Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Fang Zheng never imagined that he was only a day late, and one of the houses had already been burned down?

To be safe, he even sent Nymph to scout, but when Nymph returned she reported that it was burned down to the point that even ghosts wouldn’t remain. She also relayed the case records she had stolen from the police to Fang Zheng.

”So it was a bunch of idiots who broke in to steal, then fought over the spoils, massacred each other, and set the house on fire?”

Fang Zheng looked at the documents in his hand with a strange expression, feeling as if there was something wrong with his eyes.

”These people must have something wrong with their brains!”

”Actually, they definitely have problems with their brains.”

At this point, Ryoko Asakura also came over with a mischievous smile.

”Oh? What do you mean?”

”That patient just now has been transferred to the psychiatric department. I heard he was extremely agitated, screaming and shouting. According to the police, he’s the one who set the fire, and based on the investigation, it seems that before setting the fire he took a kitchen knife and killed his accomplices.”

”Indeed a lunatic...”

Fang Zheng shook his head, then stood up.

”Forget it, I’ll go have a look.”

Just as Ryoko Asakura said, Fang Zheng was walking onto the psychiatric ward’s turf not long after putting on his white coat when he heard shouting and yelling from a patient room far away. This made him frown slightly, and he brought Ryoko Asakura to the patient’s door, where two policemen stood, both of them looking like they were watching a pig slaughter.

”Hello, I am Dr. Haruno from the psychiatric department, can I go in and have a look?”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng showed his credentials, and the two policemen took a look before nodding.

”Alright, no problem, but please be careful, this guy is very brutal, not easy to deal with.”

”Understood.”

Fang Zheng took back his credentials, pushed open the door, and walked in. Very quickly, he saw a young man tied with restraints on the bed. He seemed like a high school student and, from his appearance, wasn’t like a delinquent. Yet his face was pale, veins bulging, he struggled furiously like an angry bull, roaring.

”Let me go! Let me go! I want to see her! She’s mine! Mine!!”

”Shut up!”

Hearing the young man’s roar, Fang Zheng’s face darkened, and he snorted coldly. Upon Fang Zheng’s low shout, the once-yelling young man immediately shut his mouth, looking at Fang Zheng in horror. The policemen outside the door also curiously peeked in, and upon confirming there were no issues, withdrew their gaze.

”Come, let me examine you.”

Fang Zheng said as he placed his hand on the young man’s chest, resembling a doctor during auscultation. But at the same time, his eyes turned into golden dragon pupils, staring fiercely at the man in front.

”Tell me, why did you go there?!”

”Be... because...”

Staring into Fang Zheng’s eyes, the man seemed hypnotized, lowering his voice to mutter an answer.

”Because she said... she hoped we would help her... that’s her home... she has something very important there, hoped we could help her find it, so we went... But it was clearly me who found it, clearly me...”

Saying this, the man became agitated again.

”However, Yamada, that bastard, that bastard, I found it first, I was the one who got the key from the corpse first!”

”Wait, what corpse? What key?!”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng was shocked, hurriedly asking again, and the man obediently answered.

”The corpse... the corpse in the secret room, in the well, there’s a secret room... inside there’s a corpse, the key on him, that’s what she wanted, I took it, but Yamada stole it! He took the key from me, gave it to her! Then they left! It was me who found it, me, those bastards, bastards...!!”

”What does the key you mentioned look like?”

Fang Zheng asked again, and the man’s eyes grew increasingly vacant.

”I don’t know, it was silver, silver... very beautiful, beautiful, quite a beautiful key, just like, just like... haha, hahaha, ahahaha... just like her, so beautiful, ah, how didn’t I think of it, it’s her, the key is her... hahaha...”

The young man in front grew crazier, his mouth grinning wide showing a foolish smile like an idiot, drool dripping down his face, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling without any focus.

”Who is the ’her’ you mentioned?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng grew visibly annoyed, and faced with his question, the man’s expression suddenly changed.

”No, you can’t take her, she’s mine! Mine!”

Saying this, the man even stretched his arms, breaking free from the restraints, grabbing Fang Zheng.

”She’s mine, mine!!! She’s my woman! Tomie!!! I am the man who loves you the most!!!”

”What are you doing?!”

”Let him go!!”

The policemen at the door sensed something was wrong and rushed in, pressing the young man back onto the hospital bed. The young man, seemingly indifferent, frantically twisted his body, screaming and struggling so much that even two strong policemen had trouble holding him down.

”Tomie! Tomie! I’ve done so much for you, why, why are you doing this to me!!”

”.............”

Fang Zheng’s face was grim as he took two steps back. Then he made a gesture, and soon, Ryoko Asakura walked over.

”Inject him with a tranquilizer.”

”Okay.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s order, Ryoko Asakura immediately stepped forward and, with the help of the two policemen, administered a shot of tranquilizer, putting the man back to sleep. At this moment, Fang Zheng’s expression was also somber, his brows furrowed.

Tomie!

I didn’t expect this matter to tie in with her!

Fang Zheng naturally knew of Tomie, being one of Japan’s Three Great Female Ghosts alongside Sadako and Kayako. However, strictly speaking, Tomie isn’t a ghost or evil spirit like Sadako or Kayako. She is a complete life form with outstanding beauty, driving every man who sees her insane, falling madly in love with her.

Furthermore, Tomie possesses a unique charm that compels those men infatuated with her to dismember her, and most importantly, once the corpses are dismembered, each part will grow into a new Tomie... Hmm?

Thinking about it, this does seem to fit the characteristics of a Cthulhu creature.

Could Tomie, like Saya, be an Outer God Dependent of Sabrinicolas? Considering that Tomie drives everyone near her to zero SAN value and then dismembers them, with each dismembered part able to regenerate into a new Tomie, isn’t this another form of fission reproduction?

Coming to this realization, Fang Zheng immediately returned to the office and found Saya.

”Saya, do you have any siblings?”

”Huh?”

”Were you the only Black Goat offspring summoned by Dr. Yayahiko Oya?”

”Yes, at least I haven’t seen any other kin.”

In response to Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Saya shook her head.

”Then, what experiments has Dr. Yayahiko Oya conducted?”

”I don’t know, but Dad did collect some of my tissue to take to the hospital for experiments. As for the results... I don’t know.”

Crazy scientists are truly harmful.

Fang Zheng had some guesses but... still needed to confirm them first.

”Saya, you and Nymph stealthily access the hospital’s archive to investigate patient records from these years to see if there’s anyone named Tomie. I’ll have Ryoko assist you in the investigation.”

”Okay, I understand, but who is this Tomie?”

”Possibly one of your father’s experiment subjects. As for your father... hmm, based on the current clues, he is no longer alive.”

”Is that so.......”

Hearing this, Saya’s expression appeared somewhat forlorn.

”So, can I not return home?”

”No, returning is not a problem; the main thing is that the item to open the door has been taken by this woman named Tomie. Although I don’t know what she intends to do, we’ll start the investigation with her.”

As a doctor, Fang Zheng found it easy to search for patient records. It only took half a day for Nymph to find the patient files of someone named ”Fujimoto Tomie” in the archive.

”Fujimoto Tomie, seventeen years old, hospitalized due to a house fire accident, parents deceased, no relatives, third-degree burns. The patient once had suicidal thoughts, with Professor Yayahiko Oya from psychiatry responsible for their mental health treatment...”

I see.

Looking at the patient files in hand, Fang Zheng nodded. He had almost pieced together the cause and effect of the situation. In the original ”Tomie” story, it doesn’t mention why Tomie has this ability, but in this world, Fang Zheng had basically figured out a pattern. Clearly, analyzing from memory, Tomie is a beautiful girl who is quite vain about her looks.

And according to the archival data, Tomie was hospitalized due to a house fire, with third-degree burns being a severe skin injury, especially considering this was the thirties, when cosmetic surgery was unheard of. It can be said that if there were no accidents, Tomie’s life would be completely ruined.

No wonder she had suicidal thoughts.

As Saya, a Black Forest offspring, possesses strong regeneration ability, she is ultimately defeated by being frozen with liquid nitrogen in the game, meaning ordinary weapons cannot eliminate her. Dr. Yayahiko Oya apparently saw potential in Saya’s regeneration ability and possibly used Tomie as a test subject, injecting her with some substances from Saya.

Ah, the familiar formula, the familiar taste, reminiscent of Anan Town’s blood healing.

Human idiocy is inherited generation after generation.

Perhaps it’s better to burn Japan to the ground.

At this moment, Fang Zheng genuinely felt such an impulse.
