Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

”You seem to have good connections.”

”Not too bad, it’s because of work. Director Wei.” Lu Weiqi suddenly stood up.

”Secretary Lu, come to eat? Who is this?”

”Director Wei, this is my partner, Tian Wenyan. Wenyan, this is the director of our textile factory.”

Tian Wenyan stood up, smiled, and shook hands with Wei Kaiyun. Both gave a light touch and then let go.

Wei Kaiyun went to get food. Tian Wenyan smiled and said, ”Your Director Wei is quite young, I thought he’d be in his fifties or sixties.”

”Yes, our Director Wei is only thirty-three this year.”

After finishing their meal, they said goodbye to Wei Kaiyun and left.

Lu Weiqi rode his bike to take Tian Wenyan home.

”Do you want to come to my house for a while?”

Lu Weiqi looked at the time, which was already eight o’clock, and with a smile, shook his head ”No, it’s too late, I’m worried your family has gone to rest, it might not be appropriate for me to go in at this time.”

Tian Wenyan entered her home and was immediately called by her mother.

”Why so late?”

”Lu Weiqi picked me up, then we went to take a look at the dormitory building, and ate at the textile factory.”

”Hmm, is the dormitory building renovated?”

”Yes, just missing furniture. This Saturday afternoon, his friend from the furniture factory is coming over to measure for sizes.”

”Is the house big?”

”It’s a three-bedroom, plus a living room, bathroom, kitchen, especially spacious.”

Mrs. Tian was delighted, ”If you two make it, we’ll cover the cost of the furniture.”

”Their family has long been ready with the timber, so it’s just a matter of processing fees.”

”In that case, we will accompany it with a sewing machine and a radio.”

”Mom, you’ll need to make me a couple of sets of luggage. Wei Kaiyun’s intention is to make furniture for all three rooms, two double beds, and one single bed.”

”Alright, I’ve already prepared sixty pounds of cotton, if it’s not enough, I will go and buy more.

Wenyan, have you made up your mind?”

”I’ll have to see his family for dinner this Saturday before deciding.”

”Today, my sister said that the Lu Family people are all really good, well-connected, and the entire family is harmonious.”

”Yes, I’ll go take a look to know. On Sunday, should I invite him over to our house for dinner?”

”Alright, I’ll prepare ahead.”

At lunch the next day, Lu Weiqi still went to the school to meet Tian Wenyan.

Their feelings progressed quickly, both had decided on each other.

On Saturday at eight in the morning, Lu Weiqi was driven out by his mom, with snacks and white wine hanging on the handlebars.

Lu Weiqi was invited into Tian Wenyan’s home. The Tian Family’s conditions were quite good, visible from the exterior. Mrs. Tian warmly entertained Lu Weiqi.

The two sat chatting in Tian Wenyan’s room, with the future mother-in-law being extremely enthusiastic.

It was the first time Lu Weiqi entered a girl’s room, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

”Want some water?”

He shook his head, ”Do you live alone?”

”Yes, my younger brother and sister live in the side rooms.”

Lu Weiqi saw a photo of Tian Wenyan on the cabinet, looking at the shyly smiling girl, he felt she was really quite pretty.

The two stayed in her home for a while, and at nine-thirty, Lu Weiqi took the gift-carrying Tian Wenyan to his own home.

Lu Ma was unusually prepared today, showing satisfaction with her daughter-in-law.

Lu Family’s younger siblings were also home and quite liked their older sister-in-law, ”Wenyan, look, our family all likes you, this is fate.”

”Yes, I likes your family members as well.”

After the meal, Tian Wenyan helped with the chores, Lu Ma watched the nimble girl and felt even more satisfied.

The two chatted in Lu Weiqi’s room. Seeing so many books inside, Tian Wenyan was even more satisfied. She had graduated high school and hoped to find someone educated, so they’d have common topics to discuss.

”Wenyan, do you want to lie down and take a nap? If you’re not used to it, I can sit in the main room and read.”

”No need, I’m not sleepy, let’s chat.”

The two discussed a book and became even more satisfied with each other in their hearts.

In the afternoon, the two went upstairs, Lu Weiqi’s friend brought a master craftsman over to measure the dimensions, lastly adding a shoe cabinet, and deciding to use marble for the kitchen countertop.

Then the four returned to the Lu Family, looked at the timber, and the craftsman praised the well-prepared timber, urging Lu Weiqi to deliver it quickly, saying it could be crafted within ten days.

”Lu Weiqi, I don’t want any paint, the natural wood color looks nice,” said Tian Wenyan with a smile.

”Sure, no problem.”

”Alright, it’s good material, a coat of clear varnish will do,” added the craftsman with a smile.

”Master, I’ll deliver the wood tomorrow.”

”Weiqi, I’ll find a truck to pull it over later, so you won’t need to find one.”

”Thanks.”

In the evening, Tian Wenyan still ate at the Lu Family’s. ”Wenyan, you two are such a great match, if possible, I’ll find your aunt the day after tomorrow, to set a date for engagement. The house is ready, once the furniture is moved in, we’ll handle your wedding.”

Tian Wenyan nodded with flushed cheeks ”Yes.”

Lu Ma was cheerful. Finally having a daughter-in-law, she could put away her concern after the eldest son got married.

Lu Weiqi took Tian Wenyan home ”Come to my place for dinner tomorrow, my mom has long been prepared.”

”Okay, I’ll arrive at nine.”

Mrs. Tian had been waiting for her daughter, ”How was it? Did you feel comfortable with the Lu Family people?”

”Mom, the Lu Family parents are really easy to get along with, his dad just doesn’t talk much but I find it good. The siblings are also sensible.”

”That’s good.”

”Mom, furniture measurement at the factory was finished this afternoon, the timber was pulled away too.

In the evening, his mom said the day after tomorrow she will find my aunt to fix a date for our engagement. The furniture will be ready to move home at most in twenty days, and then we’ll discuss the wedding date.”

”Alright, we’ll set the engagement this month’s end, and can wed on October 1.”

On Sunday, Lu Weiqi still brought several gifts over.

Today, Mrs. Tian prepared an especially sumptuous lunch, mainly because she was satisfied with Lu Weiqi, this son-in-law looked better and better.

The two had no plans for the afternoon, so they went upstairs to clean up, wiped windows, and measured the curtains and door curtains.

”Wenyan, we still have to go to the furniture factory; the room doors were forgotten to be ordered.”

”Should we put the doors?”

”Better tidy everything now, rather than wait until later, which would be troublesome.”

The two rode to the furniture factory, and someone was sent over again, the door dimensions were measured, and Lu Weiqi found a truck to transport two pieces of timber.

In the evening, the two returned to the Tian Family for dinner, an arrangement made at lunchtime.

On Monday noon, Lu Weiqi found Tian Xiuhua, ”Shouldn’t the two families set a date to meet and discuss the engagement date?”

”Sure, how about tomorrow evening, everyone comes to my place.”

”Better to come to my place, and let Uncle Tian’s family see our home.”

Tian Xiuhua was satisfied with this, ”Alright, let’s set it for tomorrow evening.”
