Chapter 1084: Chapter 1083: The Petty Bourgeoisie’s Incorrigible Compromise

When Fang Zheng returned to the hotel after a satisfying meal, it was already late at night. However, to his surprise, the young girls weren’t asleep but were waiting for him in the room.

”Yo, everyone’s back? How was it? Did you have fun?”

Fang Zheng waved at the girls with one hand carrying takeout, and they nodded but said nothing. Only Nobiru stood up, clenching her fist, looking at Fang Zheng.

”Big brother, so many things happened today, why didn’t you tell us?”

”Because telling you wouldn’t make any difference.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng looked towards Black Cat.

”Where is that little girl?”

”She’s already exhausted. I had Natsuse and Midori accompany her for dinner and a bath, and now she’s asleep.”

”That’s good.”

Upon hearing Black Cat’s response, Fang Zheng nodded and casually placed the takeout on the table.

”Come, have some food. I just found a genuine Chinese restaurant. Tsk, their roast chicken and Peking duck were quite good, but I don’t eat duck... I’ll leave it to you. There are dumplings and braised lion’s head over here; I also brought Buddha’s delight and shaomai...”

”Big brother!”

Watching Fang Zheng pulling out dish after dish like performing trickery, Nobiru stomped her foot in frustration.

”You haven’t told us, what’s the point of saying it’s useless if you tell us? If you tell us, we can go and help too!”

”What can you do if you come over?”

Upon hearing Nobiru’s question, Fang Zheng raised his eyebrows and casually pulled out a plate of scrambled eggs with tomato.

”Or rather, what do you want to do?”

”Of course, we want to drive out all those annoying Britannia soldiers and protect everyone else!”

”And then? Do you want our Heavenly Dao Palace to declare war on Britannia?”

”Uh......”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s response, Nobiru was momentarily at a loss for words, while Fang Zheng casually pulled up a chair and handed a pair of chopsticks to Nobiru.

”Come, sit down and eat a bit, we can talk while eating... Hmm, this braised lion’s head isn’t bad, give it a try.”

Reluctantly acknowledging Fang Zheng’s words, Nobiru grudgingly picked up a piece of lion’s head, put it in her mouth, and glared at him without saying a word. Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders and then looked at the others.

”In truth, if Britannia hadn’t gone too far, I wouldn’t have planned to intervene in this matter. But given the circumstances, the reason I stepped in, apart from their own actions, is mainly because I want you to personally see and experience what sort of situations require our Heavenly Dao Palace’s involvement and when to remain uninvolved. Regarding this incident, I think you’ve already learned the details from Asuna and the others, so what do you think the residents of District 11 will do after today?”

”I think they should rise up and resist, right?”

Fumie Busei timidly raised her hand and shared her thought.

”After all, everyone has seen how the Britannian army mercilessly slaughtered and suppressed these people. They will definitely stand up and resist, won’t they...”

”Exactly, we should help them expel the Britannians completely from this land! This was originally their territory; those invaders should be the ones to leave!”

Now Yuki also joined in.

Facing the indignation of the young girls, Fang Zheng chuckled.

”Come, come, eat the dishes... As for what happens next... we’ll know tomorrow.”

”......Tomorrow?”

As Fang Zheng said, early the next morning, he received a secret contact from the rebels, then brought Kurumi, Asuna, and others to the designated location to meet with them.

”Although I don’t know who you all are, we are extremely grateful for your help.”

After a night of deliberation, the rebels seemed to have made a decision. The curly-haired man in front tightened his fists, looking excitedly and eagerly at Fang Zheng.

”Did you hear the voices on the streets? People have finally realized the situation we’re in and the treatment we face! We can finally stand up and loudly oppose it all!”

”Well, congratulations to you then...”

In response to the curly-haired man’s gratitude, Fang Zheng continued to smile, while the red-haired girl beside the curly-haired man seemed to sense something amiss. She looked at Fang Zheng suspiciously and then at the curly-haired man beside her, slightly furrowing her brows.

”So, what do you plan to do next?”

”We will organize the populace to protest and demonstrate against the Britannian government! We demand the cancellation of our District 11 identity and reinstatement of our honorable Japanese identity! We also demand equal treatment with Britannian citizens and the abolition of concentration camps! We desire a better life!”

At this point, the curly-haired man excitedly clenched his fists and started waving, his companions behind him nodded along. Only the red-haired girl was dumbfounded, looking at the curly-haired man with a ”Are you kidding me?” expression.

In fact, not only the red-haired girl but even Asuna, Black Cat, and Eiriri, as well as the young girls watching through their personal terminals, were all equally baffled.

”Because of your help, both the Eurasian Federation and the Chinese Federation have now become involved and started to show concern over this issue. I think this time, we’ll definitely succeed!”

”Wait, wait, Ougi, what are you saying?!”

The red-haired girl finally reacted, hastily grabbing the curly-haired man’s collar.

”What do you mean by this? Didn’t we agree to overthrow Britannian rule and take back the country for ourselves? What do you mean? Do you want to abandon our ideals?!!”

”This isn’t abandonment, Karen.”

Yet, facing the red-haired girl’s reproach, Ougi, the curly-haired man, reached out to hold her shoulders, looking at her.

”Britannia is too big, it’s such a powerful country, we simply can’t defeat it. But now, we have a chance to achieve everything we once hoped for! And without sacrificing civilians or watching our comrades die! Don’t you think that’s a good thing, Karen? Initially, our goal was to make our people live better lives, wasn’t it?”

”......???”

Now the red-haired girl looked at the curly-haired man as if she was staring at an idiot, yet the curly-haired man didn’t say much, he just raised his head and smiled at Fang Zheng.

”Thank you, we will seize this opportunity and strive hard, this time, we will definitely succeed! Now, we’re going to organize the parade!”

After saying this, the curly-haired man turned and left with his companions, leaving the red-haired girl standing there like a statue.

Fang Zheng kept his smiling face throughout, saying nothing.

Until after a moment, when the rebels disappeared, Asuna murmured.

”What does this even mean......”

”Yeah, what kind of nonsense is this!”

Now Eiriri also jumped up.

”What a joke, yesterday the Britannians killed so many of your people, you even told us in person that you’d definitely overthrow Britannia, and now after a night, look at what he’s saying? Although the curly-haired man didn’t say it explicitly, everyone present is quite aware. He’s essentially saying that if Britannia meets their demands, then they don’t mind joining Britannia!

What happened to the promise to struggle for the bitter fight?

What happened to the vow to reclaim our land?

Are you kidding me?!

We were ready, if you were willing to resist, we would certainly offer help, but in the end... just what kind of nonsense is this!

”Mr. Fang Zheng, you seem to have foreseen this.”

Compared with the utterly confused Asuna, Eiriri, and Black Cat, Kurumi seemed more curious about Fang Zheng.

”Did you already know this would happen?”

”Of course, the petty bourgeoisie’s tendency for compromise is like this.”

Facing Kurumi’s inquiry, Fang Zheng shrugged.

”As laborers, they lean towards the proletariat in thought; however, as owners, they lean towards the bourgeoisie in stance. Thus, in the revolutionary struggles, to protect their interests, they are willing to stand up and fight against the bourgeoisie. But once their own interests are satisfied, they immediately give up on continuing the revolution, even siding with the bourgeoisie. Believe it or not, if negotiations between that curly-haired man and the Britannian government go smoothly, they’ll turn around and sell us out.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng snorted disdainfully.

”That’s why I said from the start, these people are beyond saving.”
