Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 400: 400 invitation

Jiang Shijing’s words just came out, and Jiang Feifei laughed. Her brother was really adorable and reacted so quickly.

Qian Jun also laughed. This kid was really interesting.

Yao Shimin’s attention was all on Jiang Feifei now. This little girl looked truly beautiful when she smiled.

Shang Zhenkun also wore a smile on his face, watching Shijing pull his sister over.

”You two don’t stand on ceremony, have some watermelon to quench your thirst first.”

Shijing rescued his sister, then happily picked up a knife to further slice the already cut watermelon, offering the middle part to his sister while he ate the edges.

Qian Jun and Yao Shimin watched this boy’s actions, both too fond of the child.

”Uncles, you should have some too. It’s really sweet. But don’t eat too much, I just saw Mom in the kitchen making spicy boiled pork slices and Haidilao. You should save room.”

Both men nodded, smiling, each taking a piece of watermelon.

”It’s indeed quite sweet. Feifei, Uncle will also give you the middle part, it’s sweeter here.”

”Thank you, Uncle Yao. I’ve had enough with these.”

After eating the watermelon, Shijing and Feifei both put the rinds into the trash bin in the yard, then Shijing fetched a cloth to clean the table.

”Now I’m sure Shijing is Director Jiang’s son. Just by his love for cleanliness, you can tell.”

At this moment, the aroma from the kitchen was coming out. Cooking had begun.

Shang Zhenkun returned to the house and brought out a bottle of alcohol and three cups.

Jiang Xinyu brought out the spicy boiled pork slices, the spicy garlic aroma was mouthwatering.

”Jiang Xinyu, your skills have improved, it smells wonderful.”

”Of course we must prepare our best dish to treat Director Yao, and also—”

Qian Jun stood up, ”I’ll help.”

”No need, it’s almost done. I only made four dishes, they’re all ready.”

Then she brought out a big pot of Haidilao, looking red and oily, very appetizing.

Both kinds of boiled dishes were served in enamel bowls, looking particularly nice.

Finally, she brought out shredded potatoes and cucumber salad.

Shijing had already set the bowls and chopsticks neatly, with chopsticks placed specially on the right side of the bowl, and very orderly.

Finally, Jiang Xinyu brought out a big bowl of rice, ”Let’s dig in, don’t stand on ceremony, you two.”

”Thank you, Director Jiang.” Qian Jun nodded with a smile.

Shang Zhenkun poured them each a cup of alcohol. ”Have a little, but not too much.”

Now Yao Shimin and Qian Jun were focused on eating. Jiang Xinyu had used two pounds of meat for the spicy boiled pork slices. It was indulgent, all meat.

Even more so with the Haidilao. Originally, Qian Jun couldn’t handle spicy foods, but seeing the two children enjoying it so much, he picked up a piece to try and was immediately conquered, unable to put his chopsticks down.

When Shang Zhenkun wanted to pour them a second cup of alcohol, both of them refused. One had to drive later, and the other was in a bad mood and had to take the train.

Shang Zhenkun didn’t insist. Jiang Xinyu helped them serve the rice.

”Director Jiang, your household is too good, isn’t it?”

”It’s okay, but usually we don’t eat this well. This meal is just to treat you two.”

”Thank you so much, I’ve never had such delicious food.”

”This is a style from over there, our family all likes it quite a bit.”

This meal lasted forty minutes; both men ate too much and felt a bit embarrassed.

”Want some more watermelon?” Jiang Xinyu asked with a smile.

Both shook their heads; they’d eaten too much and couldn’t fit any more.

”Director Jiang, these enamel bowls are really pretty.” Yao Shimin said.

”Aren’t they? I like them too. I’ll give you and Mr. Qian a set each.”

”Thank you so much.” Both accepted without hesitation.

Jiang Xinyu quickly tidied up the table. Shang Zhenkun chatted with the two men.

After sitting for another ten minutes, the two stood up to say goodbye and left.

As Yao Shimin was leaving, he looked longingly at Jiang Feifei.

However, Shijing stood far away with his sister, afraid Uncle Yao would come over to take her.

Jiang Xinyu saw the two off, ”Jiang Xinyu, I have to go back too.”

”Director Yao?”

”Haha, my wife wants to divorce me. I have to go see.”

This really couldn’t be advised against. Jiang Xinyu looked at Yao Shimin awkwardly.

”Don’t look at me with that expression, I’ve come to terms with it; it’s no big deal.”

”Then I wish you a safe journey.”

Both nodded, carried their bags, and got into the car. ”Director Jiang is truly remarkable in every way, even his daughter is so charming.”

Qian Jun said nothing, now his thoughts were wavering. He too liked these two children very much, they were so lovable.

If he had to raise them himself, it wouldn’t be a problem.

Jiang Xinyu was indeed quite good; she was capable at work, excellent at housework, and had a good character. Having spent this long together, she was definitely a good wife.

”I’ll take you to your dormitory, and in the evening I’ll see you off.”

”Sure, Qian Jun, I’ll try to come back. In the meantime, help me look for a suitable house. I’ll come back and settle here after my divorce.”

”I’ve realized it too, couples really can’t be too far apart. It’s not bad to find a wife here, at least you can see her every day.”

”Yes, seeing Jiang Xinyu’s two kids today made me so envious. I also want to start a family soon and have kids. I’m not young anymore. I’m almost thirty, time waits for no one.”

Qian Jun thought to himself, you’re only twenty-eight, while I’m already thirty-two. I’m the one who really should settle down, right?

Qian Jun was even more certain in his heart; he wanted Jiang Xinyu.

After seeing them off, Jiang Xinyu quickly prepared bathwater for the two kids.

Then she took a bath herself, finally feeling comfortable. Summer was truly hard to endure; it was so hot, but it would cool down soon with September approaching.

Mother and daughter lay on the kang bed, enjoying the breeze from the electric fan. ”Mom, did you work hard today?”

”It’s okay. Mom still doesn’t have a proper job, so it’s not too tiring.”

”Mom, don’t work too hard.”

Jiang Xinyu smiled as she rubbed her daughter’s hand, ”I know, your mom isn’t that ambitious. Are you and your brother used to being home?”

”Yeah, we’re quite busy. After you leave, we study, but Master Shang’s cooking skills are really not great.”

Jiang Xinyu listened to her daughter’s complaints and laughed.

”Tomorrow morning, Mom will make breakfast for you.”

”No need. It won’t be fresh by noon. We just need to have a good lunch.”

”You little rascal. No, you should eat at the restaurant for lunch, go find Uncle Ding.”

”Mom, there’s really no need. Rest assured, we won’t go hungry. We can take care of ourselves.”

”Okay, I believe you. Go to sleep now; kids who sleep a lot become smart.”

”Goodnight, Mom.”

”Goodnight, darling.”
