Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 453: Chapter 452: Judgement Ceremony (IV)

”It’s starting, huh.”

Watching the image on the screen, Fang Zheng yawned and nonchalantly retrieved a can of Cola from the space.

”Nymph, how long do you think those people will last?”

”I actually hope they can hold out for a longer time.”

Holding a biscuit in her hand, Nymph answered in a low voice as she ate.

”This is the first real-time combat test of the variable wing system, and I want to collect more data. Unfortunately, it looks like there are no spellcasters among their enemies...”

”Don’t worry, if they are sending people to their deaths, they must be very confident in their subordinates. Their strength shouldn’t be bad, plus...didn’t you say the variable wing system itself is not perfect? If they encounter someone too powerful, it’s also going to be troublesome,” Fang Zheng said.

Nymph’s variable wing system wasn’t an ”original” from Synapsus. Limited by the materials and Little Angel’s own capabilities, what she created was equipment that mimicked the power of the variable wing system by imitation. Moreover, to ensure its power, Nymph even had to split the functions and package them separately...

Well, it’s like a game being sold in three separate parts: early, middle, and late. To Fang Zheng, this was also a basic operation.

According to Nymph, she divided the variable wing system into three sets: Zeus Shield, Dragon Cavalry, and Apollo. Aohara Enju was equipped with Zeus Shield, while Senju Natsuyo received Apollo, and Tina was the user of Dragon Cavalry. As for Midori...Nymph specially created a unique Hades system for her, as for how effective these equipments are...

”Please look forward to it, Master.”

Meanwhile, at the same time, Natsuse and Enju were advancing at high speed through the jungle. Although there were many obstacles along the way, for the two girls, these were no problem. Whether it was the fallen deadwood on the ground or the vines entangled around them, neither posed any threat to Natsuse and Enju.

”Over there!”

As they rounded a curve, they could already see a pure white stone bridge in the distance, and at the sight of this bridge, both of their eyes lit up. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm

”Natsuse!”

”I know!”

Hearing Enju’s shout, Natsuse nodded and then suddenly leaped into the air, murmuring to herself.

”Variable wing system—activate.”

”Whirrr—”

As Natsuse’s voice rose, lines began to appear along the edges of her black uniform. Then, almost immediately, a pair of golden wings materialized and unfolded behind her, resembling an angel’s, and one could even see numerous Light Feathers scattering from them, creating a spectacle...

Wow, is this earnest CGI and half-hearted gaming special effects?

”What’s this maneuver?”

Watching Natsuse flying in the sky, shedding feathers along the way, Fang Zheng was also taken aback. It was his first time seeing the variable wing system in action. Nymph had told him she wanted to keep it as a surprise, but...this CGI is too beautifully luxurious!

”It’s the repurposing of psionic power with Star Spirit Technology, mixed with Synapsus’s algorithms,” said Little Angel, looking very proud.

”Since Master said you wanted something really pretty and extravagant, I made it this way. The power source for the variable wing system comes from the psionic amount of these girls themselves. In theory, as long as they have sufficient psionic energy, they can keep it activated. But using the power of the variable wing system will greatly consume psionic energy, and may even lead to a loss of combat prowess for a certain period of time...”

”I see... But what’s with the feather shedding?”

Hearing Nymph’s explanation, Fang Zheng nodded, but he quickly raised another doubt deep in his heart. Although it did indeed look pretty every time Natsuse fluttered her wings and a few Light Feathers fell, but... what was the point?

”Of course!”

In response to Fang Zheng’s question, Little Angel nodded. Then, she extended her hand to switch to her own screen before pulling up a zoomed-in display.

”These Light Feathers are formed by the condensation of Psionic, and after detachment from the wings, they automatically decompose into Psionic particles the size of nanometers... Not only can these particles extend the user’s sensory range, but they also enhance the strength of the Psionic Soul Connection and possess a degree of magical interference. If one is within this range, there is a certain probability that their spellcasting will fail, and Magic Equipment may be rendered useless...”

”Uh...”

As he listened to Nymph’s explanation, Fang Zheng’s lips twitched. He then remembered that his own Little Angel was an extreme pragmatist who would not rest until she found some use for anything. Even something like a swimsuit—if it wasn’t for Fang Zheng stating his pleasure in seeing it, she would not be willing to wear one. The reason being that swimsuits neither made her invisible nor provided any armor...

And now... even shedding feathers had been put to optimal use by Nymph. In a CG animation, these things were just there to fool the eyes of players, but in Nymph’s hands, they had all sorts of buffs and debuffs, along with their own enhancements for expansion and magical interference.

Thus, it’s truly unwise to provoke a pragmatism compulsive, seriously...

With the influence of the Wings of Light, the speed of Natsuse and Nobiru had increased by several folds. Their figures sped forward at a velocity almost too fast to see. So much so that many could only perceive a streak of light flashing from the dark shadows of the forest. In just a few short minutes, they had already crossed the small path through the forest and arrived at the stone bridge in the center.

”Splash!”

Almost simultaneously, at a not-too-distant point ahead of Natsuse and Nobiru, three figures emerged, and they exchanged a look, each side taken aback.

”I really didn’t expect to meet you here, Miss.”

Alfred raised his longsword and greeted Nobiru, who in turn cheerily waved her hand in response.

”Hey, isn’t that Uncle? I had no idea you were participating in this contest as well.”

”Yes... and it looks like our luck is quite good...”

As Alfred spoke, the Red Armored Swordsman and the Half-Elf Ranger positioned themselves to the left and right, surrounding Natsuse and Nobiru. They were two against three—by any count, the numbers were in their favor.

”Sorry, young lady, it may look a bit like bullying, but... this is a competition.”

”Don’t worry, Uncle, I’ll go easy on you.”

Hearing Alfred’s words, Aohara Nobiru smiled and replied, then she widened her eyes, staring intently at the Alfred in front of her.

The next moment, Nobiru’s eyes instantly turned red, and just like that, her figure vanished from its spot.

”This way!”

The instant Nobiru vanished, Alfred’s expression also changed slightly. Suddenly, he raised his longsword and struck forcefully in front of him. Sparks flew, followed by the clang of a collision as the twin-tailed girl’s figure appeared out of thin air in front of Alfred, her right foot kicking out to meet the blade of his sword.

”Ha!!”

Both sides immediately changed their attack strategies after the initial strike missed its mark. Alfred let out a low shout, and his longsword once again produced countless blades of light, slicing toward Nobiru. Nobiru, in turn, kept twisting her body, repeatedly kicking away Alfred’s attacks, then she too let out a fierce roar. Her right foot suddenly burst forth with a dazzling red, and then Nobiru stomped down hard on the ground beneath her!

”Boom!!”

As Nobiru launched her attack, Alfred, realizing the danger, quickly retreated with his sword. Then he saw a brilliant red Psionic Amount erupt from Nobiru’s right foot, striking the ground and instantly blasting a large hole in what had been flat terrain, as dust flew into the air. But before the scattered fog could fully dissipate, it was as if it had been torn apart by a violent storm from the middle.

And Nobiru, in that moment, burst forth like raging thunder from the midst, charging again towards Alfred!
