Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

The drone slowly approached the location of the radio signal. Soon, Fang Zheng saw the appearance of the object on the screen. It looked like a composite of steel and rock, half steel, half rock, with antennas that resembled tree branches sticking out of it, resembling a mud-covered round canister dug out from a mound.

However, the strange symbols and flickering lights on it clearly showed that it was definitely not a naturally occurring object.

”Carefully inspect and be aware of the surroundings, investigate the source of the signal, and remain hidden.”

Fang Zheng issued a series of commands, and someone quickly set to work. Seeing this, Misaka Mikoto appeared somewhat curious.

”Is there anything peculiar? Isn’t it just a metal canister? We can simply take it and have a look, right?”

”This is the universe, my young lady.”

Fang Zheng shook his head.

”We don’t even know what it is. It could be a distress message or just a regular probe, but it could also be bait or a bomb. Perhaps if we touch it, it will immediately collapse and turn into a black hole that swallows us all.”

”No, really...?”

Upon hearing this, Misaka Mikoto turned pale.

”Why not? We don’t know what the other party is. You must understand that the universe is vast, with countless different civilizations, whose morals and values may be completely different from ours. Perhaps they enjoy slaughter and destruction of everything they encounter? In the universe, contact with new civilizations always requires caution, caution, and more caution.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng glanced at Misaka Mikoto.

”It’s like encountering a little white rabbit in a strange forest. You might think it’s adorable, but it might turn around and bite your head off.”

”Ugh...”

”Ha, that’s why Classmate Misaka is one without brains.”

At this moment, another elegant voice came from the side, and upon hearing this voice, Misaka Mikoto immediately clenched her fist, unhappily glaring at the blonde girl beside her.

”Shihou...! If you keep silent, nobody would mistake you for a mute!”

”I’ve been dragged here; what’s wrong with saying a few words?”

Speaking of this, Shihou Souki was exasperated. She didn’t even know what happened before, Fang Zheng suddenly appeared before her one day saying, ”I’m afraid something might happen if I leave you here alone, take a day to pack and come with me,” and the next day she was directly pulled onto the warship by Fang Zheng.

”But I’m genuinely curious about the thought processes of aliens, and if there’s an opportunity, Mr. Fang Zheng, would you mind if I give it a try?”

”If the chance arises.”

Facing Shihou Souki’s request, Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders. This was another reason he brought Shihou Souki along, as he originally didn’t have many psychic system ability users under his command...

Quickly, the inspection results came back; it was just a simple signal transmitter, quite outdated in technology, quite mediocre, and it had existed for a very long time. According to the drone’s analysis, this device had been around for at least six hundred years, and its signal was already intermittent and incomplete.

”Open it, parse the data, and ensure safety.”

Fang Zheng pondered for a moment then issued a command again, seeing mechanical hands appear below the drone, swiftly capturing the signal-transmitting device. Then a laser beam shot out, cutting open the device’s outer shell and revealing the components inside.

The components appeared quite strange; they looked like tussocks of vine and branches intertwined together, then inserted into several meticulously polished crystals and stones. The drone quickly delved into it, beginning to gather information. After a brief moment, Nymph’s voice sounded.

”Report, Master, data collection complete.”

”Release it.”

”Yes.”

Soon, the screen before everyone flashed, and a bizarre image appeared before them.

On the screen, an oddly shaped creature with four arms and legs, with a massive build like a grizzly bear, but a head resembling a toy bear, stood there. It waved its limbs and even flipped upside down, emitting a piercing scream.

”Doodooloo, doodooloo, doodoolooloo doodooloo!!”

As they screamed, these creatures opened their mouths to reveal sharp teeth, facing the camera, opening their mouths then closing them forcefully. Then, soon, they picked up an animal resembling a frog with a chicken’s head from the side, and bit down fiercely towards the camera.

”—Ga ah—Ga ah!!”

The unfortunate creature was then ripped into fragments under sharp teeth, and those creatures gleefully faced the camera again, shaking the heavily bitten and bloodied corpse in their hands, shouting and cheering loudly, and then.... the image ended.

”What... what the hell was that?”

Little Hei looked completely bewildered, while Illya was so scared that she ducked behind her.

”I think it’s like a horror film acted by aliens... Honestly speaking, are they trying to intimidate us?”

Kuroko Shirai also crossed her arms unsatisfied, staring at the screen.

”Like warning us not to invade their planet, or they’ll eat us?”

”I think it fits.”

Misaka Mikoto nodded, and truth be told, not only them, but even Asuna and Eiriri held the same thought. After all, the appearance in that footage could not be considered good under any circumstances.

However, Fang Zheng did not partake in the girls’ discussion. He merely opened his personal terminal again, contacting Nymph once more.

”Nymph, has the analysis been successful?”

”Yes, Master, the analysis is complete. Please wait a moment, I’m replacing... Done.”

Accompanied by Nymph’s words, everyone saw the screen in front of them flash, and the previous scene reappeared. However, this time, the strange ”Doodooloo” sounds had been replaced with words they could understand.

”We are the Doodooloo Bears of Doodooloo Planet!”

The creatures appeared, starting to dance around.

”Doodooloo, Doodooloo, we love peace, we are a kind and friendly species!”

They wiggled their limbs and turned upside down.

”We welcome the arrival of guests, we know we are not the only life in this starry sky! So, guests who see this video, please come to our planet.”

While talking, these creatures took that chicken-headed frog and started waving it at the camera.

”We can treat you to the most delicious food!”

They took a bite, blood flowing like a river.

”Crispy, tender, a top-notch taste! Delicious Gaga Chicken! Welcome, we believe the pursuit of good food is shared throughout the universe! You’ll definitely fall in love with our food! Welcome, our friends!”

The video ended.

”.........”

Total silence.

”Either they’re crazy, or I am.”

Riko reached out and pressed her forehead.

”Sorry, I need to go and calm down.”

”........ Alien civilization really is......”

Right now, Shihou Souki’s face was exceptionally stiff.

”....... Truly incomprehensible......”

Fang Zheng directly ignored the shattered worldviews of the girls behind him and contacted Nymph again.

”Are there coordinates on the device?”

”Of course, we’ve already sent probes to investigate... Ah, please hold on, the probe has discovered another signal device, very similar to the previous one.”

”Oh?”

”Information collected... now translating... Done.”

As Nymph spoke, the scene in front of them changed again, and this time on the screen was a group of creatures with frog bodies and chicken heads... Well, everyone was quite familiar with this thing.

After all, they had just seen it.

The chicken-frogs jumped around on screen, occasionally letting out screeches.

”Hello, hello, distant guests among the stars. We are the Gaga Chickens, the great Gaga Chickens!”

The chicken-frogs screamed and jumped, jumped and screamed.

”The great Gaga Chickens love peace, we are a peace-loving species! We are the great and peaceful Gaga Chickens!”

Then the camera turned to show a creature cooked like a roast lamb, with a bear’s body being pushed out... Well, everyone was also familiar with this.

After all, they had just seen it.

”Raw food is wrong, barbaric, backward! The great Gaga Chickens are an excellent, advanced civilization, roasting it is the right taste! Roast it well, then eat it!!”

With a cheer, the Gaga Chickens pounced, holding something like short spears, and stabbed the roasted bear, then tore off its meat and began to sing.

”Delicious food I love the most, the roasted Doodooloo Bear is the sweetest, eat the brain, eat the eyes, the tongue is deliciously crispy...”

”Sorry, I need to go to the restroom.”

Before the song ended, Feli turned pale and covered her mouth while leaving, and Black Cat next to her was also swaying, looking like she couldn’t hold it anymore. Asuna had completely closed her eyes, not daring to watch, and the others didn’t look much better. Only Kurumi and Iona looked quite calm, as for the former, this was nothing much, and for the latter... perhaps it was the same?

Finally, this scene ended with the Gaga Chickens inviting ”Welcome our new friends to taste Doodooloo Bear together.”

”..........”

Deathly silence filled the air.

”Cough cough.”

After a moment, Fang Zheng coughed to break the silence, then he looked at the others.

”So... shall we go... take a look?”
