Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

On Tuesday night, the two families gathered to discuss, deciding the engagement will be on June 30th, just thirteen days away.

”Tian Family sister-in-law, how about giving one hundred and one for the engagement?” Mrs. Lu asked Mrs. Tian.

”Sure, that’s not too little.”

Both are straightforward people, and they deal with things efficiently.

”Lu Family sister-in-law, for their wedding, I’ll accompany Wen Yan with a sewing machine, a radio. I’ll also make her six sets of travel goods. Plus, I’ll give each of them two sets of clothes.”

The two simply discussed directly without needing a mediator to convey messages.

Both were eager to bring honor to their children, so there weren’t any disagreements.

Until nine in the evening, the Tian Family left. The two families began preparing for their engagement, which was straightforward — it was the two families formally sitting down for a meal together.

They had already agreed, the children would marry on October 1st, so preparations were necessary.

On the day of the engagement, the two families hosted it at a restaurant, marking the day Tian Wenyan officially became part of the Lu Family.

In July, on the first weekend, the furniture Lu Weiqi custom-ordered arrived. The house, once empty, was now filled, creating a different effect immediately.

On Sunday, they hung curtains and door drapes, and the couple prepared kitchen gear.

Cooking pots and pans, the couple prepared them together, creating a particularly warm feeling.

Jiang Xinyu had finished her exams, and her diploma was scheduled to be issued on July 10th.

This finally settled her uneasy mind. Jiang Xinyu started packing things at home.

She packed what needed to be sent back home, initially planning to give the bedding to Bai Hongying, but Zhang Shuping wanted it, leaving no choice but to say she needed to mail it back to continue using herself.

Jiang Xinyu felt rather upset. She really couldn’t stand using others’ leftovers.

There was too much cotton clothing and quilts at home, so Jiang Xinyu secretly packed them into storage space, as mailing them back wasn’t worthwhile. Just stored them there.

Just five days until she could get her diploma, Jiang Xinyu was really a bit excited.

She took the children to call Wei Kaiyun, but no one answered for half a day. Was he not in the office?

The children were a bit disappointed, but after mom took them to the building and bought them candy, they cheered up immediately.

Back home, looking at the noticeably emptier house, she felt a bit emotional.

”Mom?”

”Sweetie, we’re going home.”

Jiang Feifei smiled while Shi Jing looked at mom helplessly.

Mom talked about going home almost every day.

”Sweeties, I’m just afraid it’s too hot on the train, really not a good time.” Jiang Xinyu feared the kids would suffer heatstroke, but there was no solution, no electricity on the train for fans to work.

”Mom, we can use fans. Master Shang said a calm mind keeps cool.”

”Great, a calm mind keeps cool. Did you say goodbye to your little friends?”

”We’ve said goodbye already, and shared our toys with them.”

Jiang Xinyu looked at the children contentedly. That’s how it should be. Perspective and stature need to be broadened, instead of settling for a narrow mindset.

During dinner, Bai Hongying seemed a bit distracted.

”Aunt Bai, what’s wrong?”

”Nothing, just reluctant about you leaving.”

”Grandma Bai, why don’t you come home with us?”

”Shi Jing, you’re going to your own home, Granny Bai’s home is here.”

Jiang Xinyu wasn’t quite sure how to comfort her. She was reluctant to part with Bai Hongying, but the distance was too far to uproot someone so elderly.

Shang Zhenkun was still the same, just a small bundle with some change of clothes.

The children’s belongings were packed by themselves, although what they forgot, Jiang Xinyu helped pack.

On the ninth, Zhang Shuping and Zhao Lizheng came over. They were excited too, since soon they’d have their own house.

Seeing the still tidy house, the couple felt satisfied. Zhang Shuping initially thought the fan was left for them, but seeing the box next to it realized it would be going with them.

”Xinyu, sell me the fan?”

”Sister Shuping, the fan is really hard to buy, it’s too hot, the children are still small, we need it as well, sorry.”

Zhang Shuping’s smile stiffened, but it was the truth, they didn’t want to sell it, and there was nothing she could do.

This time Jiang Xinyu invited them to stay over, and it was good to finish what’s left of food at home.

At three in the afternoon, she took the kids to the post office again. This time, the call went through.

Jiang Feifei unabashedly questioned Wei Kaiyun about not answering the call a few days ago.

”Dear daughter, Dad didn’t know. Dad was in the workshop these days, my apologies. I’ll be more attentive next time.”

After Wei Kaiyun explained, he was finally forgiven.

Returning the children home, she went to the train station herself. Since her bicycle was already sent back, walking was the only option.

She spoke kindly at the train station, gave unused local tickets to the clerk, finally happily getting four sleeping berth tickets to take home.

”Did you get tickets?” Shang Zhenkun asked.

”Got them, the train at four thirty early on the eleventh, Master Shang, I bought four sleeping berth tickets.”

Shang Zhenkun replied with a smile, ”Nice, this way it’s good, the kids can suffer less.”

”Yeah, that’s what I thought, just our family in the room, more freedom and convenience.”

Bai Hongying came over, she fried many twists in the afternoon for the kids.

Foods like that can be kept for a while.

Actually, leftover food was given to Bai Hongying by Jiang Xinyu days ago, avoiding Zhang Shuping from taking things.

”Xiao Jiang, I borrowed a cart, I’ll push it over tomorrow to take you.”

”Alright, thank you Aunt Bai.”

”No need for formality with me?” Certainly not, Jiang Xinyu paid her monthly wage, plus an extra fifty, such generosity.

Dinner was pancakes, porridge, with salty eggs.

The children ate properly. Seeing such young, sensible kids, Zhang Shuping was envious.

Early the next morning, they went to school together, no gowns but plenty of group photos taken.

This kept them busy for half a day. Before leaving, Jiang Xinyu found Zhang Xinghua, ”Advisor, can you send me the developed photos when they’re out?”

”No problem at all, rest assured, they will be sent to you, just wait,” Zhang Xinghua replied with a smile.
