Chapter 487: Chapter 486: Who is Calling the Fleet? (Part 1)

Countless demon creatures tried to break through the defense line through the gap, but that faint membrane, shimmering with radiance, blocked the path of these demon creatures like an unyielding city wall. The demon beasts swung their claws and fangs, spitting frost and flame as they frantically attempted to shatter the barrier before them.

But this... was just the beginning.

”Charge!!”

The howling hurricane, like a giant dragon’s breath descending from the sky, tore through the vast army of demon beasts with its wild gusts, sweeping them up. The smaller creatures didn’t even have time to react before they were blown into the air, then fell heavily to the ground amidst wails and screams.

Yet the larger demon creatures were unaffected, still advancing slowly forward, unwaveringly charging towards the gap.

Meanwhile, a cloud of black fog silently appeared in front of these large demon creatures, then quickly vanished, leaving only a fleeting purple sword shadow. In the blink of an eye, the large demon creatures were completely dismembered; their enormous bodies and heads separated, turning into chunks mixed with blood scattered across the ground.

Who exactly are these little girls?

At this moment, not far behind the gap, the Paladin and the Mage were stunned.

At first, when they saw those children charging towards the group of demon creatures, they were incredibly shocked. Even if those children possessed significant strength, these Chaos Monsters were extremely vicious! Not only that, the most troublesome aspect of their attacks was that these creatures carried Chaos Magic, and once wounded, the Chaos Magic would erode the wound.

If left untreated, a person would be completely consumed by this Chaos Magic, turning into a Demon Creature!

However, to their surprise, these children, who appeared to be under ten years old, seemed very seasoned and familiar in their battle against these creatures. They didn’t intend to clash head-on with the opponent at all, but rather, they dodged the attacks of the Chaos Beasts with great agility while striking back. Their comportment suggested that even some of the Holy Knights who had just arrived at the Northern Fortress couldn’t compare!

What on earth is the deal with these little girls?

The two of them certainly didn’t know that although in the Main World, demon beasts were a very troublesome enemy, for Natsuse and Fumie Busei, it was actually a familiar fight against this type of creature. After all, the Intestinal Creatures of the Black World posed similar dangers and characteristics to these demon beasts. When battling Intestinal Creatures, the Cursed Children also needed to be careful not to get bitten, because once injured by an Intestinal Creature, they would be injected with the Intestinal Virus, accelerating the speed of the Curse’s erosion. In the eyes of Natsuse and the others, aside from not spewing fire, there wasn’t much difference between these demon beasts and Intestinal Creatures.

And because of this, upon seeing these demon beasts, the Cursed Children were slightly surprised for a moment, then immediately engaged in combat—they were, of course, very practiced at this, since clearing Intestinal Creatures in the Black World had long been a daily task for these little girls.

”Beep beep...”

Just then, the two suddenly heard a strange mechanical sound near their ears. They quickly turned their heads and saw a weird metallic object, almost half the size of a person, floating over. It circled around the two of them and then went off on its own. Next, they saw the metal armor around the strange metal object suddenly open, and then, a streak of lightning emerged from the sphere in its center, shooting into the sky.

”———!”

The next moment, a small black hole appeared in the air, spinning rapidly as it slowly expanded. Seeing this, the Paladin widened his eyes and reached out to push the Mage beside him.

”Hey, Trickery, what is that?”

”I don’t know, it looks like some kind of automatic magic machinery?”

Upon the Paladin’s query, the Mage also observed carefully, then frowned.

”This seems to be some sort of Teleportation device, I can feel the power of space... and... huh? This feeling is...”

Muttering to himself, the Mage seemed to have realized something as he looked at the black hole, growing more astonished.

”Hey, you go and alert the others, tell them to come here to protect this little thing!”

”Huh? What are you talking about?”

Hearing the Mage’s words, the Paladin couldn’t help but be startled.

”Protect this thing? What is this? Is it important?”

”Hurry up, I can’t make it clear to you, this idiot, but if my feeling is right, then even without the Order Barrier, we can still continue to defend this line. Hurry, if those Chaos Beasts sense it, oh no, too late!!”

”Gaaah———Gaaah———!”

Before the Mage could finish speaking, the Paladin heard a series of sharp cries suddenly coming from the sky. He looked up to see thousands of Demon Ravens, like a vast cloud, rapidly bearing down on them. And their target... It couldn’t be this little golden trinket, could it?

Indeed, just as the thought crossed the Paladin’s mind, he saw the flock of Demon Ravens screeching and flapping their wings, rushing down at them like a waterfall plunging from the heavens!

This was, simply put, a suicide attack!!

”Boom!!”

But before the Demon Ravens could swoop down, suddenly a firework made of flames erupted out of nowhere, turning the dark torrent that was diving down into a dazzling display of fireworks.

Although these Demon Beasts, infected by Chaos Magic, indeed possessed speed and strength far beyond ordinary wild beasts, they were still essentially beasts. And it seemed they were quite flammable, causing the erupting flames to spread instantly in the air, even lighting up the entire earth with a bright red glow!

”Target, partially eliminated.”

Hidden in the crevice behind, Tina carefully watched the burning sky nearby. Then, the girl reached out, taking another bright red bullet from the pocket at her waist.

”Enhanced Bullet No. 3 ready...”

”Gaaah———!!”

At that moment, the Demon Ravens appeared to have noticed Tina not far away, obstructing their path. The unpleasant howl sounded again, and the ravens split in two groups, one part diving once more towards Tanji, the other heading towards Tina’s location.

But facing the peril before her, Tina’s face showed no concern at all. She didn’t even glance at the Demon Creatures about to fly over her head, instead continuing to aim ahead, and then she pulled the trigger.

”Bang!!”

With the sound of the gunshot, flames once again illuminated the sky. It was only at that moment that Tina, holding her sniper rifle, leaped up, and as she did, bright red wings emerged again behind her, lifting Tina into the air. Several Dragon Cavalry launchers rapidly rotated and spread out, forming a ring.

Just then, the other group of Demon Creatures, flapping their wings, reached Tina, uttering their annoying screeches, flocking towards Tina who was trying to put distance between them. But in the blink of an eye, several intersecting searing beams formed a giant web in the sky, right in front of this swarm of Demon Creatures.

The Demon Creatures whizzing through the air naturally had no design for brakes, and although they instinctively sensed danger, it was too late to avoid it. They could only screech as they crashed headlong into the net of light — and then were cut into pieces by the searing heat rays, turning into charred bits falling towards the ground.

And then the gunshot sounded again.

”Bang!!”

Seeing the Demon Creatures before her completely consumed by the flames, Tina finally set down her sniper rifle and let out a sigh of relief. Then she lifted her head and looked towards the darkness not far away.

”Brother Fang Zheng over there... He’s okay, right?”
