This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Professor Zhang glared at the onlookers by the door, but at this point, he couldn’t curse or drive them away. If he cursed or drove people away directly, he would truly be putting Du Heng in a difficult position. As it was, even if Du Heng couldn’t figure it out now, it didn’t matter. After all, many experts had failed before, and even he himself had hit a wall here. As someone from a younger generation, Du Heng’s inability to figure it out was acceptable, even if it was a bit embarrassing.

Du Heng didn’t hear the conversation outside; he was focused solely on the films.

However, Director Zheng and Kang Zhirong, standing behind him, heard everything loud and clear.

Director Zheng’s chubby face was already beaded with sweat, and he hung his head slightly, beginning to regret coming here with Du Heng. The excitement and agitation he’d felt just ten minutes ago had completely morphed into shame.

But Kang Zhirong was furious.

Having followed Du Heng for more than half a month, he now held a deep admiration for him. At this moment, he didn’t feel ashamed; he felt humiliated.

So, he stopped filming Du Heng and turned the camera lens towards the crowd of onlookers. Especially when it came to Doctor Yang, Kang Zhirong aimed the camera directly at his face, capturing his disdainful, arrogant, and contemptuous expressions.

He believed in Du Heng, confident that Du Heng would find the root cause of this illness. So, he wanted to record this moment, to see what expression Doctor Yang’s face would hold when all was said and done.

Seeing the camera pointed at him, a smirk touched the corners of Doctor Yang’s mouth. He wasn’t scared at all; in fact, he even tilted his chin up slightly.

A traditional Chinese medicine doctor reduced to looking at scans, and you’re really expecting a miracle from him? If you think this could produce a miracle, you might as well hope you’ll learn retinal transplantation surgery in the next second.

Du Heng flipped through all the films. The result was obvious: there was nothing. Even the B-ultrasound report for the liver area stated ’normal echogenicity.’

”Professor Zhang, is there no color doppler ultrasound imaging for the liver area? No CT either?”

”’No. Managing to get even a B-ultrasound report was already... well, you know.” Du Heng felt helpless.

The good thing about Western medicine tests is that as long as there’s a suspected connection, they can order many for you. But if there’s no connection and you insist on ordering a test that yields no results, that’s considered excessive medical treatment. Being reported for excessive medical treatment? Ha! Not only would the doctor who ordered the test be in for it, but the entire department would likely face the music too.

In the current situation, Western medicine theory doesn’t recognize the concepts that ’Vision is related to the liver’ and ’the essence of the liver pours into the eyes.’ It’s fine to order any test for the head; blood tests or even spinal tap procedures are acceptable. However, ordering an abdominal color doppler ultrasound or CT scan for an eye condition in a pure Department of Western Medicine? That would be courting disaster.

Du Heng understood these things, so after getting the answer, he didn’t ask any more questions.

He sighed, put down the disease record, and palpated the liver area again.

This was the last try. If there were still no findings, then his diagnosis would be ’liver qi uprising.’

The edge of the liver area felt soft, and its position was normal. Applying pressure elicited slight discomfort from the patient, a normal reaction. Du Heng didn’t change his hand position, still on the liver area, but this time he gently pressed to the side, roughly around the upper part of the lobes of the liver.

Under normal circumstances, the physical examination would be considered complete after palpating the middle part of the liver lobes. The upper part of the liver lobes was seldom palpated, and it wasn’t easy to reach due to its position.

Du Heng’s fingers could just reach that position. Yet, with just a light touch, the patient immediately cried out and arched their body.

”HMM?”

”EH?”

Instantly, the patient’s reaction drew everyone’s gaze and attention. Something was up.

Even Kang Zhirong, who had been in a standoff with Doctor Yang, quickly swiveled the camera back to Du Heng.

”Doctor Du, what is this?” Professor Zhang suddenly perked up, asking Du Heng anxiously yet cautiously.

Du Heng, also pleased, began to gently palpate the entire liver area again. Other areas were fine, but every time he palpated the upper part of the lobes of the liver, the patient’s pain would suddenly intensify.

Du Heng didn’t answer Professor Zhang immediately. He still didn’t quite understand why.

After a moment of thought, he turned to look at Director Zheng, sizing him up and down. Seeing his protruding belly, Du Heng turned his head away. Then he looked at the doctors watching by the door, and his gaze immediately fell upon Doctor Yang, who was standing in the middle of the group.

”Could this doctor help me?” Du Heng hadn’t heard what Doctor Yang had muttered earlier, so he still addressed him with a smile.

Doctor Yang was slightly surprised. ”Are you talking to me?”

”Yes,” Du Heng gave another friendly smile. ”I’d like to ask this doctor to come in. I want to do a comparison.”

”What kind of comparison?” Doctor Yang suddenly grew apprehensive.

”A liver area comparison. Don’t be afraid, I just want to touch and feel.”

Seeing Doctor Yang still hesitant and wanting to retreat, and recalling his earlier mumbling by the door, Professor Zhang felt slightly displeased.

It’s just a comparative examination, not a big deal. Why is this young man so timid?
