Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 457: Chapter 456: Judgement Ceremony (VIII)

How could this be?

General John sat in his chair, staring at the screen in front of him with an iron-green expression on his face. Those around him were also trembling, not daring to breathe a word, or even make a sound. Meanwhile, the representatives of other forces in the distance were also showing a look of surprise, whispering to each other from time to time.

No wonder everyone reacted this way, the match had completely exceeded their expectations!

In just ten minutes, the three from the Kingdom of Flame had been cleanly and decisively eliminated!

Everyone present was of noble status, many of whom were highly powerful, so most could immediately see that the main reason for the failure of the people from the Kingdom of Flame was that the equipment and combat skills used by those three young girls were unlike any they had seen from any other race.

Especially during the battle involving the Half-Elf Ranger, the onlookers had held their breath. While the average person might have seen only an unlucky child being beaten and running wildly through the forest, those present were not so superficial. Most of them, like the Half-Elf Ranger, had figured out Tina’s weapon’s principles, which is why they felt even more astonished!

A mini, portable Magitech Cannon with a range even longer than a Magitech Cannon’s, and although its power was smaller compared to a Magitech Cannon, it was clearly a very good choice for dealing with a single target!

”You see, Mary, I told you, this is truly a perfect crystallization of wisdom.”

While holding a crystal and recording the combat scene in front of him, Douglas remarked emotionally.

”I must take this fight back to show to those old men, let them know there’s always someone better out there, and wonder why we’ve never considered this aspect before for single-use portable Magitech Cannons. Isn’t it a good research direction?”

”The energy system they are using seems to be completely different from ours, sir.”

Hearing Douglas’s emotional words, Mary next to him also slightly smiled and furrowed her brows, reminding him in a low voice, but Douglas simply shrugged it off with indifference.

”What’s so strange about that, Mary? With so many dimensions in the Cosmos, there are bound to be many brilliant ideas. We are not the only ones in this world. Dark Region, Abyss, Star Realm, Outer Realm... each dimension has its own unique landscapes, so as magicians, we must not just stay in the room facing the walls and chuckling idiotically. Walk around more, and you’ll find that this world is bigger than what you have seen in the books... Uh, if I’m not mistaken, this should be an artifact from a civilization of some Outer Realm... Really interesting.”

”Do you mean... you also believe what the Sanctuary said, that they are from the place where the Deity resides?”

”Who knows? For magicians, it doesn’t really matter, does it? If the place where the Deity resides has the knowledge and power we’ve longed for, why not acknowledge it?”

Facing Mary’s inquiry, Douglas chuckled.

”Plus, those kids’ power is truly interesting.”

Douglas was clearly not the only one holding this view.

”Is that the power of the Chosen One?”

Staring at the screen in front of him, Astor spoke in a low voice, while Bishop Carl remained silent. Unlike Douglas who focused on Tina’s weapon, these two paid more attention to the power displayed by Natsuse in the battle.

To be fair, the Red Armored Warrior was indeed a tough opponent, being a Wild Hunt Sorcerer, he not only had the power to manipulate flames but also could control the Flame Dragon he conjured to attack enemies. Normally, opponents would have been overwhelmed by him long ago.

But Natsuse was different; the girl simply floated in the air, deployed a strange blue barrier, and easily blocked the Red Armored Warrior’s attacks, whether they were flames or melee, none could get even a centimeter close to the girl.

Of course, the blue barrier was not always there. According to Astor’s judgment, the duration of this barrier was only two or three seconds; once it expired, the girl would be completely exposed in front of the Red Armored Warrior.

Nevertheless... this was still meaningless.

Because the girl could... disappear!

Indeed, as an experienced warrior, if Grand Knight Astor could perceive it, the Red Armored Warrior had no reason not to notice. So after the initial probing, he too learned to deliberately force the opponent to deploy the barrier, then launch a deadly move when it expired.

In fact, this tactic initially did have an effect, because after the strange blue barrier protection was lost, the girl directly disappeared in the flames erupted by the Red Armored Warrior. When this scene was witnessed, it had shocked both Bishop Carl and Grand Knight Astor, thinking the girl had been directly eliminated from the competition.

But soon, they were astonished to find that the girl suddenly appeared behind the Red Armored Warrior and then struck with lightning, nearly knocking the Red Armored Warrior off his feet.

This was indeed a shocking event!

Invisibility was not unfamiliar to the people of the Main World, as both Mages and certain magical races possessed the ability to become invisible. However, invisibility simply erased one’s body from others’ sight; it would still fail if one was affected by certain area spells or attacks.

But the kind of invisibility exhibited by the girl was as if she had truly disappeared from this world!

What Skill was this?

Grand Knight Astor and Bishop Carl certainly did not think it was some kind of Teleportation Skill, because they saw very clearly that each time the girl disappeared, she only reappeared and attacked when the Red Armored Warrior was not paying attention. If it were Teleportation, it simply couldn’t achieve this level. Thus, the only explanation was that the girl could somehow, through some miraculous means, make herself completely disappear from this world, so much so that even attacks constructed on elemental layers could not affect her.

The only fortunate thing was that this skill seemed to have a limit. Given that the girl had to reveal herself every time she attacked, she had to disable this mode to attack, which was somewhat relieving. Otherwise, people would probably have bad dreams even at night...

This skill was simply the ideal way for an Assassin to attack.

If it had been Douglas, perhaps he would have thought about this issue from the angle of Magic, but for Bishop Carl and Grand Knight Astor, they didn’t need to think that much.

Because this had to be the power of a Deity!

Only a Deity could possess such a powerful, unimaginable force! So it was normal for them not to understand, after all, these children were the Chosen Ones!

”I’ve decided, Grand Knight Astor.”

Watching the screen where three warriors from the Kingdom of Flame were eliminated in turn, Bishop Carl was silent for a moment, then as if making a resolution, clenched his fist tightly.

”You mean...”

Hearing Bishop Carl’s unfinished sentence, Grand Knight Astor was initially stunned, then his expression immediately changed slightly.

”...do you mean that matter? Is it really okay? That’s the current secret of the Sanctuary! And once Your Excellency Fang Zheng commits to this matter, then you and...”

”The Holy City has agreed to support us.”

Bishop Carl gave a slight smile.

”Moreover, this matter is not entirely unrelated to Your Excellency Fang Zheng, strictly speaking, he is also an informant. I have been hesitant before. But now it seems, there is no need anymore. Some people in the Holy City have been lost for too long, too long. To wake them up, mere words are no longer effective. We must...”

At this point, the Vampire Old Archbishop clenched his fist tightly and swung it downward.

”...we must shake them awake, let them fully realize what our duty is, what we, the children of order, should do! Power, honor, are trivial compared to the survival of order! Since they cling to power, immersed in the glory of the past and unwilling to awake, then don’t blame me for being impolite!”

Hearing Bishop Carl’s response, Grand Knight Astor was silent for a moment, then looked solemnly at the elderly man before him.

”Will Your Excellency Fang Zheng agree?”

”I believe, he should agree.”

As he spoke, Bishop Carl once again turned his gaze to the screen before him.

”Because, this is the reason he agreed to proceed with the Judgement Ceremony.”
