Chapter 472: Chapter 471 Another Savior?

While Fang Zheng and Nymph were happily dating in the virtual world, Mephist, aboard the Nebuchadnezzar in the real world, was listening to a report from another flying ship with a grave expression and his arms crossed.

”So, you mean someone saved them?”

Hearing this news, Mephist was somewhat astonished. In the real world, Zion’s headquarters had tens of flying ships, and it was aboard these ships that they hid in underground tunnels from the patrolling and searching mechanical squids, as well as for defense. Each flying ship operated independently as its own squad, and if needed, they would contact each other in this way.

However, for Mephist, the situation he encountered this time was somewhat different.

The crew that had been attacked by an agent previously belonged to another flying ship, and it had been Neo who detected something was amiss, leading Mephist and the others to provide support. But to their surprise, when they had arrived, they found that although the crew members had been knocked down, they hadn’t been killed. The anticipated fight with the computer agents hadn’t occurred at all; in fact, there was no sign of any computer agents around.

This left Mephist completely perplexed, with no clue as to what had happened. Yet, despite this, he still rescued the few who had been defeated and then had them leave the Motherbody through another exit, returning to the real world.

Just moments before, the captain of that flying ship had relayed to Mephist a message that had astonished him.

”Someone saved them? Are you sure, Captain Nairby?”

”Certainly, Mephist.”

The voice coming through the headset sounded somewhat indifferent.

”I’ve thoroughly questioned them. At first, they indeed couldn’t escape pursuit by the computer agent and were even beaten. But afterward, someone appeared who easily defeated the computer agent and even destroyed it!”

”What?”

Hearing this, Mephist was immensely shocked.

”That’s impossible!”

Mephist had good reason to be so agitated; after all, the Motherbody was just a virtual world, and computer agents were merely a segment of the program code. It was supposed to be impossible to kill a computer agent, as they could re-inhabit another human body and return at any moment.

In fact, within all of Zion, only Neo, the Savior, had a record of ”killing” a computer agent, which was also the reason he was regarded in a different light.

But now another person had appeared who could kill a computer agent?

”How could someone possess the same power as Neo? Who is it?”

”According to my subordinates, it was two individuals. One looked about the same age as your Savior, but was an Asian man. The other was a young girl with sky-blue hair, about thirteen or fourteen years old. By the way, it was the man who defeated the computer agent, but the girl who completely destroyed it.”

A duo?

Upon hearing this, Mephist felt even more perplexed. If such people existed, why had he never heard of them before?

”Commander Locke has already ordered a search for these two individuals. If their power is real, then they could certainly greatly enhance Zion’s ...”

”No!”

However, Nairby had yet to finish speaking when Mephist interrupted him with an angry shout, which took the other party by surprise.

”Mephist?”

”Nairby, this...”

Hearing the slightly bewildered voice on the other end, Mephist clearly didn’t know quite what to say. Just now, upon hearing Nairby’s words, he instinctively felt irritable and uneasy. Logically speaking, as a captain, he should support this decision. Any power that could combat the Motherbody and computer agents should naturally be brought to their side.

But after learning all this, Mephist had a sense of crisis. He had always been proud of Neo, who had defeated and destroyed a computer agent. This was also the firm proof for Mephist that Neo was indeed the Savior, but now... there appeared another person who could destroy a computer agent, how could this be possible?

Could there really be two Saviors?

”Mephist? What’s wrong?”

”Nairby... I disagree with this, don’t you think those two appeared too suddenly?”

As he spoke, Mephist also rapidly organized his thoughts.

”And do you really believe that the two of them managed to eliminate the computer agents?”

”...What exactly are you trying to say, Mephist?”

At this moment, Nairby’s voice had become impatient.

”Could my crew possibly lie to me?”

”No, that’s not what I mean, I suspect this might be a play directed by the computer agents!”

At this moment, Mephist too was quick-witted, hastily finding a reason.

”A play?”

”Exactly, I’ve read your crew’s report, don’t you find it too coincidental? Just when they were about to leave the Motherbody, the original exit was suddenly sealed off by some special means, making it impossible for them to leave, forcing them to turn to the subway station. Then the computer agents, as if they had been waiting there all along, knocked them down. But we all know the tactics of the computer agents, what kind of computer agent wouldn’t kill them after defeating them? Isn’t that strange? And then afterwards, those two appeared too abruptly... Don’t you think this looks like a well-orchestrated deceit? It’s as if it’s meant to make us aware of the existence of these two, and then to seek them out!”

The more he spoke, the more Mephist felt he had seen the truth, yes, it must be so! This was a trap set against them! And if they were indeed to send someone to look for these two people, whose existence was uncertain, they would likely fall into the computer agents’ trap and be wiped out all at once! freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

”This... you do make sense...”

Hearing what Mephist said, Nairby too seemed hesitant, but soon sighed.

”However, Mephist, it’s no use telling me all this. In fact, Commander Locke has already notified all the Flying Ship captains that we must find these two people and bring them back.”

”Damn it!”

Although Mephist was prepared in his heart, when he heard Nairby’s answer, he still slammed the table before him in frustration.

Despite Mephist’s firm belief in the Prophecy of the Savior, not everyone in Zion shared this faith. After Neo appeared, more and more people began to believe that the Savior from the rumors truly existed. However, aside from this, many still harbored doubts, and Commander Locke was among the skeptics. He never believed that the fate of humanity should rest on a single Savior. Regarding the previous occasions where Neo defeated the computer agents, Locke merely regarded these as some kind of special mutation.

Essentially, the conflict between Mephist and Locke revolved around the ”defeat of the computer agents”.

Through this event, Mephist proved that Neo was the Savior, which meant that his prophecy was correct and his life had not been in vain.

But Locke thought that ”defeating the computer agents” was merely a set of skills; if Neo could do it, maybe others could too! Only, all this time, he lacked sufficient evidence to prove it.

But now, with the sudden appearance of these two individuals, weren’t they exactly what Locke needed?

As long as it can be proven that Neo’s feat of defeating the computer agents wasn’t unique and could be replicated, then the Savior Aura around Neo’s head could be removed, and it would also prove that everything Mephist believed in was nothing more than delusion!

Damn it!

As he thought about this, Mephist clenched his fists tightly. He had not expected Locke to be so stubborn, couldn’t he see that this might be a trap laid by the Motherbody? No, he could not just sit back and wait!

”Trinity.”

Soon, Mephist made a decision.

”Tell Neo to get ready, we’re heading into the Motherbody!”
