Chapter 452: Chapter 451: Judgement Ceremony (III)

```
Although there was no host, as with all competitions before the start, the images of the contestants would appear before the crowd. For the Kingdom of Flame and the Land of Wealth, there was no need for a formal introduction; in fact, nearly everyone present could recognize the competitors from the Kingdom of Flame.
After all, they were renowned geniuses.
Alfred naturally goes without saying, and those beside him were no ordinary individuals. The half-elf wearing leather armor and a green cloak was named Nosk Chenxing, a particularly outstanding ranger.
Standing on the other side of Alfred, the burly man clad in red armor with brown short hair was Case Vincent. He was a fierce warrior of General John’s Seventh Fleet and also a Wild Hunt Sorcerer.
Behind the trio stood a man dressed like a mercenary, his body wrapped in bandages and a cloak, revealing only his eyes and two scimitars, which made him look suspicious. He was an assassin hired by the Land of Wealth known as ”Blood Blade,” whose true name was unknown. As a superb assassin who operates on monetary incentives, his name was irrelevant to him.
As for the last one...he was not human at all, possessing a burly physique and a wolf-like head. In fact, his appearance alone betrayed his identity.
This was a werewolf.
”Those Caron guys really recruit all sorts of people.”
Seeing the image of the werewolf on the screen, Bishop Carl couldn’t help but let out a cold snort. Vampires and werewolves were mortal enemies, and although he now worked for the Sanctuary, it didn’t mean Carl couldn’t be prejudiced against werewolves. Not to mention, the New Moon insignia on the werewolf’s chest was enough to reveal his identity.
He was the alpha of the New Moon Wolf Clan.
It was rare for humans to be openly associated with werewolves, but Bishop Carl had to admit that the Land of Wealth had made a smart move. Werewolves were tough-skinned and resilient, not only threatening but also swift and ruthless. As warriors, there was no better choice than them.
Not to mention that this one was the alpha of the New Moon Wolf Clan; even Carl himself would have to be fully alert to prevent an accident during a clash with this fellow.
Compared to this...
”Your Excellency Fang Zheng’s side seems to lack a bit of momentum...”
Looking at the other side of the screen, Bishop Carl shook his head with a wry smile.
If the Kingdom of Flame and the Land of Wealth were a scene of spirited enthusiasm, Fang Zheng’s side...no matter how you looked at it, seemed like elementary school students on an outing. Five pretty, cute little girls were chirping merrily on the stone platform, gesticulating and talking about something. They didn’t seem like they were going to the battlefield; they looked more like they were heading out for a spring outing...
But who exactly were these girls?
Thinking this, Bishop Carl grew curious and scrutinized them. The rumored twin-tailed girl was among them, chatting with great excitement. Aside from her, Carl also spotted a short-haired blonde girl who seemed to be the leader of the group, at least she appeared very calm and composed, far less eccentric than the others.
Apart from these two, Carl saw a gold-haired girl with half-closed eyes, carrying a strange large iron box. Unlike the others, she looked drowsy as if she still hadn’t woken up. Not far from her, a girl wearing a hat akin to that of a witch was talking to the twin-tailed girl, and behind her skirt...it seemed like there was a tail swinging back and forth?
Aside from these four, the last girl in this team looked two or three years older, but her attire was no less peculiar. She wore a cloak with a black base and white polka dots, complete with a pair of long, triangular ears, and held a trident spear, standing motionlessly there. The contrast of her silver-white hair and bright red eyes was quite striking—if she didn’t occasionally blink, one might even mistake her for a statue.
But no matter how you looked at them, these kids didn’t seem particularly formidable...
Seeing this, Bishop Carl shook his head. Although he believed Fang Zheng wasn’t acting without purpose, these children...to be honest, did not inspire any confidence in Carl at all.
”Dang... Dang...”
Just then, the bell sounded once more, and simultaneously, the thorny walls that had sealed off the entire stone platform slowly descended, revealing the paths hidden deep within the forest.
```

”Upon Brother Fang Zheng’s command, let’s move out,”

As Natsuse spoke, she glanced back at her companions, who nodded in response. Quickly, the girls separated and vanished into the shadows of the forest.

Meanwhile...

”Alright, the game has begun.”

The Half-Elf Ranger played with the dagger in hand and looked amusedly at Alfred beside her.

”So Captain, what are your orders?”

”There are two paths, so we’ll split up and proceed.”

Alfred had become much more serious at this point, hand on the hilt of his sword, as he issued the command.

”Half-Elf, you’ll take the left path with Vincent and me. The rest will take the right one. No issues, right?”

Alfred’s team division was quite astute since the three of them hailed from the Kingdom of Flame while the remaining two were from the Land of Wealth. It was a straightforward and brutal way to divide the team, but there wasn’t a better option at the moment.

”And...”

Alfred paused there, making sure everyone was listening before he continued.

”It might seem like overkill, but I want you all to not be misled by their appearances when facing the enemy. If possible, please treat them as equals in battle.”

”Hey, hey, are you serious, boss?”

The Half-Elf Ranger showed a look of astonishment.

”They’re just a bunch of kids who haven’t even grown out their fur yet, is that really necessary?”

While the others didn’t speak up, they did seem to agree with the Half-Elf Ranger’s objection. All of them had reached the Master Realm, making them second only to the Legendary ones; they were renowned as formidable opponents in their own right. Tasking them with taking on a group of children so seriously did seem almost like a joke.

”I’m serious.”

Alfred’s expression was not one of amusement but grew even more solemn and earnest.

”Let me tell you, those children are not to be underestimated. I’m certain their strength is not below ours. If you want to embarrass yourselves, go ahead and try. But... decide for yourselves whether it’s more embarrassing to take those children seriously or to be defeated by them.”

Having said his piece, Alfred no longer lingered and turned to walk down the left path, with the Red Armored Warrior silently following.

”Honestly, it was just a joke...”

Watching as their comrades had already departed, the reluctant Half-Elf Ranger muttered to herself and then turned to leave. The Werewolves and Blood Blade had already disappeared without a trace at this point.

Thus, a battle in the depths of the dense forest began.
