This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

As soon as Du Heng’s voice fell, Wu Buwei, who had been holding back his anger, took direct action, reaching out to pull the needle from the hand of the auntie next to him.

This sudden change startled the three aunties with infusion bottles, who hurriedly stretched out their hands to stop Wu Buwei. ”Hey, hey, young man, what are you doing? You can’t pull this out.”

”Auntie, we’re from the Health Clinic, and this is our Dean, Du Heng.” Wu Buwei glared fiercely at the woman behind him, then turned back to the three aunties and said, ”Auntie, do you know what kind of medicine is in these bottles?”

The three old ladies looked at each other and shook their heads in unison. ”We don’t know. She didn’t say.”

”Auntie, from my observation, the liquid in your bottles is just some glucose mixed with saline solution. No matter how much is infused, at most, you’ll just need to go to the restroom a couple more times. It has no ability to cure illness. This woman has no qualifications, and she doesn’t dare to add actual medicine to your infusion. Also, surely you all know who she is. Can you really trust the medicine she prescribes?”

The old lady still didn’t believe it and stretched out her hand to block Wu Buwei. ”Young man, don’t talk nonsense. I’ve had a cold for two days, and after two days of infusion, I already feel much better today. Listen, now I only have a slightly stuffy nose; there’s nothing else wrong with me.”

Wu Buwei listened to the old lady’s words and couldn’t help but smile bitterly. ”Auntie, a cold isn’t a serious illness. Infusing fluids into your body speeds up your metabolism, allowing your body to heal gradually. This has the same effect as simply drinking more water at home. If medicine had been added to the infusion, and your cold wasn’t too severe, your stuffy nose problem would likely have been resolved after just one infusion.”

After hearing Wu Buwei’s explanation, the three old ladies began to have doubts and no longer tried to stop Wu Buwei from removing the needles.

They turned to the woman at the counter and asked, ”Yang’s wife, is what this young man said true? You didn’t give us any medication, just infused water?”

The woman became anxious. ”Auntie, we’re from the same village! How could I lie to you? You trust outsiders more than your own people.”

Unexpectedly, another old lady who had been silent chimed in, ”Who said we’re family with your Yangs? Besides, this young man Du Heng isn’t an outsider. He’s the younger brother of my niece’s husband’s elder sister’s husband.”

What?

Hearing the slightly convoluted description of the relationship, Du Heng couldn’t help but look back at the old lady who was speaking.

Seeing Du Heng looking at her, the old lady immediately said with a grin, ”Child, your sister-in-law’s younger brother’s wife, from her maternal family, is my niece.”

This relationship is somewhat distant.

Nevertheless, Du Heng managed a faint smile. ”Auntie, hello. I’m so ashamed I didn’t recognize you.”

”It’s okay if we didn’t know each other before. We know each other now, don’t we?”

”Auntie, let’s chat later. I need to deal with something here first.”

”You go ahead, you go ahead,” the old lady said, her face all smiles.

Du Heng couldn’t help but chuckle. He hadn’t expected to find a relative here.

After laughing, he immediately turned to the flustered woman and said, ”Call your father-in-law right now. And bring out your nursing, pharmacist, or physician certificate. I need to check them.”

Having said that, Du Heng ignored her. He took out his mobile phone to photograph the child’s hand, bruised from the needle pricks, and also captured an overall view of the clinic.

The woman wanted to make a scene, but considering the person opposite her was the Dean of the Health Clinic, she hesitated several times and didn’t dare to actually cause a fuss.

After testing the waters several times and seeing Du Heng begin to photograph the medicine inside the counter, the woman hurriedly took out her phone and made a call. She then slipped into the back room, where she had just retrieved the medicine, and locked the door from the inside.

Du Heng tried pushing the door twice, but when it didn’t open, he didn’t insist. Instead, he turned and made two phone calls, then put away his mobile phone and started chatting with the people in the clinic.

When he learned that Yang Zhengnong’s clinic was mostly run by this woman, who was prescribing medicine and performing acupuncture, Du Heng felt a wave of anxiety.

But he couldn’t understand why this woman was prescribing medicine here.

”So where did Yang Zhengnong go? Why isn’t he here prescribing medicine?”

”Him? He’s always out at people’s houses setting up infusions, a task that takes the whole day. He has to be well-fed and taken care of there, and only returns once the infusions are finished.”

The Yangjiagou Brigade comprised only three natural villages. There weren’t many people, and the villages weren’t large, but they were quite far apart.

It was understandable that Yang Zhengnong would be gone for a whole day and be provided with food and drink.

But what was incomprehensible was why this woman was here prescribing medicine.

After chatting for a short while, several chattering women and an irate man arrived at the entrance.

The man, holding a hoe, directly lifted the clinic’s door curtain and charged in. ”You bastard, you came to our clinic to cause trouble, did you? I’ll kill you!”

As he spoke, he swung the hoe towards Du Heng, who was standing in the middle of the room.

This sudden attack terrified Wu Buwei, who quickly lunged forward and grabbed the hoe the man had raised.

Du Heng looked at the seemingly furious man and chuckled lightly.

From the moment the man had entered, Du Heng had seen through his pretense; the man was all bluster, fierce in appearance but timid at heart.

If he had genuinely intended to strike, Wu Buwei wouldn’t have been able to catch the falling hoe.

Although the man looked angry and ferocious, Du Heng wasn’t afraid at all.
