Chapter 591: Chapter 590 A Suitable Night for Hunting

”Woo...Ah...”

At this moment, the person impaled by Fang Zheng’s greatsword was still struggling, with fresh blood dripping down the blade to the ground. No matter how one looked at it, it seemed like an innocent person trying desperately to call for help. But when Fang Zheng approached him from the front, he realized something was amiss.

The man before him showed no expression of fear or pain; instead, he opened his mouth wide, looking like a mad dog. His eyes were a weird shade of red, and through his gaping mouth, Fang Zheng could even see the man’s sharp canine teeth and...

”What is this?”

Fang Zheng pressed on the man’s head and then looked at his neck, quickly noticing two small wounds there.

Which meant...

”This isn’t human, but a vampire?”

Fang Zheng withdrew the greatsword, and soon, the man who fell from the wall didn’t hesitate, charging at Fang Zheng once again. But just as he jumped up from the ground, his head and body were severed completely by the swift slash of the sword, falling to the ground lifelessly.

”What in the world is this place?”

Fang Zheng gripped his greatsword tightly again and looked around. Judging by the architecture here, this should be a modern village. But it was pitch black, save for a few lights here and there, and eerily silent, devoid of any sound. Fang Zheng walked back to where he had been before and checked the corpses he had killed. He breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that these bodies had clearly been dead for a while, at least... they weren’t killed by him just now.

Fortunately, how could he, a paladin, kill the innocent, right?

But as of now, where is this place?

Fang Zheng had no clues. He could only tell from the appearance of the corpses and the buildings that this place must be somewhere in Europe and America, but when it came to vampires... Fang Zheng was at a loss. He had not seen many vampire movies, only Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Van Helsing, but both of them were set in medieval Europe, not the modern era. Of course, there were many similar plots in those B-grade European and American blood-fests, but Fang Zheng tended to stay away from those...

”Bang, bang, bang!!”

Just then, a succession of gunshots rang out in the distance. Hearing the gunshots, Fang Zheng’s spirits lifted. Although he didn’t know what was happening here, the sound of gunfire indicated there was a fight, which meant that if he followed the gunshots, he might obtain some information.

The gunshots were growing more urgent and concentrated, and Fang Zheng hastened his pace, sprinting towards the source of the sound. Along the way, he saw many corpses—those of ordinary people and of policemen wearing uniforms and bulletproof vests. It looked as if a ”Resident Evil”-like outbreak had occurred, and as per the usual pattern, the police troops sent to eliminate zombies had been wiped out... Thankfully, this place was just a small village; otherwise, Fang Zheng might have wondered if he had ended up in Raccoon Town.

”Bang! Bang, bang!!”

The gunfire grew more intense, signaling a heated battle ahead, but just as Fang Zheng stepped into the forest, the gunshots abruptly stopped.

What’s going on?

With the gunshots ceasing, Fang Zheng paused, pondering. If the gunfire had stopped, then the fight was over. And if the fight was over, then... which side had emerged as the victor?

And when Fang Zheng arrived at the scene of battle, the fighting had already ended.

”What is this...”

Looking at the scene before him, Fang Zheng furrowed his brow. Under the moonlight’s silver glow, corpses littered the forest, with blood richly smeared everywhere. Most of the bodies on the ground were torn and fragmented, and judging by their wounds, they seemed not to have been caused by edged weapons but more like the impact of artillery shells piercing through.

However, what drew Fang Zheng’s attention wasn’t the corpses, but the figure standing amidst them.

It was a tall man with a red broad-brimmed hat and an overcoat, cradling the body of a female officer and bending down to her neck. What the man was doing needed no explanation to Fang Zheng.

He was drinking blood.

In other words... he was a vampire.

”Hmm?”

At that moment, the man seemed to sense Fang Zheng’s presence too. He turned to look at Fang Zheng, then his expression showed surprise.

”Who are you?”

”This is my problem, Vampire.”

Confronting the inquiry of the man in red, Fang Zheng raised his greatsword, fixing his gaze on him.

”Did you kill these people here?”

”These here?”

In response to Fang Zheng’s question, the man in red cracked a smile, revealing a mocking grin. He turned his head to look at the corpses around, then let out a cold laugh. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

”What if I say... yes?”

”Then, you’d better be ready to die as well.”

No sooner had he spoken than Fang Zheng’s figure blurred, and in the blink of an eye, he appeared beside the Vampire, his greatsword sweeping through the air to slash at his body!

Confronted with Fang Zheng’s sudden attack, the Vampire clearly wasn’t surprised. He raised his white pistol and ”clang,” blocked Fang Zheng’s swinging greatsword. And at the moment he blocked the attack, a hint of surprise crossed the Vampire’s face.

”This strength... you’re really interesting... ”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng saw the Vampire suddenly swing his right hand, brushing aside his greatsword, then he lifted his weapon, aimed at Fang Zheng, and pulled the trigger!

”Bang!!”

In the nick of time, Fang Zheng abruptly dropped down, and the spinning bullet grazed his shoulder with a scorching trajectory, shooting past to hit the forest behind. At the same moment, Fang Zheng’s pitch-black greatsword once again traced an arc from the ground, swinging fiercely up from behind, and cleaving into the Vampire’s body!

”Argh!!”

Struck by Fang Zheng’s lethal blow, the Vampire spat out blood, his body tilting backward as he fell.

”It’s over, rest in peace, Vampire.”

Accompanying Fang Zheng’s words, the sharp edge of the pitch-black sword cleanly sliced the Vampire’s body from the left shoulder diagonally to the right side of his waist, bisecting him laterally; then Fang Zheng gripped his greatsword again, thrusting it forward with ease, piercing the Vampire’s head as if it were tofu.

”Thud.”

The Vampire’s corpse fell to the ground, motionless. Blood flowed out from his body, blending with the murky, foul-smelling blood around.

”Is this all you’ve got?”

Looking at the Vampire’s corpse before him, Fang Zheng snorted coldly, then flicked his sword to throw the Vampire’s decapitated head on the ground. He then glanced at the battlefield before turning to leave.

But at that moment, a low chuckle sounded.

”Heh heh heh... heh heh heh... interesting... really interesting...”

Hearing this voice, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow. Turning around, he saw the Vampire’s body earlier suddenly disintegrate into countless black bats that flew into the air, then they reassembled, and quickly, the man in red who had been there before reappeared before Fang Zheng. But this time, he wasn’t wearing those red sunglasses, and his crimson eyes stared at Fang Zheng with madness.

The Vampire stretched out his right hand, gesturing with a hooked finger towards Fang Zheng.

”Come, human, show me your capabilities.”

”Since you’re not willing to die just like that, then I have no other choice,” Fang Zheng said, his expression cold as ice. He swung his pitch-black greatsword fiercely with his right hand, and in the next moment, flames erupted from the blade.

”Then, let me turn you into ashes!”
