Chapter 568: Chapter 567: The Dark Behemoth Appears Again

Brilliant thunder exploded in all directions from the dark creature, forcing Fang Zheng and Eileen to retreat, while the dark creature itself stared fixedly at Fang Zheng, its eyes blood red.

”How did you find out?”

”Cut the crap, can’t you swallow whatever’s at the corner of your mouth before you speak next time?!”

Fang Zheng thought, isn’t that obvious? When the man spoke, Fang Zheng and Eileen could see the bits of flesh at the corner of his mouth, and together with the corpses by his side, if they really believed this idiot, wouldn’t they be idiots themselves?

Wanting to be an actor with that behavior, are you insulting our intelligence?

”A dark creature!?”

However, seeing the black beast surrounded by lightning, Eileen was shocked.

”How, how is this possible? Why would there be a dark creature here?”

”Who cares how it got here, let’s take it down first!”

Fang Zheng didn’t care about the origins of the black beast; whether to dissect it or interrogate it could wait until after it was defeated. Instead of shouting nonsense, you might as well help me get in a backstab to trigger a stun!

”Roar!!”

As the dark creature faced Fang Zheng, it lunged at him with a roar, raising its right claw and revealing a series of lightning bolts before striking down forcefully. Fang Zheng took the opportunity to roll away just in time to see the dark creature’s claw hit the ground, sending the flickering lightning scattering like a whip, splashing across the ground.

An Attribute Level creature, this one could be troublesome.

Looking at the lightning entwined around the black beast, Fang Zheng also frowned slightly. This creature was completely different from those he’d encountered before; the main thing was that it could utilize the power of lightning to attack. Even though this dark creature had only a rudimentary grasp of lightning, it was still troubling for Fang Zheng at the moment. He was still unable to use magic and only a part of his Power of Existence was unsealed. Facing a creature with an elemental attribute attack, he felt somewhat powerless.

But, fortunately, Fang Zheng was not fighting alone.

”Swish!”

Just as the dark creature turned to continue its pursuit, suddenly a small dagger flew past and pierced through its ear. The intense pain made the dark creature turn its head and roar, only to see Eileen, who had at some point reached the other side of the creature, holding her Dual Blades and coldly watching it.

”I’ll take you on, monster!”

”Seeking death!!”

Good timing!

Seeing Eileen had grabbed the dark creature’s attention, Fang Zheng quickly rolled on the spot to get behind it, then he gripped his Greatsword in his right hand, lifting it up and aiming at the monster before him. Sparks of fire appeared on the broad black blade, quickly engulfing the entire sword in flames. Without hesitation, Fang Zheng gripped the Greatsword tightly and thrust it forcefully into the creature!

”Ohhhhhhhhh!”

The Greatsword, ablaze with flames, stabbed into the dark creature’s posterior. The creature felt the sharp and scorching Greatsword, like a heated iron rod, piercing directly and deeply from its rear into its body, causing it such soul-piercing agony that it immediately howled in pain.

It beat the ground forcefully with its hands as if trying to vent its suffering. At the same time, the dark creature struggled desperately to shake off Fang Zheng from behind. But of course, Fang Zheng wasn’t going to let it succeed. Seeing the creature trying to break free, he quickly stepped forward, and with a ”pfft,” the Greatsword stabbed deeper into the creature’s body!

”Uuuu...!! Uuuu!!”

At this moment, the dark creature was doing more than just howling; the sounds it emitted were so horrifying that even the hardened Hunter Killers felt a chill down their spine. However, as a competent Hunter, Eileen certainly wasn’t going to miss this opportunity. Seizing the moment when the dark creature seemed powerless to resist, she dashed forward, and her Scimitar sent phantom slashes directly through the dark creature’s eyes.

”Aoooowwwww!!”

This strike also made the dark creature furiously angry. It roared and stretched out its front claw, striking forcefully at Eileen. The Hunter Killer, unable to dodge in time, was hit by the creature, then let out a muffled groan as she was sent flying into a patch of grass.

The black beast, which had suffered heavy damage, no longer exhibited its former majesty, with bolts of thunder exploding and burning all around its body. After forcing Fang Zheng and Eileen to retreat, the creature staggered in an attempt to escape. However, because Eileen had blinded its eyes and the excruciating pain from its rear end made it impossible for the black beast to quickly assess its predicament, leaving it to flail around aimlessly like a headless fly.

As it groped around attempting to flee, Fang Zheng’s greatsword once again swung down, severing the black beast’s head with a flash of crimson flame. The terrifying creature twitched for a moment before collapsing to the ground, motionless.

”This fellow was quite a hassle.”

Fang Zheng swung his greatsword, and a streak of fire emerged from the blade, instantly cleansing it of its bloodstains. He then walked over to the edge of the bushes where Eileen was slowly picking herself up, coughing and clutching her chest.

”How’s it going? Are you alright?”

Fang Zheng glanced at Eileen. The furious counterattack of the black beast was threatening; although it did not pierce through her body, it left a significant wound on the Hunter Killer. Nevertheless, she seemed to ignore it, just waving her hand,

”It’s nothing, just a scratch. I’ve got some Blood Bottles on hand...”

As she spoke, Fang Zheng saw Eileen pull out a small glass bottle from her waist, which looked about the size of an ordinary medicine bottle. She then removed the wooden stopper and swallowed the thick substance, which looked like blood, into her mouth.

No... this stuff seemed to be actual blood.

”Are you sure it’s okay to drink that thing?”

Fang Zheng watched as Eileen casually tossed the bottle aside, the smell of blood was so potent that even he could detect it. This all seemed to point to the fact that it was human blood, meaning... it really was a ”Blood Bottle”?!

”What, haven’t seen it before? This is Blood Healing.”

Seeing Fang Zheng’s expression, Eileen gave a slight smile.

”We Hunters are born from blood and have received the power of fresh blood, and now... this is our destiny... ”

As she spoke, Eileen stood up. Despite Fang Zheng’s doubts about whether that thing could truly heal, at least Eileen seemed to be in better color than before.

Not that he could see much color through the crow mask.

”But... I really didn’t expect to encounter a black beast here.”

As she said this, Eileen moved toward the corpse of the black beast, her tone becoming grave.

”Black beast? Is that thing famous?”

Fang Zheng was also carefully inspecting the body of the black beast in front of him. To him, this beast seemed no different from the other creatures he had encountered before, except, of course, that this one could speak and showed a certain level of reason, making it quite strange.

”The black beast is an extremely terrifying creature. During the early days of hunting, an old district of Anan was terrorized by a black beast, causing widespread panic and casualties. It took Henrik and others joining forces to subdue the black beast, and they even imprisoned it in the Lower City. But I never expected... to find another here, and... that it could transform into a human...”

”Couldn’t the previous creatures transform into humans?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng inquired curiously, to which Eileen nodded.

”Correct; those people’s bodies could not withstand the power of the blood any longer, which is why they turned into creatures. In fact, to this day, I have never seen anyone able to freely shift between a creature and human form. I also don’t know who he really was...”

”Whoever he was, he’s dead now.”

Fang Zheng clearly had no interest in playing detective around a dead body, and Eileen nodded in agreement.

”You’re right. Let’s keep moving, Byronvis Academy is just ahead.”
