Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 390: 390 times back to hometown

Lv Beiguang felt dizzy and didn’t know when he fell asleep, but in his dreams, it was all about Jiang Xinyu.

After Jiang Xinyu entered the house, Shang Zhenkun cheerfully asked the two children.

”Master Shang, the food outside isn’t as delicious as home, but the two of us are full.”

”That’s right, it should be that way. You don’t know the life outside; people can’t even have a meal like ours in a year. So, you two should get used to life outside.”

The two children nodded. They really didn’t know; they’ve lived like this since childhood, thinking it should be this way. But yesterday, eating at Aunt’s house, it was just ordinary food, yet seeing the happy expressions on their sister and brother, and today going out to eat, everyone said it was very good, but they felt it wasn’t bad, thinking at home they could eat like this every few days.

Now Master Shang told them that others can’t even have it once a year. Is it really like this?

Jiang Xinyu smiled on the side, not explaining much. She truly didn’t want the kids to suffer, but Master Shang’s education was very right.

She couldn’t bear it, but with Master Shang teaching like this, she wouldn’t oppose it; instead, she would support it.

She prepared bath water for the two of them, watched them finish washing, dried their hair, and let them sleep before she took her bath.

With her hair still wet, she sat in the courtyard. The evening breeze outside was quite pleasant.

Wei Kaiyun should arrive tomorrow, right? Also thinking about the gossip she would face at work, she felt a headache.

Returning to the village tomorrow might also make her the focus of others, which she really didn’t like.

After her hair dried, she went back inside, seeing the sleeping, beautiful little girl, and felt it was all worth it. Being talked about, so what?

Lying down beside her daughter, she also fell asleep shortly.

She got up at five the next morning, wanting to leave early to avoid the strong midday sun.

”Master Shang, we’re going out to eat. How about you go to a restaurant for lunch?”

”Don’t worry about me; I’ve been living alone for so many years, I won’t starve. You three go ahead, I’ll head over myself later.”

”Mom, are we going to find Sister Xiangting and the others?”

”Yes, we’ll find them first. You each take your water bottle and straw hat, let’s head out.” Jiang Xinyu prepared three types of six pounds of snacks to take back.

The four of them went to Wang Ailing’s house; the adults were already up, and Wang Ailing didn’t expect Jiang Xinyu to come so early. She hurriedly woke up the two children.

”Sister, we’re going out to eat fried dough sticks and tofu pudding.” Jiang Feifei followed Chen Xiangting, watching her wash up.

”That’s too wasteful.”

Jiang Xinyu burst into laughter at the little girl’s words. ”Sister, you’ve taught them well.”

”I must teach them well; they can’t be as wasteful as you.”

”It’s okay; just this once, I’m treating my niece and nephew to a meal.”

The happiest was Chen Liangyu. The little guy had tasted it once before and still remembered the flavor.

The two adults and four children went to the breakfast shop together.

”You four eat well so you won’t be hungry on the road.”

Jiang Xinyu only ate one fried dough stick and a bowl of tofu pudding.

”Xinyu, are you eating just this little?”

”Sister, I live well, not lacking in nutrition, so I don’t eat much.”

It was already 6:10, and the two of them set off with the two children.

”Xinyu, my brother has been helping to repair your house, don’t worry.”

”I really have to thank Brother Xiao Long. This time, I only brought some snacks for the kids, which feels a bit embarrassing.”

”Don’t be a stranger; don’t feel awkward.”

”Sister, brother Xiao Long’s son Fuqing is already six, right? Should he be starting school?”

”He’s already in school, but that boy just wants to run wild outside, and his dad spanked him several times. My parents keep saying you’ve achieved something by getting into college, so they must make Fuqing go to school.”

”Haha, indeed, children should go to school. Not that they must get into college, but having an education helps them become sensible, obviously much better than staying at home.”

”That’s what my dad says too.”

The two of them chatted while the children weren’t idle either, always so happy.

Xiangting sang for her younger siblings.

Jiang Xinyu listened; this little girl really had a musical talent. ”Sister, you’ve taught Xiangting really well, she must always be so confident.”

”She’s just loves to perform.”

”What’s wrong with loving to perform? Girls should be like this.”

”Auntie, do I sing well?”

”Yes, you should keep practicing; maybe my Xiangting could become a singer in the future.”

”Really?”

”Of course, your voice is sweet. You can ask your music teacher to teach you singing techniques, and it’s best to learn to read music. Maybe you can compose your pieces someday.”

Jiang Xinyu’s words inspired the little girl to make up her mind.

Wang Ailing just smiled; she didn’t know how to teach children, but she felt Xinyu was right.

”Sister, does your family have a radio? You can learn the songs from it. My favorite is ’Singing for My Country’; can you sing it?”

”I can; our teacher taught us.”

All the way, the little girl sang, and everyone enjoyed it, not feeling tired at all.

They reached the village after an hour and a half.

”Sister, I’ll head home directly. Once I’m settled, I’ll come over.”

”Alright, let’s have lunch at my place; I’ll cook.”

”Okay, I’ll take the kids to burn joss paper for my parents first, then I’ll come over.”

”Aren’t the kids too young? You’d better leave them with me and go burn the paper yourself.”

”It should be fine; I asked Master Shang.”

Initially, Jiang Xinyu was worried, but Master Shang assured her it was okay.

”Xinyu, better safe than sorry. Shi Jing is only four; you should be careful.”

”Alright, I’ll bring them to you in a bit. But let’s let the kids go home first.”

After they separated, Jiang Xinyu rode directly to her home, ”Shi Jing, Feifei, this is Mommy’s house, and of course, it’s your home too.”

”Mommy, why is it so run-down?” Shi Jing had been wondering the whole way.

Jiang Xinyu smiled, opening the door for the two kids to go in.

”Shi Jing, you were born and raised in the city and have never been to the countryside. Let me tell you, most people live like this.”

”Mommy, there’s so much corn.” On the way, Jiang Xinyu told the two kids about the types of crops.

”Yes, they’re already forming ears; I wonder if they’re edible yet?”

Jiang Xinyu led the two children inside.

There was still a musty smell, though not strong, probably because the Wang Family often came to open the windows for ventilation.

”Mommy, why is it so dark?”

”Because the windows aren’t made of glass, and besides, our house hasn’t been lived in for years.”
