Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 552: Chapter 551: Being a Stranger in a Foreign Land (Part 2)

It’s no wonder Fang Zheng would have such complaints, for no matter how he looked at it, the creature he had just killed closely resembled a werewolf— or rather, was exactly the same. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

A world occupied by werewolves? No, that’s not right...

Fang Zheng lowered his head, carefully examining the corpses on the ground. Judging from their outward appearance and clothing, the two who had been the werewolves’ dinner should have been human. But upon closer inspection, he discovered that although their heads had been completely smashed beyond recognition, their bodies exhibited non-human characteristics. For instance, the limbs of the corpses were unusually long; not only that, he also found tufts of long hair on their limbs and bodies, which looked unlike human hair and more like animal fur...

Although he didn’t know what kind of world this was, it seemed very dangerous at the moment.

Fang Zheng could feel that the air of this world was filled with the scent of blood and decadence, along with a familiar sense of decay. He had only felt such an atmosphere in the world of Black Soul where the Primordial Fire was on the verge of extinguishing—and that experience was something Fang Zheng would never forget.

”Don’t tell me this is another similar world,” he murmured.

In his right hand, Fang Zheng held a Cane Sword, and in his left, he drew a firearm from his waist. Then, poking his head out cautiously, he walked out of the building. At this moment, it was dusk outside; the entire sky was gloomy, giving one the impression that the sun was completely invisible. A strange, cold Radiance illuminated the world in front of him, filling Fang Zheng with a sense of emptiness and chill.

Looking around, he saw that the entire town seemed utterly deserted, as if it had been completely abandoned long ago. However, from the decaying goods and clutter that lay around, it was clear that this place must have once been a bustling hub. Gothic spires were everywhere, and under the illumination of the setting sun, they looked like spearheads stained with blood, or torches ablaze with flames...

”......”

As Fang Zheng pondered what to do next, suddenly, he heard the sound of footsteps. Turning his head to the side, he quickly saw a man wearing an overcoat and top hat strolling over from the other side of the street, holding a hatchet in one hand and a torch in the other. The man appeared listless, staggering as he walked.

Ah, at last, he had come across a living person!

Seeing the lackluster man, Fang Zheng breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly quickened his pace towards him.

”Excuse me, fellow villager, I’d like to ask you something...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s voice, the man turned around, staring blankly at him. But the next moment, he suddenly let out a roar and swung his hatchet towards Fang Zheng!

Dammit!

Seeing that the man had launched an attack without warning, Fang Zheng jumped back in shock, narrowly dodging the man’s assault, then raised his hands.

”Hey, let’s talk this out, why resort to violence? I just want to ask you a few questions...”

”Hunter... hunt... Hunter...”

But clearly something was very wrong with this man’s spirit; he mumbled indistinctly while once again raising his weapon to attack Fang Zheng.

”Come on, aren’t you finished yet?”

Seeing the relentless demeanor of the man before him, Fang Zheng lost his temper. Facing the hatchet that was swung at him again, Fang Zheng dashed forward and raised the firearm in his left hand, forcefully deflecting the hatchet.

”Clang!”

Accompanied by the clash, the hatchet was parried away. Fang Zheng then flicked his right hand, and his Cane Sword extended with a ”snap,” striking the man’s weapon, flinging both the hatchet and torch out of his hands. Following that, Fang Zheng kicked the man in the chest, knocking him to the ground.

”Hey, can you calm down? I mean no harm, I just want to ask a few questions...”

”Hunt... hunt...!!”

But the man seemed to have no intention of answering Fang Zheng’s questions at all. He twisted his body violently as if he’d gone mad, trying to escape Fang Zheng’s restraint and even swinging his arms to attack Fang Zheng again. After failing to communicate, Fang Zheng could only send him to the Western Paradise with one stroke of his sword.

What to do next?

Fang Zheng helplessly looked around. In front of him, the way was blocked by miscellaneous debris, making it completely impassable. On the other side, there was a large iron door, but it was closed tight and wouldn’t budge. Through the iron bars, Fang Zheng could see a switch on the other side of the Daimon, but with the distance between them, even if he reached out, he wouldn’t be able to touch it.

However...

At that thought, Fang Zheng glanced at the cane sword in his hand.

Come to think of it, this seems to be how it’s done in puzzle games.

He extended his cane sword through the gap in the iron bars of the Daimon, hooking the switch on the opposite side. Then, with a gentle pull, Fang Zheng quickly opened the previously sealed Daimon, finally finding himself a new path.

So next...

As Fang Zheng was considering his next move, he saw four men clad in overcoats, each wielding different weapons, descending from above. They were like the previous man, though these individuals seemed even more cautious, the one with a torch glancing around as if searching for something.

The previous guy was a lunatic, but people here should be better, right...?

With that thought, Fang Zheng cautiously approached and greeted them.

”Hey, folks, I wanted to ask...”

”Over here!!”

Before Fang Zheng could finish his sentence, he saw the men suddenly lift their heads to stare at him, and then they charged at Fang Zheng with their weapons raised.

What kind of people are these!

Seeing the crazy group of men, Fang Zheng was completely speechless. Were there only creatures and lunatics here? It seemed this world was not very friendly either. In that case... there was no choice but to step forward and deal with them!

Although there were many villagers, they didn’t pose much of a challenge for Fang Zheng. Facing the villagers rushing at him, he waved his right hand without hesitation, instantly transforming the cane sword in his hand into the Chain Sword. With a swift strike, the elegantly flowing Chain Sword snaked through the crowd. In an instant, accompanied by a spray of blood, the necks of the two leading men were split open, and they fell to the ground screaming, turning into corpses.

However, this gruesome scene did nothing to stop the others from attacking; on the contrary, after seeing their comrades killed, they charged at Fang Zheng like enraged beasts. Faced with these men who were no different from madmen, Fang Zheng had no choice but to swing his sword, sending them swiftly to join their fallen friends.

”What the hell is going on with this godforsaken place?”

After dispatching the group of villagers before him, Fang Zheng sighed with resignation. He had wanted to find a place to rest and figure out what kind of world he was in. However, it now seemed this world was even more troublesome than he thought, filled with lunatics and what looked like completely abandoned towns...

Can’t I find even one normal person here?
