enters the chest or abdominal cavity, the moment you dare to pull it out yourself, you’ll collapse in minutes. Fight like a hero? Pure fantasy.”

Everyone quietly looked at Du Heng, hoping for an explanation.

Without hesitation, Du Heng said directly, ”A foreign body can indeed puncture blood vessels, but its presence also helps slow the rate of hemorrhage from the wound. If you recklessly pull it out, the pressure at the wound site will be lost.

Blood will gush from the vessels at the wound, either spraying outwards or filling your abdominal cavity with blood. In either case, you’ll pass out from sudden, massive blood loss, your heart won’t be able to take it, and you could even die on the spot.”

The auntie lying on the ground was already pale. As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, her face turned deathly white, completely drained of color. ”UGH... Stop talking! Get me out of here! I feel like I’m going to die!”

Du Heng glanced again at the exposed portion of the wooden stick; it was about twenty-five or twenty-six centimeters long.

Looking at the auntie’s round belly, he estimated her fat layer to be at least four centimeters thick.

So, it was impossible for the auntie to be dying, despite what she said.

Still, having a stick protruding from her abdomen was indeed a frightening sight.

Several people worked together to move the auntie from the coach to the roadside, beyond the guardrail. Afterward, they all stood panting, trying to catch their breath.

Du Heng said to Wu Shengnan, ”It’s been almost ten minutes. Ask where the ambulance is. The driver and the auntie with the liver rupture might not be able to hold on much longer.”

Wu Shengnan called the local emergency number. After a brief inquiry, she said, ”They’ll be here in five minutes at most.”

”That’s good.”

Du Heng casually replied, then walked towards Kang Zhirong. Seeing him holding a camera, filming this way and that, he couldn’t help but ask, ”Didn’t you say your butt and crotch were hurting? How do you still have the energy to film?”
