Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 590: Chapter 589: A World That Begins with Blood and Death!

”Huff...!”

Fang Zheng could feel the wind howling past his ears as he plummeted rapidly from the sky. Yet even so, he was in no mood to care about any of that, as his entire focus was now on the battle within his soul against the Power of the Abyss.

The method Fang Zheng thought of was the so-called ”better to drain than to block.” Since the Dark Soul was an indispensable part of everyone, rather than forcibly suppressing this power, it was better to find a way to control it, to guide and manage this force in a direction he desired.

But this was not going smoothly.

The berserk energy of the Abyss was incredibly wild. Fang Zheng felt as if his sanity was like a racer speeding full throttle in an AE86 on Akina Mountain, and what’s more, it seemed that the brakes had failed at the current moment.

Thus, Fang Zheng had no way to stop its ongoing rush; he could only clutch tightly to the steering wheel, waiting for the moment when its energy would run out.

Of course, that was assuming he didn’t crash before then.

”Thud!!”

Fang Zheng heavily crashed to the ground, the impact and pain from beneath him temporarily easing the violent assault of the Power of the Abyss. Groaning, Fang Zheng shakily rose from the ground, his right hand firmly clutching the greatsword, using it like a cane to support his body, and then, Fang Zheng lifted his head to look ahead.

Fang Zheng was relieved that the rampage of the Power of the Abyss seemed not to have affected his journey to the new world. However, he still couldn’t figure out where he was. Whether it was because of the fall or the influence of the Power of the Abyss, his vision was blurry, barely able to make out a circle of light and shadow outlines — fortunately, if Fang Zheng wasn’t mistaken, these shapes looked much like human dwellings.

Moreover, he saw several figures wavering closer to him, emitting a deep, indistinct sound.

”No... don’t come over...”

Barely standing up, Fang Zheng raised a hand in a stopping gesture. The Power of the Abyss inside his soul was still rampaging, making his emotions highly unstable. The Abyss embodied the sediment of human nature, which is why the desires from his dark side were massively amplified.

Murder, conquest, mating... Various emotions were assaulting Fang Zheng’s sanity; all he could do now was barely control everything until the Power of the Abyss calmed down by itself. Although Fang Zheng could still rely on his sanity to manage, he wasn’t sure whether he might overreact to external stimuli.

So the best thing to do now was to keep his distance from others, at least to not let them disturb him.

But those figures seemed not to have heard Fang Zheng’s words; instead, they drew closer, and Fang Zheng could faintly make out their hands reaching out as if they wanted to do something to him.

”I said don’t fucking come over, can’t you dumbasses understand human language?”

Fang Zheng’s mood was extremely irritable now. The Power of the Abyss had made him very impulsive and aggressive. In his eyes, these damn fools disregarding his warnings were simply asking for death!

However, those figures still didn’t stop; they came up to Fang Zheng and grabbed his arm.

And the moment he felt his arm being grabbed, Fang Zheng’s inner rage could no longer be contained!

You damn assholes who don’t listen, Laozi will indulge you!

”Swoosh!!”

The Pitch Black Greatsword flashed by, slicing the figure in front of him in two.

”Splurt...”

Blood sprayed out, scattering into the air like raindrops. Feeling that viscous, warm blood, Fang Zheng stuck out his tongue and licked his lips, lifting his head with his eyes shining a bright red—just like those corrupted by the Abyss!

Kill!!!

Fang Zheng couldn’t quite remember what happened next. He only remembered swinging the greatsword again and again, slashing everything in front of him to tatters. Those figures attempted to fight back with weapons, but this only fueled Fang Zheng’s rage further. He hacked all those who dared attack him into pieces—not only them, but anything alive that Fang Zheng encountered became a victim under his blade!

”Hahahahahaha!!!”

Accompanied by a maniacal laugh, Fang Zheng abruptly swung his Greatsword forward, the Pitch Black Greatsword in his hand whistling out and directly piercing the figure trying to turn and flee before him, nailing the man firmly to a nearby stone wall. Simultaneously, Fang Zheng could vaguely see another person on the other side raising a gun and beginning to shoot at him. He could see the flash of the muzzle and even felt the vibration of bullets hitting his body. However, Fang Zheng didn’t care. He felt as if he were drunk, his whole person groggy, able to engage in only very limited and direct thoughts.

That thought was... these people didn’t listen to him, they obstructed him, so these people... should all fucking die!

”Die!!”

Fang Zheng shouted loudly, charging directly towards the gunman. He accelerated into the man’s face, then promptly stretched out his hand, grabbing the man’s wrist and forcefully twisting it. Soon, accompanied by a howl of pain, the man’s wrist was broken in the opposite direction.

And hearing his howl, a burst of joy suddenly surged from the depths of Fang Zheng’s heart.

This was the feeling! This was the sensation! This power to wantonly abuse those weaker beings, to trample them mercilessly, listening to their cries of despair, watching their helpless expressions, the passion that dominated everything with conquest and sheer violence!

And...

Fang Zheng pressed down on the man’s head, pinning him firmly against the wall. The man struggled frantically, Fang Zheng even felt him open his mouth, attempting to bite his fingers, but it was useless. Soon, under the pressure of Fang Zheng’s hands, the man’s skull began to deform and then, with a ”bang”, turned into a bloody, unrecognizable mess.

...and the joy of easily having the power over life and death of others.

Fang Zheng didn’t know how much time had passed. He only knew he had been trying hard to control the Berserk Power of the Abyss. Finally, perhaps because he had vented thoroughly, the Power of the Abyss began to gradually subside, slowly becoming tame, and finally, Fang Zheng was able to guide the Power of the Abyss to where it belonged.

”Phew...”

After completing all this, Fang Zheng took a deep breath, then lifted his head and looked around.

But all he saw was devastation.

”What on earth did I just do?”

The originally blurry scene within his view gradually became clear. Fang Zheng’s eyes widened in surprise as he looked around at all the destruction.

This was clearly a town, but from the architectural style, it wasn’t one of those medieval towns like Anan. The nearby convenience store and gas station indicated it was a modern town.

But now, it had become a killing field.

Corpses were chopped into pieces all over the ground; the blood had almost pooled into a pond, innards scattered across the floor. The Pitch Black Greatsword that Fang Zheng had been holding in his right hand was now stuck in a nearby stone monument, with two bodies impaled on it. The dagger in his left hand was also stained with blood.

Not only that, Fang Zheng’s hands were everywhere covered in blood, even some white, sticky, unidentified substance was smeared on them, emitting a unique, hot, stinking odor.

”Damn it!”

Looking at the scene before him, Fang Zheng had finally come to realize, he seemed to have initiated a massacre under the influence of the Power of the Abyss!

What now?

Fang Zheng looked around, it seemed there were no survivors left, not just humans, but animals seemed to have been completely annihilated by him. This was the first time he encountered such a situation upon arriving in a new world. So what should Fang Zheng do next?

Anyway, he should leave here first.

While thinking, Fang Zheng quickly walked over to the Greatsword stuck in the wall, aiming to pull it out. At the same time, he curiously glanced at the poor soul he had skewered directly.

But just then, Fang Zheng was surprised to find out... the man wasn’t dead?!

No, it should be said... he wasn’t human at all?!
