Naruto: Becoming the Soul King

”Obito, you might not know, but besides humans, there are actually other unknown things in this world that ordinary people can’t see...”

Seiryū’s expression turned somewhat serious, his voice wavering and mysterious. ”What do you think... people become after death? And where do they go?”

Gulp!

Seiryū’s cryptic words made Obito swallow hard, and he stammered, ”W-what... what do they become? Where do they go?”

What do people become after death?

Where do they go?

He had never thought about such things before!

”After death, people become spirits, or souls, and the destination of souls is the Pure Land of the Underworld...”

Seiryū’s voice remained full of mystery, and his expression grew even more serious. ”But... some souls, due to lingering obsessions, are unwilling to return to the Pure Land of the Underworld and are forced to remain in the human world...”

”These souls have a very distinct characteristic. They always stay in the same place. These are bound spirits, ghosts. That place is their obsession, the place that traps them, preventing them from leaving, so they repeat the same actions every day...”

”Normal people can’t see souls, but some people are born with Yin-Yang Eyes and can see what others can’t...”

”You are from the Uchiha Clan, and the Sharingan might be a type of Yin-Yang Eye. This means that the old grandmothers and grandfathers you encountered are very likely... souls of the deceased forced to remain in the human world.”

”In other words, ghosts. In fact, they have already...”

Seiryū spouted a bunch of nonsense and finally stopped halfway through, looking full of mystery.

Well, there wasn’t any deeper meaning.

Seiryū just wanted to tease Obito.

And indeed, Obito’s expression at this moment was quite amusing... After hearing this, his whole body trembled, his eyes widened, and his tone was filled with terror. ”Y-you mean, the old grandmother and grandfather I met might have already... already d-died!?”

The old grandfather and grandmother he had helped might have already died and were merely souls wandering the human world?

Just the thought of this possibility...

Obito’s heart inexplicably trembled... Meanwhile, Kurenai, who had just been deeply affected by ghost stories the night before, had already turned pale and instinctively grabbed Seiryū’s hand. ”T-this... this can’t be true, right?”

She had already been frightened enough yesterday, and now Seiryū had added new ”lore.”

And it sounded even more real... ”Seiryū, are you telling the truth?”

Rin was also a young girl and not particularly brave. The thought of deceased people still wandering in Konoha, unseen and untouchable, yet truly existing... gave her a strange chill...

”Of course!” Seiryū nodded, his tone serious. ”People turn into souls after death, and the destination of souls is the Pure Land of the Underworld. All of this is true...”

As soon as these words came out.

Obito, Kurenai, and Rin all trembled, fear appearing in their eyes as their heartbeats inexplicably sped up... Especially Obito, who had already begun to doubt life, nearly bursting into tears out of fear...

”Idiot, how can you even believe that?”

At that moment, a disdainful voice rang out.

Kakashi walked over, rolling his eyes.

He had also heard what Seiryū said just now.

But he didn’t believe it at all.

Only an idiot would believe it!

Kakashi sat down in his seat, shook his head, and sighed. ”Can’t you tell that Seiryū is just fooling you?”

He had actually investigated the old grandfather and grandmother Obito helped, just out of curiosity.

They were residents of Konoha, alive and well. How could they be souls or ghosts?

He couldn’t believe they had fallen for such a trick... Seiryū glanced sideways at Kakashi and pouted. ”Hmph, why are you butting in? I was having so much fun fooling them.”

It was like performing a magic trick, just as he was about to enjoy the audience’s amazement, someone suddenly came in and revealed the secret. A real mood killer.

Kakashi’s mouth twitched.

Obito is already foolish, and you keep teasing him!

Is that fun?

”You bastard, Seiryū, you, you, you... I challenge you to a duel!!”

Obito was practically fuming, his face flushed red.

This Seiryū guy had actually been fooling him, and he had actually believed it.

Wasn’t that treating him like an idiot?

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. The angrier he got, the more he couldn’t stand it. He wanted to duel Seiryū!!

”Hmm...”

Rin looked at Seiryū, a hint of resentment in her eyes. She had actually believed him for a moment, and now felt a little embarrassed by her own reaction.

Seiryū was really too naughty. Kurenai was absolutely right...

”Ahhh, hateful Seiryū, you scared me again.

Kurenai completely lost it. She was already angry because of last night’s ghost stories.

Now Seiryū was scaring her again.

She couldn’t take it anymore!

She opened her small mouth, revealing her tiny fangs, and lunged toward Seiryū to bite him...

”...”

After the commotion.

Kurenai finally calmed down when Oda arrived in the classroom.

However, she was still huffing and puffing, glaring at Seiryū from time to time, her little fangs glinting coldly!

Seiryū figured she wouldn’t get over it for several days.

He was speechless too. He had only fooled and scared them twice.

Was it really necessary?

Also, if you even believe those obviously fake words, you still lack a ninja’s judgment!

They just couldn’t appreciate his painstaking efforts!

”Hello, class, the holiday...”

Oda began his opening remarks. This was the third time Seiryū had heard them. Compared to the last time, only the order had changed a little. It felt a bit perfunctory...

”Today, there will be a transfer student in the class. Classmates, please welcome the new student.”

Saying that, Oda called toward the door, ”Come in, Shizune.”

A cute young girl wearing a black ninja uniform with short black hair walked in.

It was none other than Shizune.

The young girl Shizune was a bit shy and introverted. Her self-introduction was soft and timid, and also a little clumsy. ”H-hello everyone, my name is Shizune. From today on, we will be classmates. Please take care of me!”

Clap, clap, clap...

Amidst enthusiastic applause, Oda had Shizune find a seat.

It wasn’t far from Seiryū, just at the desk next to Kurenai. Seiryū was a bit surprised that Shizune had transferred into Class 1-B and muttered to himself, ’Could it be that my little butterfly wings are flapping again?’

Was this something that happened in the original work?

But thinking about it carefully, in the original series, Shizune and Kurenai did seem to know each other. They had even drunk together and complained about Tsunade... They must have known each other since childhood.

Moreover, in a certain movie, Shizune had appeared on screen with Guy and Asuma.

Hmm, that was right when Ichiraku Ramen had opened... Speaking of which, why hasn’t Ichiraku Ramen opened yet?
