Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 455: Chapter 454: Judgement Ceremony (VI)

Just my luck!

Transformed into a black panther, the Half-Elf Ranger dashed through the forest, cursing inwardly. Flames nearly surrounded him completely, but the Half-Elf Ranger dared not relax. He glanced left and right, then with a grit of his teeth, he leaped forward, darting through the raging flames before him and rolling to extinguish the flames on his body. Just then, another explosion sounded and the spot where the Half-Elf Ranger had just stood was blasted into a pit.

This is deadly!

After several probing attempts, the Half-Elf Ranger had come to understand his opponent. The enemy had three different types of ”ammo,” the first of which had a powerful explosion range and impact, nearly as much as the Magitech Cannons on city fortress walls, in the Half-Elf Ranger’s view.

The second type seemed to focus more on penetration, capable of piercing through even the hardest rock mountains with ease. Being hit by this type of ammo might not blast him to pieces, but... the Half-Elf Ranger didn’t think having a hole in his body would be a pleasant experience.

As for the third type, it was directly explosive and ignited fierce flames. This was what troubled the Half-Elf Ranger the most. The enemy, seemingly not at all flustered by the ranger’s ambush, could feel his opponent shifting directions while launching attacks at him.

Using flame-bursting ammunition to limit his movement range, if he hid, the piercing ammo would force him out; and once he diverted his attention, there would be a bursting shell coming to discuss life and ideals with him... Now the Half-Elf Ranger felt as if he were trapped in a cage full of traps, caught between a rock and a hard place, with no good options at all!

Now his transformed panther body was already scorched in several places, but the Half-Elf Ranger didn’t even have a moment to dodge and catch his breath. The terrain here was relatively flat, with no undulating mountains, and the dense forest did nothing to block the enemy’s targeting, while the hard rocks were completely ineffective.

This forced the Half-Elf Ranger to keep running forward; now he had only one goal, to close the distance with the enemy and then... engage in close combat!

As a ranger, the Half-Elf not only possessed superb archery skills but was also proficient in close combat. In his opinion, he had absolutely no chance against the opponent in ranged attacks, but based on the Half-Elf’s experience, generally, opponents specialized in long-range attacks would have weaknesses in close combat. If he could get close to his opponent, there would still be a chance to fight!

At least... at least it was better than just getting hit without being able to fight back!

Meanwhile, the spectators around, who had been watching, were utterly stunned by the scenes unfolding before them.

To prevent cheating, the ”broadcast” outside the arena would only show ongoing battles, naturally excluding any that hadn’t started yet. Therefore, what everyone currently saw were only Aohara Nobiru against Alfred, Senju Natsuyo against the Red Armored Warrior, and the beaten and scampering Half-Elf Ranger.

But even so, they were enough to make the spectators’ eyes pop out.

Initially, including Ogrande and Bishop Carl among others, everyone thought that Fang Zheng’s children would likely be at a disadvantage because they saw these children as undoubtedly talented and strong but lacking in battle experience. This was normal, since on the continent of the Main World, geniuses of their age would generally be treasured by their families or forces, protected carefully for fear of any mishap. They might receive the best education and training, but they would also be very safe.

This was to avoid accidents or preemptive strikes by rival families aiming to root out potential problems.

So to those observers, the combat capabilities of these children weren’t expected to be high.

But when the battle actually began, the performance of these children surprised everyone!

When facing the enemy, they transformed from naive, romantic children into experienced warriors. Whether it was Natsuyo, Nobiru, or Tina, they all demonstrated extraordinarily seasoned combat experience and skills. They behaved not like recruits who had just faced battle but like battle-hardened veterans!

How could this be?

The observers were utterly perplexed: how could these children possess such rich combat experience? Even seasoned fighters like Alfred were unable to gain the upper hand against them.

They certainly did not know that although Natsuyo and the others were young, they had not been strangers to combat; they had spent much of their time fighting Intestinal Creatures in the Pitch Black World. Although Fang Zheng had freed the Cursed Children, to protect those still in the Pitch Black World, Natsuyo and the others would occasionally return to that world to eliminate any Intestinal Creatures posing threats to their settlements.

Among these Intestinal Creatures, many possessed quite unique abilities and strong power. During these battles, the Cursed Children naturally accumulated substantial combat experience. So from this aspect, they were not lacking in experience.

If there was no gap in combat experience, the next thing would be a contest of strength and combat skills.

Unfortunately for them... in this regard, Alfred and the others did not have the advantage...

”Clang!!”

The flash of the sword passed, and Nobiru kicked back with her foot, causing both parties to stagger and then retreat from each other.

”Hah... hah... Not bad, old man, you’re quite formidable...”

While gasping for breath, Nobiru smiled cheerfully at Alfred, whose head was covered in sweat and who could no longer even muster a smile.

”You too... I really didn’t expect...”

At this point, Alfred gripped his longsword tightly, and for a moment, he didn’t even know what to say. He had never imagined that he would actually be fighting to a standstill against a girl not even ten years old.

If he had underestimated Aohara Nobiru in their first encounter and had been at a disadvantage, this time, he had been fully alert but still unable to defeat her, which spoke volumes indeed.

This child really was a monster...

”Since that’s the case, let’s call it quits here. Natsuse already mentioned that we should end the battle quickly, so...”

At this point, Nobiru paused for a moment and looked at Alfred with a mischievous grin.

”Old man, I’m taking off first, see you!”

After saying these words, Nobiru suddenly stamped her foot, and then — she turned and ran!

Hah? What kind of move is this?

Seeing Nobiru turn and leave, Alfred was momentarily stunned, but his reaction was quick; he swung his sword at her in haste. However, what surprised Alfred was that just as his sword flashed, a petite figure suddenly appeared before him, her back adorned with wings that shimmered with a golden radiance, and her face was utterly expressionless...

How could this be? Wasn’t this child engaged in battle with Vincent? How could she be here?

But before Alfred could think further, he saw Natsuse raise her right hand forward. Soon, a transparent blue barrier swiftly materialized, blocking Alfred’s sword light. But just at that moment, suddenly, a voice came from behind Alfred.

”Get out of the way!!”

”Vincent?!”

Hearing this voice, Alfred also quickly turned his head to see the Red Armored Warrior with a grave expression; he too hurriedly tried to dodge to the side.

But in the next moment, to Alfred’s astonishment, as he and the Red Armored Warrior planned to dodge to either side, Natsuse suddenly clenched her fists. Accompanying her action, golden luminous photons that had been nonexistent in the air suddenly manifested into chains, binding the two tightly in place.

Then, Natsuse raised her right hand high, her Wings of Light behind her flared dramatically, and a massive, golden circular array appeared above Natsuse’s head, its dazzling radiance consolidating into a terrifying power. However, at this time, Alfred and the Red Armored Warrior had no strength left to break their binds.

”Apollo System activated......... fire.”

After this command, Natsuse gently swung her right hand downward.

Soon after, a roaring beam of brilliant light completely engulfed her enemies in front of her.
