This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

As for bamboo dew, Tabasheer, and Lepidium seed, they are used to clear heat, purge the lungs, and expel phlegm, while reed root is used to clear heat and nourish Yin.”

After this explanation, everyone once again felt that Wu Buwei was right, and they all exclaimed in admiration.

Han Yujian breathed a sigh of relief and leaned back gently. ”When three people walk together, one of them must be my teacher. In the future, we should have more discussions and exchanges. Otherwise, with the kind of summary I just made, my technical level would stagnate. Moreover, if I encountered a similar case in the future, I might even delay the patient’s treatment.”

Such words prompted the other young doctors present to chime in, saying that they should learn from Doctor Han. Wu Buwei also felt completely relieved and sincerely realized that he had been too narrow-minded.

Du Heng, who entered the room, saw the crowd and was slightly stunned, asking baffledly, ”Are you having a meeting?”

Everyone laughed, and Wu Buwei left his seat and offered his chair to Du Heng. Wu Buwei then found a seat nearby and sat down, while Du Heng naturally took the offered one.

As for their actions, everyone saw them as normal and ordinary, with no one thinking Wu Buwei was trying to suck up.

Wu Buwei happily explained their previous discussion to Du Heng, asking him to comment on their content to see if there were any mistakes.

Du Heng was quite pleased with the scene.

During his previous six years of work, having a group of people sitting together to discuss and learn had been an unattainable luxury.

He had been playing solo for five years before finally witnessing the scene he had imagined.

Du Heng laughed and said, ”You’ve all discussed the results, so I won’t say much more. I’ll just mention a few other points about this case.”

Everyone immediately settled down, adopting a serious listening posture.

”Yesterday’s treatment was divided into three steps: first, acupuncture to stop the spasms; second, using Antelope Musk Antispasmodic Powder for resuscitating and regaining consciousness; and finally, the decoction medicine you all discussed.”

Du Heng spoke slowly, trying to summarize his thoughts while ensuring everyone understood.

”The young patient yesterday had symptoms of nasal flaring due to phlegm obstruction, indicating acute pneumonia along with acute shock. That’s why the baby’s condition was so severe, and why I used all three treatments.

But in general, based on yesterday’s treatment results, administering the powder medicine alone for mild symptoms should be effective immediately, without the need for the decoction.

If an infant is at risk of choking, adding musk can help relieve the danger, as musk can stimulate the respiratory center and expel impurities to awaken the brain. More importantly, it can alleviate brain hypoxia, thus preventing some adverse sequelae.

However, remember that while musk can stimulate the respiratory center, this is both a blessing and a drawback we cannot ignore. If used in excess, it will not stimulate the central nervous system but instead suppress it.

So, when using musk on children, it’s best not to exceed the dose I used—the less, the better.”

Everyone nodded, and then someone asked, ”Dean, yesterday this young patient was the heat and phlegm type. But if the disease is caused by heat from milk stagnation, how should it be treated?

I just looked at this prescription, and it doesn’t cover the aspect of aiding digestion. Can it still be used?”

Du Heng listened to the question carefully and slowly responded, ”When I was giving the patient medicine last night, I also considered this issue. If it’s caused by heat from milk stagnation, then adding a modified form of Harmonizing Pills will suffice.”

The doctor who asked the question took notes on Du Heng’s response, but his brow remained slightly furrowed; there was likely still something he didn’t quite understand.

Meanwhile, Du Heng continued, ”For patients with this type of internal excess, we apply the ’removing the firewood from under the cauldron’ strategy. Add rhubarb—prepare an infusion from it separately and add this to their medicine. This will allow the patient to achieve purgation.”

So that’s how it is! The doctor who had asked the question quickly completed his notes.

”Acute shock in children is mainly caused by wind, heat, phlegm, and food stagnation, so this prescription, with modifications, should be a universal treatment.”

Du Heng smiled and said to everyone, ”Next time you come across a child with acute shock, you can try using my prescription and give me some feedback. Perhaps we can even get a few papers out of it together.”

Upon hearing Du Heng’s words, everyone laughed heartily, feeling that this was very likely to succeed.

They all knew that the Health Clinic was about to be upgraded to a second-level hospital.

If it was upgraded to a second-level hospital, then future professional title advancements would no longer be based on special reports but would require research papers published in journals.

So they took Du Heng’s words to heart, not just laughing them off.

As everyone was enjoying the laughter, Du Heng’s phone rang. After a glance at the caller ID, his good mood instantly diminished.

”I’m getting discharged from the hospital today, aren’t you going to come over?” Wu Shengnan on the other end of the phone lacked her usual confrontational tone, which made Du Heng feel very uncomfortable.

Du Heng initially thought of saying no. But then he reconsidered. Even if it’s a fake relationship, it’s still a relationship, right? So he decided to go.

This ’dating’ is so bland, though, Du Heng mused, far less enjoyable than discussing cases with my colleagues.

After hanging up, Du Heng found Yu Haiting, explained the situation, and then drove towards Provincial First Hospital.

Halfway there, he received a call from Wu Zhong. ”Xiao Du, Nannan is being discharged today.”

Du Heng sighed. ”I know, I’m on my way already.”

Wu Zhong laughed heartily, sounding extremely happy. ”Ah, our family is just full of workaholics. Today Nannan is getting discharged, but there’s no one we can count on. Now, there’s only me, a useless old man, but what can I do?

It’s still your boyfriend who’s reliable, always available at a moment’s notice.”

These words from the old gentleman left Du Heng with no choice but to smile helplessly.

Upon arriving at the hospital, it was indeed as the old gentleman had said: apart from Wu Zhong himself, only a nanny was present.

Honestly, Du Heng thought, considering Wu Shengnan’s condition, she could have easily been sent home by ambulance. They must have asked for me on purpose.

However, there was no way to bring up this issue, so he had no choice but to work hard and bear any grievances.

Fortunately, after nearly a month of treatment, Wu Shengnan was now able to walk with the help of crutches, which saved Du Heng a lot of trouble.

However, when it came to getting into his car, she still needed to be picked up and carried in.

This was the first time Wu Shengnan had seen Du Heng’s car, and she asked with a surprised expression, ”You got a new car?”

Du Heng grunted in acknowledgment, holding Wu Shengnan as he placed her in the car. She’s surprisingly heavy, he thought, feeling his strength wasn’t quite up to the task. He’d never imagined this tall, slender girl could weigh so much.

”What happened to your old car, the one your ex-girlfriend used to drive? Were you willing to get rid of it?”

Hearing Wu Shengnan’s words, the meaning of which he couldn’t quite fathom, Du Heng sighed and said, ”If you really don’t have anything to say, it’s okay to keep quiet.”

After settling Wu Shengnan into her seat, Du Heng began to load her belongings into the car.

However, Wu Shengnan was quite annoyed by Du Heng’s unromantic demeanor and sat in the car pouting, refusing to speak.

It was also Sir Wu Zhong’s first time seeing Du Heng’s car, and his eyes narrowed slightly. ”Xiao Du, is this your car?”

”Yes, I bought it last month.”

”It’s a nice big car, but a bit flashy. Can you afford the monthly payments with your salary?”

”I don’t have payments; I bought it in full.”

In full?

The old gentleman’s eyes narrowed again.

Several unsavory thoughts flashed through his mind, but he quickly dismissed them; Du Heng didn’t seem like that kind of person.

So, without asking further, he got into the car, and they drove Wu Shengnan home.

”You’re not living at home?”

It wasn’t until they reached Wu Shengnan’s apartment that Du Heng realized she lived alone and not with her family.

Wu Shengnan, apparently still angry with Du Heng, coldly replied, ”This is my home.”

This attitude left Du Heng puzzled. What’s gotten into her? he wondered. Why has she been so sullen the entire trip, and still is, even now that we’re at her place?
