Wilderness Survival with Druid System

After the Taipan Snake left, Chen Wen took a look around the water source.

He didn’t find any suitable prey.

However, he did find more rabbit nests.

As Chen Wen pondered whether he should transform into a stoat or a sable in the evening to have a chat with the European rabbits,

suddenly.

Chen Wen heard a shout from his left front direction.

Before he could think about what was happening there.

The next second, Fred’s angry voice came over: ”Damn thing! I’m going to kill you!”

Was Fred in danger?!

Chen Wen became instantly alert.

He couldn’t bother calling the Taipan Snake, and grabbed the long spear, rushing toward where the sound came from.

With his strong physical fitness, Chen Wen leaped over a shrub more than a meter high.

After landing steadily, he saw Fred facing this way, seemingly chasing something.

Chen Wen didn’t have time to ask.

Out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly caught sight of a very thin and short snake crawling this way.

Could it be that Fred was bitten by the snake?

Chen Wen was startled, and didn’t bother to inquire further.

He picked up the long spear, aimed at the snake about ten meters away, and threw it ferociously.

Swoosh!

At a distance of ten meters, Chen Wen’s spear could be said to hit wherever he aimed.

The spear accurately hit the midsection of the snake’s body.

Sharp spear, with the aid of [Thorn], pierced through the snake’s body effortlessly, splitting it in half.

The small snake, attacked, immediately curled up.

Its two halves tangled together, completely losing the possibility of escape.

He quickly approached to take a look at the snake’s appearance.

Just from the head, this snake was highly likely a venomous one!

Chen Wen squinted his eyes, feeling a bit nervous.

At this moment, Fred also came over.

He was similarly tense and looked at Chen Wen for a long time, not knowing what to say.

”Bitten?”

Chen Wen broke the silence.

Fred nodded silently, rolling up his right pants leg a little.

There were obvious bite marks, and the wound seemed to be a bit swollen.

”Don’t worry, I’ll help you handle it first.”

Chen Wen said, letting Fred sit down and elevate the bitten right leg.

He felt around on himself, taking out a piece of stolen clothing.

He cut the clothing into strips and tied it tightly on the proximal end of the injured leg.

To slow down blood flow, to delay the spread of the toxin.

Then, Chen Wen looked at the wound.

He didn’t rashly try to suck out the venom, as it was an unwise action.

If there were mouth ulcers or other wounds in the mouth, sucking out the poison would endanger himself.

Therefore, Chen Wen let Fred find something to bite on.

Fred was a bit bewildered, but he did as told.

And while Fred was bewildered, Chen Wen pinched the wound spot.

Took a deep breath, and exerted force!

Without [Giant Strength], Chen Wen simply used his own strength to squeeze the wound.

The next second.

Gurgling blood flowed out, and Chen Wen immediately used nearby leaves to gently scrape away the blood from the wound.

Fred bit into his clothing hard, his eyes almost popping out from the pain.

Chen Wen’s grip was indeed damn strong!

Fred couldn’t help but think to himself.

At this time, Chen Wen squeezed again, forcing some more blood out.

After four or five repetitions, he stopped.

”I don’t know how much venom could be squeezed out, but this is my limit. Let Dennis have a look at this snake when we get back, I can’t recognize it now.”

The venomous snake’s body was relatively thin, less than a meter long.

The scales of its body had a bluish sheen, while the scales on its head and tail were copper-colored.

It looked as if two snakes were patched together, leaving Chen Wen puzzled.

He had never seen such a snake, nor had he seen it in the association’s data.

Fred heard this and reluctantly stood up.

The venom squeezing also made his leg muscles ache terribly.

Seeing Fred’s state, Chen Wen shook his head and, using his shoulder to support Fred’s body, helped him away.

The venomous snake that bit Fred, and was speared into two by Chen Wen, was grabbed by the head and handed to Fred.

Fred held the snake, leaning on Chen Wen, slowly making his way to the shelter.

When the two returned to the shelter.

In the camp, Dennis immediately noticed the injured Fred and the poisonous snake in Fred’s hand.

Dennis’s face changed immediately.

He quickly came over and asked, ”What happened?”

”I was attacked by a venomous snake.”

Fred said, showing the still wriggling snake in his hand.

Seeing the snake, Dennis’s face changed subtly.

But before he could say more, Chen Wen immediately asked, ”I did some basic treatment on Fred’s wound, can you check what kind of snake this is? I can’t recognize it, there’s no mention of such a venomous snake in the data.”

Dennis nodded slightly.

He looked carefully at the snake’s body again, seeming to have confirmed something.

A moment later, Dennis looked at Fred, saying sternly, ”You brat...”

Fred immediately became nervous.

But the next second, Dennis couldn’t help but laugh: ”Lucky you! This snake isn’t highly venomous, it’s called a Desert Whip Snake, a new species of desert viper we discovered the year before last.”

Hearing this, Fred seemed to deflate, plopping down onto the sand.

He grimaced at Dennis: ”Next time, say the whole thing, stop scaring people!”

Chen Wen, also still shaken, looked at Dennis, somewhat speechless.

At a time like this, cracking jokes could scare Fred out of his wits!

Dennis chuckled, apologetically patting Fred’s shoulder: ”Sorry, I thought saying it like this would make you feel a bit lighter.”

”This snake’s venom is a mild neurotoxin mixed with cytotoxin, mainly targeting small prey like lizards, posing very little threat to humans. A human bitten will at most feel pain and swelling at the bite site, with no fatal risk whatsoever.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen and Fred were completely relieved.

It’s good to be okay.

Dennis continued, glancing at the Desert Whip Snake again: ”It’s normal for you not to know this kind of venomous snake, I only got the exact information from the association before coming. They were discovered quite late, proposed two years ago, with a thesis published last year, and the association only got detailed data at the start of this year.”

Chen Wen couldn’t help but say: ”Your association really keeps a lot of things under wraps!”

”It’s mutual.”

Dennis laughed: ”Your Hua Association is known for its depth and mystery, our association learned from you guys.”

After a few jokes, Dennis and Chen Wen together checked Fred’s injuries, ensuring there was no issue before untying the clothing used as a bandage.

Seeing Chen Wen’s handling of the wound, Dennis couldn’t help but nod: ”Very nicely done, if it really was a snake that posed a human threat, your handling very effectively delays the venom’s onset.”

”Have you handled similar wounds before?”

Hearing Dennis’s inquiry, Chen Wen thought for a moment, then shook his head.

Dennis marveled again: ”A natural talent!”

After speaking, Dennis said: ”Even though the snake’s venom isn’t harmful to humans, we should still treat this cautiously. Do we still have the Desert Rose from before?”

”The last one.”

Chen Wen rummaged through his backpack and said.

Dennis thought for a moment, then discussed with Chen Wen: ”To prevent infection, I think we better stay an extra day at the oasis to monitor Fred’s wound and use the Desert Rose for treatment. What do you think?”

Chen Wen naturally agreed.
