Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Inland Taipan!

As a few words leapt out of Dennis’s mouth, everyone felt a chilling cold rise from within their bodies, seeping out through their seven orifices.

”How is that possible?!”

Adam looked at Chen Wen in disbelief.

Dennis shook his head, ”There are too many impossible things in this world, and this is the Death’s Ten Miles. I’ve mentioned before how eerie it is here.”

Fred sighed, ”What should we do?”

Hua Yun looked tense.

She was somewhat flustered, not knowing what to do.

Fortunately, Adam and Dennis remained calm.

Dennis said to Chen Wen, ”Chen Wen, you’re doing the right thing. Keep your current posture, don’t move, and try not to get nervous or sweat, to minimize the risk of exposing your scent.”

”The Inland Taipan’s perception functions in two ways: one through its frequently flicking forked tongue, gathering scent molecules in the air and chemical residues on the ground, transmitting this information to its vomeronasal organ at the roof of its mouth to discern the type and location of its prey.”

”The other is through its abdominal scales and lower jaw, which can sense vibrations transmitted through the ground. It doesn’t have infrared sensing capability, so as long as you don’t move, it has difficulty detecting you through vibrations.”

”We now need to use camel dung to make a fire, using the burning scent of camel dung to disperse your scent, and at the same time, try to drive it away. You must maintain your current state!”

As he spoke, Adam had already taken out some dry camel dung and ignited it with a fire starter.

Hearing Dennis’s voice, Chen Wen sighed inwardly.

Dennis, as a local, was indeed quite resourceful. His strategies were very appropriate.

But upon hearing the name Inland Taipan, Chen Wen’s heartbeat involuntarily quickened.

After all, the thing coiling around his neck was a venomous land snake, and despite Chen Wen’s efforts to reassure himself and stay calm,

physiological fear kept his heart racing.

And this Inland Taipan coiling around his neck also sensed the vibrations of Chen Wen’s heartbeat.

Just as Dennis said, Chen Wen also knew the perception methods of the Inland Taipan.

One through the vomeronasal organ, the other through the abdominal scales and lower jaw.

[Repellent] made Chen Wen’s scent somewhat similar to that of the trees.

That might fool the not-so-smart Inland Taipan’s vomeronasal organ.

But Chen Wen could not hide the vibrations from it at all.

Chen Wen could feel the Inland Taipan coiled around him growing more tense.

Its body was tightening continuously.

In this situation, once it realizes Chen Wen’s presence, it would instinctively bite him for self-defense.

Injecting hundreds of milligrams of venom at once!

And theoretically, that venom could kill 100 adult humans!

Chen Wen was already prepared for the possibility of exposing his abilities.

Once this Inland Taipan neared the threshold of tension, he planned to immediately transform into a short-tailed weasel, using its small size to catch the Inland Taipan off guard.

Before it could react, he’d attempt to evade the Inland Taipan’s attack using the speed and reflexes of the short-tailed weasel.

Having made his decision,

Chen Wen awaited the dispersing scent of burning camel dung, hoping it would drive away the Inland Taipan.

After roughly a few dozen seconds, wisps of a charred smell slowly wafted over.

This odor stung Chen Wen, making him squint slightly.

The Inland Taipan also smelled this odor.

As Chen Wen expected, the charred smell unsettled the Inland Taipan.

It understood the power of flames, and the charred odor gave it the illusion of flames sweeping in.

The Inland Taipan kept extending its forked tongue, sensing the air for scent molecules.

It was quite tense.

But Chen Wen was even more tense!

As he realized from the airflow from the snake’s tongue that the Inland Taipan’s head was near his neck.

Damn, if it bites me, not even a god could save me!

In his anxiety, Chen Wen unconsciously began to salivate excessively.

He wanted to swallow but feared it would alarm the Inland Taipan, making him exhibit extreme unnaturalness.

He gradually lost control over his body, which started to tremble continuously.

No!

Chen Wen realized that if this continued, it would definitely provoke the Inland Taipan.

He had no choice but to risk exposure and use the [Transformation] function to escape!

He tried his best to maintain steady breathing and took a deep breath.

Taking advantage at a moment when the Inland Taipan hadn’t reacted, he suddenly used the [Transformation] function.

Chen Wen’s body underwent an unbelievably strange metamorphosis.

Just like a balloon suddenly deflating, his body kept contracting, transforming to the size of a short-tailed weasel within a mere second.

In the next second, Chen Wen abruptly became a very petite figure, a pure white short-tailed weasel.

But only Chen Wen knew this.

To those outside, including the filming drone, Chen Wen’s appearance hadn’t changed.

The only unusual thing was that Chen Wen’s body seemed to become somewhat illusory.

But at the moment, no one would notice such insignificant details.

Even the Inland Taipan coiled around Chen Wen only suddenly felt empty and fell to the ground.

After transforming into a short-tailed weasel, Chen Wen immediately activated the related traits.

The short-tailed weasel’s traits included many related to agility and reflexes.

In the short-tailed weasel form, Chen Wen crouched down fiercely, with his spine distinctly different from a human’s.

Extended lumbar vertebrae and highly flexible vertebrae allowed his spine to bend, stretch, and twist remarkably.

Thus, in the short-tailed weasel form, Chen Wen swiftly curled up, his body bending sideways as if boneless.

At this moment, the Inland Taipan also noticed the anomaly.

It was provoked.

The Inland Taipan swiftly launched an attack, but regrettably, against the short-tailed weasel form of Chen Wen, its attack speed was no longer insurmountable.

The short-tailed weasel form of Chen Wen closely watched every movement of the Inland Taipan.

Just as its body tensed and launched an attack,

the short-tailed weasel form of Chen Wen abruptly drew back.

His spine compressed like a spring and then suddenly unleashed its full force.

Chen Wen in his short-tailed weasel form sprung up fiercely, fleeing in the opposite direction from the Inland Taipan.

Snap!

As the Inland Taipan’s jaws closed, the short-tailed weasel form of Chen Wen escaped at an extremely close distance!

...

Outside.

Everyone felt as if Chen Wen’s body moved slightly.

Just as Dennis was about to caution Chen Wen to avoid large movements,

disguised as Chen Wen, he seemingly shook his head.

The next moment.

Under the shocked gazes of everyone.

Disguised as Chen Wen, he swiftly jerked back his head, rapidly creating distance.

And after being shaken off by Chen Wen, a full-sized Inland Taipan appeared in everyone’s sight!
