Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 572: Chapter 571: There’s Such a Move?

For Fang Zheng, this journey was not difficult, although this world and the Anan he had previously stayed in were the same place, but the terrain had changed to a certain extent.

Perhaps because this was a different Anan—who knows what was really going on?

When Fang Zheng entered the cathedral again, he did not see the Archbishop who had previously knelt and prayed within the cathedral; even the cathedral itself was completely different from before. Fang Zheng clearly remembered that in front of the previous cathedral where the Archbishop was, there was a statue, and on the altar, a monster’s skull was enshrined. Here, however, at the deepest part of the cathedral, mysteriously, a tree had appeared; moreover, on the altar lay a huge monster’s corpse.

What should he do next?

Standing at the far end of the cathedral, Fang Zheng fell into deep thought; in this world, he had no clues nor any idea where to go.

At that moment, suddenly, that voice rang out again.

”Ah, look, this is the cathedral, but it’s a bit different from before.”

Hearing this voice, Fang Zheng turned around again and saw that Big Chin was still chattering as he walked into the cathedral. Seeing Fang Zheng, he was taken aback, then Big Chin carefully approached him and examined him from head to toe.

”Well, it seems this member of the Undead Squad isn’t planning to fight with us; he looks like he was waiting here for us. Let’s talk to him... hey, Undead Squad buddy, what are you doing here?”

”What are you doing again?”

At Big Chin’s inquiry, Fang Zheng spoke again, but unfortunately, it seemed like the other person still couldn’t hear his response. Big Chin just shrugged his shoulders and then turned away.

”Well, he still isn’t responding to us, but I think his presence here must have some purpose... hey, buddy, if you want, you can come with me.”

After saying this, Fang Zheng watched as Big Chin walked to the altar, to the dead monster, and then stretched out his hand to take an emblem embedded with an eyeball from the creature’s hand.

”Let’s see, ah, an emblem; this might be indicating where we need to go next. We need to move this way...”

While saying this, Big Chin kept mumbling as he walked towards the exit of the cathedral.

Could it be... he was the guide in this world?

Watching Big Chin’s retreating figure, Fang Zheng thought for a moment, then followed. After all, he hadn’t found any useful clues in this world, and although the werewolves here seemed much tamer than the ones in the previous Anan, he still couldn’t get any clues from them. The only ”interaction” Fang Zheng had since arriving in this world was with this man with the unbearable Big Chin.

With that thought, Fang Zheng followed Big Chin out of the cathedral, heading to the left and downward... This Anan seemed different from before, as if various areas were mixed together.

Seeing Fang Zheng’s arrival, Big Chin seemed somewhat excited.

”See, I told you he would follow, we should press on. We need to be careful here, look, there’s a hunter and he is not easy to deal with...”

While saying this, Fang Zheng saw Big Chin holding a firearm in one hand and a cane sword in the other, walking toward another hunter standing not far away. The hunter seemed to have noticed Big Chin too; he suddenly swung his chopping knife and walked toward Big Chin.

Big Chin, facing the hunter, appeared unafraid. He kept his distance while muttering to himself again.

”Let’s see, this hunter isn’t easy to deal with; his moves are quick and it’s hard to find an opening...”

”Bang!!”

Before Big Chin could finish speaking, the hunter raised his firearm and shot at Big Chin, who was clearly prepared and dodged the attack with a somersault the moment the hunter raised his gun, continuing to maintain distance. Just then, the hunter swung his knife again, and in the next moment, it transformed into a huge chain sword. The hunter then stepped back and swung the weapon toward Big Chin.

”Look, look, he’s attacking us now; we could dodge, but we could also...”

While speaking, Big Chin suddenly raised his left-hand firearm and shot at the hunter!

”Bang!!”

With the gunshot, Fang Zheng saw the hunter’s body jerk violently, then he knelt halfway to the ground, while Big Chin seized the opportunity to rush to the hunter and raised his right hand high.

”Tao Zhe Attack!”

While shouting, Big Chin forcefully scooped down with his right hand!

”Puchi!”

The next moment, Fang Zheng saw blood spraying out, and Big Chin flicked his hand, throwing a bloody, indistinct mass onto the ground. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

”.........???”

Seeing this scene, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but gasp in shock.

Could there actually be such sinister and vicious martial arts in the world?

This man must not be allowed to live!

But what on earth is a scoop attack?

Although Big Chin’s method of attack terrified Fang Zheng, after regaining his composure, he finally understood why these Hunters preferred firearms in their left hand instead of shields or daggers.

This move is very similar to Bounce Back.

Afterward, Fang Zheng followed closely behind Big Chin, carefully observing his several battles and quickly discovered their distinguishing features.

Simply put, in Fang Zheng’s view, the Spear Reversal used by Big Chin and the Bounce Back Fang Zheng knew essentially had no difference; both were techniques that interfered with and disrupted the opponent’s attack, forcing them to expose flaws and thus provide an opportunity for a lethal blow.

However, the rhythms of the two were entirely different.

The Bounce Back that Fang Zheng used focused on launching as the opponent’s weapon was descending. Simply put, it interrupted the opponent’s ”anticipation”; its principle was simple, like when you descend stairs, watching the step below, hence instinctively adjusting your force and balance to land smoothly. And your body naturally remembers the force, timing, and speed needed from this step to the next.

But if the actual distance of the step is longer or shorter than you perceive, you’d feel pain and numbness in your foot upon stepping. This discomfort arises because the step creates an illusion, causing you to use incorrect force and posture, thus losing balance.

Fang Zheng’s Bounce Back and Big Chin’s Spear Reversal both operated on this principle. They disrupted the enemy’s anticipatory attack, undermining their movement posture, causing their entire course of action to collapse, and then seizing the chance for a lethal blow.

But their timings were different.

Fang Zheng’s Bounce Back emphasized the moment when the enemy’s attack landed, an unavoidable period. By then, because the enemy’s attack was close to completion, they could not possibly alter their force, thus could only watch as their attack was shattered by Fang Zheng.

In contrast, Big Chin’s Spear Reversal focused on the opponent’s initial movement. Fang Zheng noticed that Big Chin always fired just after the opponent began to gather force, disrupting their movement posture.

The commonality between these two techniques was their exploitation of the instant when an enemy could not alter their move mid-attack, destroying the opponent’s posture and anticipation, achieving a halt and counterattack.

The only difference was that one was after the commencement, and the other just before the landing.

But... this technique seems pretty useful too?

Previously, Fang Zheng hadn’t seen such techniques. Considering that those Hunters wielded firearms, they must all know this battle skill. However, first, all of the Hunters’ attacks were dodged by Fang Zheng, so he hadn’t had the chance to experience it personally (now seeing Big Chin’s attack, Fang Zheng was glad he hadn’t experienced it).

And secondly... no one around him seemed to have used this technique. In the previous fight between Eileen and that yellow-clad Hunter, Fang Zheng had only seen both of them exchanging gunfire, so he hadn’t thought about this aspect, especially since that time, neither side had executed a Spear Reversal.

As an experienced warrior, Fang Zheng certainly understood the advantages of Spear Reversal. A firearm’s range was definitely longer than a sword, also easier to gain the upper hand and strike unexpectedly.

What’s more crucial was that with the different timings of Bounce Back and Spear Reversal, this meant that if Fang Zheng could master Spear Reversal, then he could consecutively use Spear Reversal and Bounce Back twice in one of the enemy’s attacks. Even if the first Spear Reversal did not succeed, Fang Zheng could still ensure a kill with Bounce Back.

So the remaining question was......

With this in mind, Fang Zheng glanced at the silver short sword in his left hand.

He didn’t have a third hand, after all......

But unexpectedly, just as he was fretting over this, suddenly, Fang Zheng felt the silver short sword he was holding in his left hand starting to tremble slightly!
