Chapter 1090: Chapter 1089: A Day Together

”Wuaa!”

With a scream, a girl with long pink hair fell from the sky. Fang Zheng took a step back, then reached out his hand and caught the falling girl steadily.

”Ah... Thank you...”

The girl in Fang Zheng’s arms was startled for a moment, then gave him an embarrassed smile.

”I’m sorry, I was too rude.”

”It’s nothing, I just didn’t expect such a beautiful and cute lady to fall from the sky.”

Facing the girl’s apology, Fang Zheng also smiled, and seeing his smile, the girl’s pale cheeks couldn’t help but tinge with a bit of blush.

”Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng placed the girl on the ground and was about to turn and leave. However, at that moment, the girl with pink hair seemed to have thought of something, and she called out to Fang Zheng.

”Um... Excuse me, sir, please wait a moment!”

”Hmm? Is there anything else?”

”Um... Right, it’s like this!”

Facing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, the girl hesitated for a moment, then seemed to remember something and clapped her hands.

”I’m being chased by bad people, if possible, could you take me away from here?”

”Chased by bad people?”

Hearing the girl’s answer, Fang Zheng was taken aback, then carefully looked at the pink-haired girl in front of him, and nodded.

”Alright, that’s no problem at all, miss.”

And so, Fang Zheng and this ”Sister Lin” from the sky, started wandering leisurely around the district.

”My name is Yuffie, may I ask what your name is...?”

”Fang Zheng.”

”Mr. Fang Zheng? You’re not Japanese, are you?”

”I’m from the Chinese Federation, here for sightseeing.”

Fang Zheng quickly introduced himself — after all, that’s exactly what it says on his fake identification.

”Oh, sorry, have I taken up your time?”

”No.”

Facing Yuffie’s apology, Fang Zheng shook his head.

”In fact, my sightseeing here is pretty much at an end, and...”

”And...?”

”Being able to walk with such a lovely lady is much better than wandering aimlessly by myself.”

”Ah...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s unreserved compliment, Yuffie’s face couldn’t help but flush slightly.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, you’re being too direct...”

”I’m just speaking the truth.”

Hearing this, Yuffie blinked and gave Fang Zheng a mischievous smile.

”So, Mr. Fang Zheng is willing to save me also because I’m very pretty?”

”Of course.”

”What if I were very ugly?”

”Then I’d take you to a safe place and then politely excuse myself.”

”... Don’t you think judging people by appearance is a bit too much?”

Facing Fang Zheng’s answer, Yuffie pouted, dissatisfied, whereas Fang Zheng showed no sign of regret.

”Judging by appearance is the first step, humans are ultimately visual creatures; beauty is a bonus.”

”But isn’t it necessary to evaluate someone based on their inner qualities?”

”Inner qualities are something to understand after getting familiar with each other. Before that, if you can’t show an attractive side, no matter what the inner qualities are, they won’t get noticed.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng looked at Yuffie.

”If when you jumped down, you met someone wearing shabby clothes, overweight, with greasy hair, thick glasses, looking at your body with a lewd gaze and then giggling ’Miss, do you need help?’ How would you react?”

”Uh...”

Yuffie frowned, thought for a moment, then gave Fang Zheng an innocent smile.

”I’d say ’I’m sorry, I don’t need any help, I have urgent matters, please excuse me.’

”You don’t want to understand their inner qualities? Maybe that chubby guy is a pure and kind-hearted person who simply wants to help you, don’t you think?”

”... Let me think about it more.”

Saying this, the two looked at each other for a moment, and then Yuffie burst out laughing.

”... Hahaha, Mr. Fang Zheng really is a strange person.”

”Really?”

”Yes, I’ve never met anyone like Mr. Fang Zheng, usually, I wouldn’t say these things in front of others, but with Mr. Fang Zheng, I feel like I can say anything... Somehow, Mr. Fang Zheng feels like a father...”

”... Do I really look that old?”

”Oh, I don’t mean that.”

Yuffie waved her hand in a fluster, then lowered her head in embarrassment.

”I mean it’s very reassuring to be around Mr. Fang Zheng, no need to worry about what I say. It gives a very reliable feeling...”

”Thank you for your compliments, Miss Yuffie, but I’m a little disappointed.”

”Huh? Why? Did I say something rude?”

”Because if Miss Yuffie sees me as a father, then we can’t become lovers, can we?”

”Huh... huh?!”

Upon hearing this, Yuffie didn’t react immediately, but the next moment, her face turned bright red.

”Wait, wait, Mr. Fang Zheng, isn’t this a bit too fast? After all, we just met...”

”Don’t worry, Miss Yuffie, I was only joking.”

Teasing the beautiful girl in front of him, Fang Zheng relaxed considerably. Look, this is life, strolling down the street with a pretty, cute girl, chatting about random things, flirting, eating, sleeping... Ah, life like this is truly perfect.

”Really, please don’t make such jokes; it startled me.”

Yuffie complained dissatisfiedly, then sighed, feeling a complex mix of emotions inside her, unsure if she felt disappointment or regret, or perhaps...

”Get out, 11th District resident!”

However, at this moment, a furious shout interrupted their conversation. They looked up to see a group of Britannians pushing an 11th District resident around.

”What are you doing here? You loser from a defeated country!”

”What did you say? Britannian dogs! I’ll fight you!!”

However, the 11th District resident, clearly unable to bear such insults, quickly charged forward, and the two sides tussled together.

”Ah...”

Seeing this scene, Yuffie wanted to step in, but was quickly held back by Fang Zheng’s hand on her shoulder.

”Mr. Fang Zheng?”

”It’s better not to get involved.”

”Huh? Why?”

”If you go over, it would only cause harm.”

”But we can’t just ignore it like this... Stop it!”

As she spoke, Yuffie rushed forward again, stepping into the crowd to stop the fight.

”Don’t you think this is going too far?”

”Hah? It was this jerk who started hitting first! How is it our fault then?”

However, the Britannians obviously did not agree with Yuffie’s words, but seeing she was also a Britannian, they let go and backed away.

”These 11th District residents are ungrateful scoundrels! The Governor already agreed to peace talks and signing a treaty with them, and yet they dared to kidnap the Governor at the treaty venue, making outrageous demands! They’re just a waste of resources in this world!”

”Exactly, ungrateful dogs; we should have wiped them all out from the start!”

Angrily speaking, the leading man kicked the 11th District resident on the ground, then spit contemptuously.

”Forget it, let’s go!”

Saying this, the group grumbled and left while Yuffie hurried over to the person, reaching out a hand.

”Are you alright...”

However, to Yuffie’s surprise, the person slapped her hand away.

”Don’t come near me, you Britannian bitch!”

”Huh?”

Yuffie stared blankly at this scene, but the 11th District resident slowly got up, his bloodstained face full of twisted hatred and anger.

”I’ll kill you; one day, all you Britannians will be wiped out! Wiped out! Not one left!!”

Murmuring as if cursing, the man turned like an undead and vanished into the crowd.

Yuffie sat dazed on the ground, watching the man’s disappearing figure. At this moment, Fang Zheng walked over with his hands in his pockets.

”That’s why I said, even if you come, it won’t change anything; it’ll only result in mutual harm.”

”...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Yuffie silently stood up.

”Mr. Fang Zheng... Is... peace impossible?”

”For now, it seems so.”

Fang Zheng shrugged.

”To them, Britannia is the invader; they are the victims. You started the war, invaded their country, defeated them, stripped them of their name and everything. So, the goodwill you show means nothing to them.”

”Nothing... meaningful?”

”Yes, it’s merely the victor’s mercy to the defeated. In fact, even if an agreement is signed, nothing will change. Because everything they have is what you ’granted’ them, rather than what they ’fought’ for themselves. Since you can ’grant’, you can of course ’withdraw’ as well. That’s all there is to it.”

”Is there no solution?”

”There is, of course.”

At this point, Fang Zheng coldly smiled.

”Time. After a century, when this generation of 11th District residents involved in the war has died, perhaps their offspring will accept this reality, accept their identity. But only perhaps; otherwise, there’s only... complete obliteration.”

”Is there no other path?”

”That’s how war is. Once the chain of hatred begins, it cannot be undone until one side is eliminated.”

”...”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s answer, Yuffie paused for a moment in silence, then seemed to think of something, looking up at Fang Zheng.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, could you accompany me to Shinjuku?”
