Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chen Wen’s group, an hour later.

He, Dennis, and Adam led two camels to the area where the indigenous people lived.

Here, Chen Wen took out the agreed leather and handed it to the indigenous people.

Seeing the leather that had been simply tanned, the indigenous people were very satisfied.

He nodded, gave Chen Wen a thumbs up: ”Very good, very good! I like these!”

After expressing his feelings about the leather, the indigenous person also brought out the resources he wanted to exchange with Chen Wen: ”Here, what you need, take a look.”

Chen Wen picked up a few bags the indigenous person had taken out and took a look.

”Wow, so much?”

After seeing what was inside the bags clearly, Chen Wen couldn’t help but curse.

Adam, hearing him, looked over, and also peeked into the bags for a glance, he couldn’t help but gasp: ”So much! Is all this wheat?”

Dennis rummaged through the other bags and couldn’t help but say: ”There’s wheat, oats, barley, and lots of corn kernels!”

”This person gave way too much!”

Dennis sighed.

And that wasn’t all.

After providing the grains, the indigenous person also brought out some smoked lamb and a fruit resembling a Hami melon.

He gestured with his hands, saying to Chen Wen: ”Lamb, delicious, melon, sweet! Just picked!”

Chen Wen took the smoked lamb and the unknown fruit from the indigenous man, showing gratitude: ”Thank you for your generosity!”

The indigenous man grinned: ”Friend! Friend!”

Hearing this, Chen Wen also smiled: ”Friend!”

After shaking hands with the indigenous people, the group loaded the exchanged resources back onto the camels and bid farewell to the indigenous tribe.

Looking at the melon in Chen Wen’s hand, Dennis couldn’t help but say: ”I heard before that the government set up some farms here among the indigenous people, looks like it’s true, they’ve even grown melons.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen said: ”Your government did well with this, cautiously managing irrigation agriculture using seasonal rivers and oases. We were lucky to intersect with the government-subsidized farms.”

Speaking here, Adam chimed in: ”You Hua Country folks are amazing too. I once survived in your Taklamakan Desert, and except for the core areas, it doesn’t even feel like a desert anymore, more like a grassland.”

After this commercial praise, Chen Wen focused on the unknown melon in his hand.

”I wonder how this thing tastes, should we try it once we’re back?”

Hearing Chen Wen, Dennis said: ”This is a Spanish melon, which we also call toad-skin melon here. It’s a type of melon, very sweet and fragrant like a fruit.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen immediately felt his appetite stir.

This desert journey has been rather dull and monotonous.

Especially when it comes to food.

Apart from occasionally staying at an oasis for fresh food, most of the time Chen Wen and his group only eat jerky with cold water, occasionally cooking some dry rations.

They couldn’t taste any fruits at all.

Back at their campsite, seeing Chen Wen brought back a melon, Hua Yun and Fred couldn’t stop swallowing.

Right now, this thing is more enticing than meat!

Chen Wen didn’t say much and directly cut open the Spanish melon resembling a Hami melon.

The inside of the Spanish melon also looked similar to Hami melons, with juicy pulp surrounding seeds.

Dennis had Chen Wen remove the seeds, and then everyone started eating the Spanish melon.

”Wow! So sweet!”

Chen Wen squinted his eyes, feeling very pleased.

The others nodded, it was indeed very sweet!

After eating the Spanish melon, Chen Wen gained an opportunity to choose a skill.

This thing hadn’t been processed by humans, so it counted as an obtainable skill.

However, the melon didn’t produce any top-tier skills. After some deliberation, Chen Wen chose one of them.

[Gua Fragrance (Purple): You can actively release the fragrance of melon fruit, masking your own scent while attracting nearby animals. ps: Active skill, requires a day’s recovery time after each use, Gua Fragrance lasts for an hour]

This skill is somewhat similar to the previous Fruit Fragrance.

But it’s actively used, and it won’t provoke animal attacks.

It’s quite a useful active skill.

After choosing a skill, Chen Wen didn’t linger.

Everyone continued their journey after waiting for the hottest part of the day to pass.

According to Chen Wen’s plan, they should reach near the second oasis by night. After resting outside for a night, they can reach the oasis at noon the next day for resupply and rest.

Everyone’s actions proceeded as planned, methodically and orderly.

In the morning, Chen Wen prudently dispatched the howling kite and chestnut-winged hawk to scout the second oasis.

He remained extremely cautious of the unfriendly Hunting Owl Organization.

...

The Second Oasis.

Xu Qiang and Elvin hurried over.

But just as they were about to enter, Xu Qiang sensitively noticed the markings left by Ding Jinyu.

”Wait a second, something’s off here!”

Xu Qiang said, pulling Elvin back a bit.

Elvin, hearing this, frowned: ”What’s off? We need to resupply in the oasis.”

Xu Qiang explained the meaning of the Hua Association’s markings.

Hearing this, Elvin gasped: ”Danger? How could there be danger in the second oasis? Could it be someone deliberately causing trouble?”

Upon saying this, Xu Qiang scratched his head.

This... it’s not impossible!

This time’s survival, Hua Country isn’t as united as before.

But after some thought, he insisted: ”I think we should follow the guidance of this marking. We have an old saying in Hua Country, better to believe it’s real than not. If there’s really danger, we could end up in deep trouble.”

Elvin was persuaded by Xu Qiang, and the two didn’t enter the second oasis, instead detoured to another oasis behind it.

The scene of them detouring was just caught by the howling kite and chestnut-winged hawk flying over.

The chestnut-winged hawk recognized Xu Qiang, as Xu Qiang had fed it when he was with Chen Wen before.

Hence, the chestnut-winged hawk lowered its flying altitude a bit.

It sensed that this area was safe.

But just as the chestnut-winged hawk lowered its height,

the howling kite suddenly noticed something very familiar in the open area of the oasis.

It was a discreetly painted sand off-road vehicle!

Memories surged back.

The howling kite suddenly realized that those humans who hurt its companions came from this vehicle!

They’re here!

The howling kite suddenly became angry, attempting to retaliate against these humans, but thinking of their firearms, it quickly calmed down.

This needs to be reported to Chen Wen!

The howling kite thought, just as it was about to return and report,

below in the oasis campsite,

Aquinas from the Hunting Owl Organization picked up a special slingshot.

He squinted his eyes, staring at the low-flying chestnut-winged hawk: ”Hey, boss, have you seen this thing before?”

Todd shook his head: ”Haven’t seen it, must be some kind of hawk?”

”If you haven’t seen it, this thing might be very rare!”

Aquinas licked his dry lips, greedily saying: ”Whether alive or as a specimen, I feel it could be worth a lot of money!”

Todd chuckled: ”Give it a try, best if you hit it, no big deal if you miss.”

Aquinas nodded, placed a steel ball on the slingshot, and then looked for a suitable position to ambush the chestnut-winged hawk.
