Chapter 1093: Chapter 1092: Scheming in the Shadows

At first, His Majesty was somewhat reserved towards Fang Zheng, but soon she opened up and began to chat with Fang Zheng.

”Imperial Brother, is the outside world fun?”

”What kind of clothes does everyone wear outside?”

”Why did you come back, Imperial Brother?”

”Will you leave again, Imperial Brother?”

Among His Majesty’s questions to Fang Zheng, more than half were about the outside world, and the rest were about Fang Zheng himself. Fang Zheng did not feel bothered by this and basically answered whatever he could.

”The outside world... it’s fun if you say so, and not fun if you say so. In short, there are things that make people happy and also things that make people sad.”

”As for clothes, they are quite ordinary, at least not as extravagant as in the palace.”

”I came back because it was time for me to return. As for when I’ll leave... at least I won’t be leaving anytime soon.”

Because of Fang Zheng’s gentle attitude, His Majesty unknowingly grew more and more attached to him. After all, she had always been alone in this Imperial City, and her few friends were not by her side, leaving her isolated with no one to rely on. Fang Zheng’s sudden appearance made the little girl feel as if she had finally found support.

”How nice... I also want to see the outside world.”

”Since you want to go out...”

At this point, Fang Zheng glanced at the time.

”Then why don’t we go out for a stroll now, we still have time. We can have dinner outside and maybe buy some things too.”

”Ah? Is that okay?”

Upon hearing this, His Majesty’s eyes lit up, but soon the little girl lowered her head dispiritedly.

”But they won’t let me out...”

”You don’t need to worry about that; with me here, they won’t dare to do anything to you.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng gently patted His Majesty’s little head, and upon hearing his words, His Majesty seemed to have made up her mind and nodded vigorously.

”Alright, Imperial Brother, let’s go out!”

The eunuchs’ influence within the Imperial City was, of course, not to be underestimated. In fact, when Fang Zheng intended to leave the Imperial City with His Majesty, they hurriedly came over and blocked their way.

”Your Majesty, it’s so late, where are you going?”

”The outside is very dangerous, it’s not safe for you to go out like this.”

”Isn’t it enough that I’m going with my Imperial Brother?”

With Fang Zheng backing her up, His Majesty finally dared to resist these eunuchs, but these eunuchs were clearly not so easily dealt with.

”The outside world is very dangerous; there are ill-intentioned people everywhere. If something were to happen to Your Majesty...”

”The outside is dangerous?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow and looked at the eunuchs in front of him. Facing Fang Zheng’s gaze, the eunuchs felt their hairs stand on end but still nodded with forced composure.

”Yes, Your Highness, you’ve just returned from District 11 and probably don’t know the situation here...”

However, before they could finish, Fang Zheng interrupted them.

”I recall, you assist His Majesty in governing.”

”Ah, yes... that’s correct...”

”So, under your assistance, even the capital of the Chinese Federation is not safe? Full of danger? What exactly have you been doing all these years? Hmm? It seems I need to investigate what kind of state you’ve turned the Chinese Federation into!”

”Hsss———!”

Upon hearing this, the eunuchs gasped, never expecting His Highness to be so formidable, cornering them with the accusation of ’dereliction of duty’ in just one sentence!

If they admit to it, wouldn’t it cost them their lives?!!

”No, no, that’s not what we mean. We mean that His Majesty is of imperial stature, so valuable, and if she goes out so casually and gets targeted by terrorists, you know there was a kidnapping incident involving the Governor-General of District 11 not long ago...”

”We are just going out incognito, there’s no need for a big show. As long as no one secretly leaks information, there shouldn’t be any danger.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng glanced again at the eunuchs.

”Besides, even if there’s danger, I’ll protect His Majesty.”

”But it’s not convenient for you alone, Your Highness, and who knows what means the terrorists might use...”

”I said.”

However, before the eunuchs could say more, Fang Zheng coldly interrupted them.

”You are merely eunuchs; do you dare to command the Imperial Clan?”

”No, no, we wouldn’t dare...!”

Hearing this, the eunuchs immediately lowered their heads again, not daring to breathe a word, but soon, the leader among them suddenly brightened up as if thinking of something.

”Ah yes, in that case, we ask His Highness to demonstrate his strength. We are not familiar with His Highness, but if His Highness can exhibit enough power to protect His Majesty, then we will no longer obstruct.”

”Yes, yes, exactly, we’re just concerned about His Majesty’s safety...”

At this point, the other eunuchs quickly chimed in, leaving His Majesty uncertain of what to do, only able to look expectantly at Fang Zheng for a solution. However, confronted with the eunuchs’ request, Fang Zheng didn’t even furrow a brow and quickly agreed.

”Of course, that won’t be a problem. I understand, so how do you plan to test me?”

Hearing that Fang Zheng agreed to their request, the eunuchs immediately put on smiles, exchanged knowing glances, and nodded in understanding.

”Then, please follow me...”

Soon, the eunuchs led Fang Zheng and His Majesty to the training ground within the Imperial City, but their request left His Majesty utterly astonished.

”You’re asking my Imperial Brother to face these MS?”

Gazing in shock at the four towering MS stationed in the square, His Majesty was astounded. Even as a child, she knew that human flesh was no match for such weaponry!

”There’s no choice, Your Majesty. If you’re going out, officially or incognito, strict security measures are necessary. It’s possible that terrorists have MS, and without the ability to combat MS, how could you be protected?”

The plump leader smiled at His Majesty, then turned to Fang Zheng.

”Your Highness, what do you think?”

Initially, these eunuchs wanted to give Fang Zheng a hard time and hoped he would retreat, but unexpectedly, Fang Zheng simply nodded, and then walked down the steps.

”No problem.”

”Ah? Imperial Brother?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, the eunuchs were taken aback, and His Majesty looked anxiously at Fang Zheng. However, Fang Zheng turned back and smiled at His Majesty.

”Don’t worry, this mere pile of metal doesn’t faze me.”

What arrogance!

Upon hearing this, the eunuchs’ expressions darkened. They exchanged glances, and one of the eunuchs quickly turned and left. Initially, they only intended to teach this ignorant young man a lesson, but if he chose to court death, then they wouldn’t hold back. After all, a mecha has no eyes, and if his highness were accidentally killed in such a battle, it would be an unfortunate accident.

If the eunuchs initially just harbored apprehensions towards Fang Zheng, now it was clear they intended to kill him. Fang Zheng’s demeanor had proved he held no regard for these eunuchs and even posed a threat to eliminate them!

In such circumstances, striking preemptively was their only option!

At that moment, even if blame were to be assigned, it would fall upon the pilots and not trace back to them.

With this in mind, the eunuchs fixed their gaze on Fang Zheng’s back, a sinister grin appearing on their faces.

Die!
