Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 388: Chapter 347: Boundary Breakthrough

[You hear Homiga’s father say that when he first became an actor, he was taunted by many while filming. Although his daughter often reassured him, she didn’t really support him to continue. However, he didn’t get discouraged and bravely pursued his dream, now he’s appeared in several famous movies and has become a quite outstanding actor.]

[You look at him with admiration, envious of Homiga’s father’s ability to achieve his dream.]

The scene shifts.

An old man and a musician arrive at a dimly lit warehouse, the former rummages through piles of goods, finally finding a guitar bag.

[You receive Homiga’s discarded old guitar from Homiga’s father. He expressed his support for your dream and told you that when it’s time to set off, you should, to broaden your horizons, the outside world is vast.]

The musician excitedly holds the old guitar, repeatedly nodding at Homiga’s father; nothing is more thrilling than getting something from your idol.

He wishes he could perform a song this instant.

Unfortunately, the old guitar hasn’t been maintained for a long time, and its strings are rusted beyond use, making it impossible to play.]

[You express gratitude to Homiga’s father, bow, then leave with the old guitar and Jigglypuff.]

Baimu, watching this, wonders whether the musician has any musical theory background at all? The simulation has been going for quite a while now, but he hasn’t seen the musician perform yet.

Not even hummed a tune.

Could everything be starting from scratch?

His gaze follows the musician sprinting along the street, Jigglypuff bouncing like a ball, keeping up with him. He wonders if the development period will be too long? Would a year be enough to satisfy the ambition like a renowned chef’s need?

While Baimu is in doubt.

The musician suddenly dashes into a luxurious house and pushes open a room door.

In an instant.

An array of dazzling instruments immediately enters Baimu’s view.

From classical music’s harp, violin, grand piano, to pop music’s electronic keyboard, electric guitar, and drum set, it has everything; the walls are adorned with bassoons, trumpets, a tuba and cello sit in the corner, and there’s even a triangle!

”Wow!”

He looks at the scene with shock; if it weren’t for the fact that the musician is in private space, he’d highly suspect the musician’s house is a music store.

The next moment.

Baimu stands up directly from the sofa, drawing curious stares from the surrounding Pokémon.

But he doesn’t mind and just keeps his eyes fixed on the screen where the musician carefully places Homiga’s guitar on the ground then runs to play the piano madly.

The simulator is soundless.

Having watched a mute spectacle for so long, Baimu had already assumed this.

But at this very moment.

A melodious piano tune plays in his ears, and as Jigglypuff jumps onto a high podium, singing deeply into a microphone, a beautiful song carries out.

[You can’t suppress your emotions and start playing madly, just wanting to use music to express your feelings at this moment.]

”Is someone playing music?”

Baimu asks the Pokémon around him.

From their puzzled, then gradual shaking heads, it appears the piano tune is coming from the simulator—

The sound card activated!

This guy finally upgraded the system, bringing him new functions!

While he’d love to tell himself this, Baimu is very aware it’s not so, the simulator is merely transmitting the musician’s piano tune and Jigglypuff’s song to his ears.

And on the screen, countless notes and music sheets materialize, leaping from the piano, swirling around the musician and Jigglypuff.

A player of classical music... admiring one who plays pop rock music?

Baimu’s expression is somewhat odd, soon realizing the musician doesn’t just play one instrument; having finished the piano, he quickly moves to the harp, then to the violin and cello.

After trying almost every instrument in the room, the musician lies on the ground, panting heavily, Jigglypuff also gasping for air, its stretchy body going from big to small to big to small.

”This guy... a musical prodigy, with perfect pitch perhaps?”

Baimu can’t help but mutter.

Having dealt with it for so long, yet another guy with latent talent like the chef.

But his appreciation skill is inadequate, he can’t tell if the nice tunes were original compositions by the musician, nor can he ascertain whether the musician is skilled but not specialized in any, or if he’s proficient in all.

He watches as the musician skillfully restores Homiga’s old guitar, transforming it from its old-fashioned look to a refreshed state, feeling that the latter is more likely—

Perhaps in a previous life such a being wouldn’t exist, but in the Pokémon World anything is possible.

[Looking at the refurbished guitar before you, you are resolved to go on a journey, you want to climb to the highest platform of Unova Trainers, ”Huiyuan Conference,” and play songs there, realizing your musical dream.]

[Choosing this old guitar among all the instruments, for you know your story truly begins from this moment.]

Hmm?

Realize a musical dream at the League Conference? How to do that?

Baimu doesn’t understand, a bit lost on whether the musician wants to enter Huiyuan Conference, or is going to play the opening and closing songs for Huiyuan Conference.

Could he be planning to play guitar while commanding Pokémon attacks?

That wouldn’t be meaningful, the scene’s too noisy for him to play guitar and produce Explosive Sound Wave for the audience to hear his performance?

It could only be like Shangzhi.

Baimu remembers in the Jewel Drill animation, there was a Pokémon Minstrel, who was a fierce rival to Ash Ketchum and Xiaoguang, simultaneously participating in the League Conference and Gorgeous Competition, wielding a harp and leading many Pokémon across the world.

Unfortunately, in the end, he only reached the round of 64 because he lost to Ash Ketchum who was in superb condition for that tournament, Jewel Drill was the last time Ash Ketchum called back his old teammates for a tournament, Shangzhi didn’t actually lose unjustly.

He watches the musician carrying a guitar bag and backpack, taking Jigglypuff along.

Connecting it to the prototype nation of Unova, he wonders if this guy is about to pioneer the country music genre in pop music, speaking of which, does the Pokémon World have country music...

Baimu was just about to search for it when his hand froze.

If the music the musician is pioneering is indeed country music, then if he searches now, he would definitely find it.

Never mind.

Better to continue watching the simulation.

On the screen.

The musician and Jigglypuff leave Liyong City and arrive at Route 20.

[You decide to set your first goal in Aspertia City at the far east, to get your first badge there.]

Baimu doesn’t recall incorrectly, the Aspertia Gym Leader is the fierce rival of the protagonists in the Black and White version—Cheren, also appearing in the animation, he emerges as already a teacher and Gym Leader at Aspertia City Academy.

Their battling ability should be quite strong.

While pondering, music and singing are again transmitted from the simulator.

He watches as the musician holds the guitar and Jigglypuff sings while playing, moving joyfully through a forest trail, as if on a picnic.

[You come to a serene forest, the beautiful scene of sunlight filtering through the leaves onto the ground inspires you, immediately playing the guitar, the joyful and pleasant song quickly attracts many wild Pokémon to watch.]

[You don’t feel flustered and even wave friendly at them, continuing singing.]

From Baimu’s perspective, indeed the musician and Jigglypuff sing nicely; though he can’t distinguish the melody, he can sense the joy from the song.

Even though he’s separated by a screen, he feels so, let alone the wild Pokémon experiencing it in person.

Almost all the wild Pokémon smile happily upon hearing the song, and many wild Pokémon attempt to make their own sounds, seemingly trying to harmonize.

The musician sees this and stops directly, sitting on a big rock continuing to sing.

Unfortunately.

There are also those who don’t like the sound of the song.

When the wild Pokémon are either attentively watching or participating, a furious Scolipede charges out, driving away other wild Pokémon.

But the musician and Jigglypuff remain calm, maintaining their rhythm, countless notes leap forth encircling Scolipede.

Turning around.

Scolipede surprisingly falls asleep on the ground.

”Really using singing to battle, giligili love?” Baimu sees this, can’t help but gripe.
