Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Holding the pot, a strong smell of blood hit Fred’s forehead.

He was somewhat doubtful whether this thing could quench thirst.

”I’ve heard that blood usually contains salt, can this... really quench thirst?”

Fred asked uncertainly.

Chen Wen hesitated a moment, without directly answering Fred: ”Before coming here, I watched some documentaries about desert regions. In Kenya, the Rendille people drink camel blood raw to quench their thirst.”

Hearing this, Fred gritted his teeth and leaned toward the edge of the pot with his mouth.

Anyway, since those indigenous people chose to drink camel blood raw, this method must be effective.

He held the pot and sipped the camel blood in small sips.

The taste...

Fred struggled to endure the fishy smell and drank nearly 500 milliliters of camel blood.

”How is it?”

”How does it taste?”

”Does it quench your thirst?”

The people around immediately asked.

Fred smacked his lips, looking troubled: ”It quenches thirst, but the smell is strong, there’s the wild animal smell and also the bloody smell.”

”It’s hard to drink!”

Listening to Fred’s summary, the others all breathed a sigh of relief.

At such a time, who cares if it tastes good or not, as long as it quenches thirst, that’s what matters!

After Fred took a couple more sips, the others took turns drinking the blood, each with a faint red tinge around their mouths.

It looked quite eerie.

Chen Wen savored the taste of the camel blood, feeling that the aftertaste had a bit of a salty milk tea flavor.

Of course, the bloody taste was still very strong.

After drinking the camel blood, everyone temporarily solved the problem of thirst.

But it was only a temporary solution; to completely relieve thirst, they still needed to find a water source.

And at this moment.

The sky echoed with a series of strange yet familiar cries.

Chen Wen looked up and saw it was the Shaoying bird!

The Shaoying bird at this moment was circling, seemingly looking for something.

Upon seeing the Shaoying bird, Chen Wen immediately went to the top of a sand dune and waved continuously at it.

The Shaoying bird quickly noticed Chen Wen and flapped its wings to fly down.

”I found water!”

The Shaoying bird’s tone was very excited, after all, it had been flying hard for so long for a drop of water.

Hearing this, Chen Wen immediately asked, ”Where?”

”This way, I’ll take you there; it’s not very far.”

Saying this, the Shaoying bird flew up.

Chen Wen also immediately informed Adam and the others, asking them to follow.

”Really found water? This bird is so intelligent!”

Dennis whispered to Adam as they followed behind.

Adam nodded, ”It’s indeed intelligent. I even suspect this bird might understand human speech; earlier when...”

Adam recounted his earlier experience to Dennis.

Which amazed Dennis even more.

...

With the Shaoying bird leading the way, Chen Wen and his group moved quickly, with clear targets, heading straight toward the southwest.

After walking for about half an hour.

Chen Wen suddenly noticed a patch of green near the distant horizon.

His brows relaxed, and with his [Far-sight Ability], he confirmed that it was not a mirage but a real oasis!

”Let’s go, over there! I see vegetation!”

Chen Wen loudly informed everyone, urging them to follow.

Seeing the green vegetation made the others even more excited than Chen Wen, especially Fred, who was eager to rush over directly.

Soon, everyone arrived at the oasis.

The oasis was not large, only about the size of two or three basketball courts.

But near the center of the oasis, the ground had a crack.

This crack was narrow, only accommodating one person to enter.

The Shaoying bird told Chen Wen that the water was inside the crack.

Chen Wen picked up the long spear and took the torch from Dennis.

He carefully entered the crack, exploring forward.

After walking several dozen meters down the sloped ground, a rush of moist air wafted up from the depth of the crack, filling Chen Wen’s nostrils.

There really is water!

Chen Wen was excited but still progressed slowly.

After all, this was Australia.

In places like this, if a snake or venomous insect appears, it could be deadly!

Even if Chen Wen had the detoxification skill [Cleansing], he couldn’t expel the venom from some of the world’s most poisonous snakes in a short time.

Continuing to move forward cautiously, about a hundred meters in, the narrow rock crevice suddenly opened up.

A cave, similar to an underground karst cave, appeared in front of Chen Wen.

In front of him, the sound of rushing water dramatically amplified.

Running water!

Chen Wen was even more excited, taking a few quick steps forward.

He arrived at the freshwater pool.

”This should be the outlet of an underground river, no, it’s where the flow breaks.”

After a rough observation, Chen Wen noticed the differences here.

In the upper part of the cave, there was an opening from which a large amount of underground water flowed out and cascaded down.

The bottom of the cave was a water pool, not very large, while on the other side, there was a deep cave, the end unknown.

”It looks like due to geological movement, a fracture appeared here, cutting off the underground river and forming a water pool.”

Chen Wen guessed the reason for the formation of the water pool and also took a careful look at the surrounding environment.

Although it was humid, there were no traces of poisonous snakes or insects.

There were only some traces left by small rodent-like animals.

After clarifying the situation here, Chen Wen went to the water’s edge, scooped up some underground water with his hand, and brought it to his nose.

He sniffed the underground water’s scent, without any pungent odor.

Then Chen Wen gently licked the underground water with the tip of his tongue, the taste was normal, just the typical taste of underground water, and it was very refreshing!

”We’re really lucky!”

Chen Wen exclaimed, returning to the surface.

He told everyone about the situation underground, which made everyone extremely excited.

”Great, we have a freshwater supply!”

”Yeah, thanks to the Fire Hawk, no, it should be Chen Wen!”

”With so much water, we can completely restock our freshwater resources and continue forward.”

”Yes, we can even skip the first oasis, take a shortcut forward. According to the map, the oases after the first one will be more abundant, since it’s the end of the rainy season now.”

The group discussed and planned their next actions.

Arranging the task of fetching water downward.

Chen Wen, meanwhile, sent the Shaoying bird out to find the Crested Eagle and bring it back to the camp.

The Shaoying bird was indeed reliable.

About half an hour later, it returned to the oasis with the Crested Eagle in tow.

The Crested Eagle, seeing Chen Wen, was somewhat excited and somewhat frustrated.

It hadn’t found any water source.

Chen Wen naturally did not blame the Crested Eagle; finding water in such a place was originally very difficult.

The Shaoying bird, with its intelligence and Chen Wen’s guidance, knew to look for water through the oasis.

It was normal for the Crested Eagle not to find a water source.

After comforting the Crested Eagle for a while, Chen Wen turned his attention to the Shaoying bird.

It seemed to him that the Shaoying bird was a bit unsettled.

Upon inquiry, Chen Wen received a very important piece of information from the Shaoying bird.
