Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

For Professor Amitici, the experience of that night forever changed his life.

What Fang Zheng didn’t know was that the unlucky guy Francis told him about, who was bitten to death by a dog, was actually the tall man with a goat-like face, looking extremely eerie, whom Fang Zheng and Professor Amitici encountered in the library on the day of the school anniversary.

At the time, this man was eager to borrow the ”Book of the Undead” from Miskatonic University’s collection, trying to complete a certain part. His behavior then caught Professor Amitici’s attention, but at the time, Professor Amitici just considered him an ordinary human. Originally, Professor Amitici planned to tell that man that even if he couldn’t take the book away, he could still transcribe the parts he needed.

However, the man’s obsession with the ”Book of the Undead” raised Professor Amitici’s vigilance, which made him abandon the idea, and with Fang Zheng’s help, they made him leave.

Afterward, Professor Amitici also wrote letters to other universities holding the ”Book of the Undead,” warning them to be wary of a young man named Wilbur Worett attempting to borrow it. This caused that man to face obstacles everywhere, unable to obtain the information he desired.

But what really disturbed Professor Amitici was that he turned out not to be human at all! But rather some kind of unimaginable, terrifying creature!

In that instant, the vague unease transformed into a sharp fear as he saw with his own eyes the non-human tissues and structures underneath that man’s body and witnessed how he melted, alongside the seemingly joyous cries of the nightingales.

This made Professor Amitici recall once again the superstitions and ancient rumors circulating in the ancient region of Dunwich, tales passed among the rural folk, dismissed as superstition and ignorance, which at that moment gained incomparable authenticity and persuasiveness.

But what pained Professor Amitici was not just these concerns.

Following this, the authorities sent a diary of Wilbur Worett to Miskatonic University for interpretation. This diary was written in a completely incomprehensible language, looking like a cryptographic book. Out of interest and his knowledge of languages and mysticism, Professor Amitici volunteered to undertake the translation task.

At first, decrypting the diary was quite a struggle, but gradually, Professor Amitici finally understood the contents.

And everything therein sent chills down his spine.

The diary depicted the horrifying activities of the Worett family—they worshipped some unknowable, terrifying evil god. Moreover, the elder Worett used his daughter to bear two children with that god, one of whom was Wilbur, while the other never appeared.

But those were not the most important things. What mattered was the diary also mentioned that the Worett family attempted to use an ancient ritual to summon some terrifying ancient beings from another world, intending to obliterate everything on Earth.

The deeper Professor entered into this, the worse his mental state became. The evil lurking between the lines made him sweat and kept him awake at night.

In fact, when Francis saw the old professor again, he couldn’t help but be startled.

”Are you alright, Professor Amitici?”

”Ah, it’s you, Francis.”

Seeing the young man before him, Professor Amitici relaxed somewhat. He remembered this young man distinctly, not just because he was the first to arrive at the scene, but also because he remained calm, even now.

”Is there something you need from me, child?”

”Well...”

Faced with Professor Amitici, Francis hesitated for a moment but then spoke softly.

”Well... Professor Amitici, I just wanted to say, if there’s anything I can help with, maybe I could lend a hand, you know, about that creature thing...”

Upon hearing this, Professor Amitici immediately became tense, nervously glancing around before looking at Francis again.

”How do you know, child? I should have told you not to disclose this to others.”

”But this is different, Professor.”

Saying this, Francis mustered up his courage.

”I know what you’re thinking, but I assure you, my understanding of all this is much deeper than you might imagine. In fact, I’ve encountered similar things, and not just once.”

”Oh?!”

Hearing this, Professor Amitici was amazed, swiftly inviting Francis into the room.

”Really?”

”Of course, though it might seem quite unbelievable...”

Facing Professor Amitici, Francis recounted his experiences, sharing his encounters in the mysterious small town of Innsmouth around Arkham, and later, the terrifying ancient existence they faced in the seas around Greenland. He also spoke of the life-like colors emerging from a meteorite from the sky.

Listening to Francis’ narration, Professor Amitici felt his body start to tremble once more. Although Francis wasn’t the best storyteller and even stumbled a bit, the hair-raising twisted malevolence contained in the story was strikingly similar to what Amitici sensed from Wilbur’s diary.

”So... young man, can you... banish those creatures?”

”No, no, no, I can’t do that, Professor.”

Faced with Professor Amitici’s inquiry tinged with hope, Francis hastily waved his hands.

”But Mr. Van Helsing can!”

”Mr. Van Helsing... Ah, it’s him.”

Upon hearing Francis’s reply, Professor Amitici pondered for a moment before recalling the young man whom he had met briefly in the library during the school celebration.

”Him...?”

”Yes, Professor Amitici, you might think Mr. Van Helsing is too young, but I can assure you he has quite formidable power. In fact, all the things I’ve encountered were avoided thanks to his help. He has saved our world from those evil beings more than once, so... my point is, if you have any difficulties or unsolvable problems, you can ask Mr. Van Helsing for help. I’m sure he would be very willing to assist you.”

”I see... Thank you, I understand.”

Upon hearing this, Professor Amitici somewhat understood the purpose of Francis’s visit. Although he wasn’t very familiar with Fang Zheng yet, Professor Amitici already had some ideas.

After seeing off Francis, Professor Amitici returned to translating the diary. He was almost tireless, as if possessed, reading the entire diary, then took a short nap before stumbling, grabbing the diary, and rushing out of the library.

”Knock knock knock! Knock knock knock!!”

The intense knocking startled Fang Zheng and Little Angel, even Ryoko Asakura stood up with uncertainty.

”What’s going on? I didn’t take any payday loans, who dares to come and collect debts?”

Fang Zheng stood up, put on his coat, and internally wondered if the Federal Reserve discovered he hacked their money to make trouble? It shouldn’t be, the Federal Reserve has such ability?

In so many worlds, the FBI couldn’t catch him, could this world without even a satellite catch him?

That’s really unbelievable.

”Go open the door.”

”Alright, master.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s order, Ryoko Asakura quickly walked to the door to open it, then conversed with someone briefly and returned helplessly.

”Master, it’s Professor Henry Amitici from Miskatonic University, he says he has an urgent matter to discuss with you.”

”Professor Amitici... Oh, it’s that old gentleman.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng finally breathed a sigh of relief.

”Let him in.”

As soon as the words fell, rapid footsteps were heard outside, then Fang Zheng saw Professor Amitici rush in headlong.

”Mr. Van Helsing, save me!”

”......Um, professor, what’s happened to you?”

Looking at Professor Amitici’s distraught appearance, Fang Zheng was also taken aback.

Also, this isn’t the police station, why are you shouting for help here?

Although somewhat bewildered, Fang Zheng still asked Ryoko Asakura to prepare some tea, and after drinking a cup of hot tea, Professor Amitici relaxed a little, and only then did he take out the diary and stutteringly tell Fang Zheng about his discovery.

To Professor Amitici, this was nothing short of a nightmare, but to Fang Zheng...

”A monster that a watchdog can bite to death... I believe it has some sinister ploys, but endangering the world...”

Flipping through the diary, Fang Zheng shook his head, honestly, after hearing the situation from Francis, Fang Zheng basically didn’t pay much attention to it.

After all, how weak must an enchanted clan be to be bitten to death by a dog? Even Deep Divers aren’t this weak.

”...Hmm?”

However, just at this moment, Fang Zheng saw the spell text at the back of the diary, where a name caught his attention.

Yog-Sothoth?

Could this matter be related to Yog-Sothoth?

If that’s the case, then Fang Zheng could not ignore it, since it relates to Yog-Sothoth... Then wouldn’t this be a chance to get in touch with Yog-Sothoth?

”I understand now.”

Thinking this, Fang Zheng had made up his mind, closed the diary in his hand, then looked up at the terrified Professor Amitici, and smiled faintly.

”I will handle this matter.”
