Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 395: 395 starting work

The two left with the children, talking and laughing along the way. The cheerful laughter of the children allows one to forget all worries after hearing it.

”Xinyu, why don’t you bring Jing and Feifei to my house for a meal?”

”No, Master Shang is still at home.”

”Alright then, let’s go our separate ways.”

Jiang Xinyu and her children knocked on the door, and the two kids chattered around Shang Zhenkun, telling Master Shang about all the interesting things they saw when they went out today.

Jiang Xinyu cooked rice and fried eggs with pickled vegetables in the evening.

Lying in bed, Jiang Xinyu thought about going to work tomorrow. Saying she wasn’t hesitant would be impossible.

In her previous life, she endured a lot of criticism from others, and she knew that feeling all too well.

But she couldn’t shy away. She actually thought about quitting and staying at home to take care of the two children.

However, she really felt guilty for the care given to her by the textile factory for four years.

The most crucial point was that she feared she would become dependent.

And she wouldn’t have the ability to face all future obstacles.

She got up early the next day to steam buns for her family.

Sugar buns, flower rolls, and buns. Below, the pot was cooking sorghum and mung bean porridge.

Her family got up and practiced in the courtyard. During this time, Jiang Xinyu hadn’t required them, so it was hit or miss, and today the two kids were struggling, but Shang Zhenkun didn’t criticize them.

After all, the children are indeed too young. But with their strong self-esteem, they could hardly take it.

”It’s okay, now you know, right? Don’t give up halfway on anything. Keep this lesson in mind for the future.”

The two kids nodded dejectedly, and Jiang Xinyu found it amusing. How did she, a laid-back person without ambition, manage to raise two competitive children?

”Alright, Mom’s going to work, and will be back at noon.”

”Xiao Jiang, you don’t need to come home at noon. I’ll cook for the kids, so don’t worry.”

”Can you do it, Master Shang?”

”Yes, don’t worry.”

”Mom, it’s too hot. Don’t come back at noon. Take a nap. We’ll wait for you to make us something delicious in the evening,” Jiang Feifei said, holding her mom’s hand worriedly.

Jiang Xinyu reached out to touch her daughter’s cheek. ”Okay, Mom won’t come home at noon. You two behave and listen to Master Shang.”

At seven o’clock, Jiang Xinyu set off on time. Riding her bike, she saw the crowd on their way to work, knowing she was one of them.

Upon reaching the factory gate, she got off her bike. There’s a rule here: no riding bikes inside; one must get off and push them in.

Many people noticed Jiang Xinyu, ”Director Jiang, you’re back?”

”Yes, good morning, Xiao Zhang.”

”Director Jiang, did you graduate?”

”Yes, I’ve been away for four years.”

From the gate on, Jiang Xinyu didn’t have a moment’s rest, greeting everyone along the way.

She felt happy inside, knowing everyone still remembered her.

”Director Jiang, Director Jiang.”

Jiang Xinyu turned her head, seeing Song Qingqing quickly walking back towards her.

”Secretary Song, it’s been a while.”

”Director Jiang, I heard everyone saying you were back and guessed it was you from the back,” Song Qingqing said with a smile.

”Yes, I’m back.” Jiang Xinyu felt nostalgic; it’s been four years, and everyone has changed.

As the two parked their bikes, they heard a voice, ”Director Jiang, Qingqing!”

They both smiled, seeing Pan Xiulan approaching and stood aside waiting for her.

The three often hung out together before; they spent a lot of time together and often met.

”Director Jiang, you’ve become prettier.”

”Yes, I also think Director Jiang has become prettier.”

”Haha, I feel the same.” The three giggled as they walked towards the office.

”By the way, I’ve brought gifts for you, come to my house after work tonight to pick them up?”

”Director Jiang, what is it?” Pan Xiulan asked, smiling.

”Enamel items, they’re especially beautiful. I brought quite a few; I gave Secretary She some the other day, and they all said they were nice.”

”That’s wonderful, I’ll go home with you after work.”

Song Qingqing also nodded with a smile. It’s not about the quantity or quality, but Director Jiang’s thoughtfulness.

The three parted ways, each heading to their own offices.

Jiang Xinyu saw her office was still tidy; someone must have been cleaning it periodically.

She immediately swept the floor, fetched water, and wiped the desk, furniture, the single bed, and windows that had been there for years.

When the work bell rang, she also finished tidying.

She fetched water again to freshen up. Organizing herself, she took her graduation certificate to the factory manager’s office.

Qian Jun had already heard from Song Qingqing that Jiang Xinyu was back. Sitting behind his desk, while he appeared calm, he was somewhat eager inside.

It’s been four years since they last met; he wondered how Jiang Xinyu had been and was really looking forward to seeing her.

Arriving at the factory manager’s office, Song Qingqing smiled, ”Director Jiang, Mr. Qian is waiting for you.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded with a smile and entered the office directly.

”Mr. Qian, I’m back.”

Qian Jun stared at this woman who had changed significantly, not knowing how to describe his feelings.

She had shed her greenness, now showing a touch of mature elegance.

”Welcome back. Finally, after four years, you’ve returned.”

”Yes, finally back. Here’s my graduation certificate.”

Qian Jun took it, ”Very impressive. It has a substantial feel just looking at it.”

Jiang Xinyu then handed over her party membership certificate to Qian Jun. ”I’ve successfully joined the party at school too.”

”Our factory has a party branch; go register and also register at the archives room.”

”Yes.”

”Alright, focus on these tasks this morning, and in the afternoon we’ll go to the county, County Magistrate Tao has asked about you a few times.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded with a smile and turned to leave.

Qian Jun watched her leaving silhouette, still overlapping with that of years past.

He asked himself internally, could he accept that child? Can he?

Over all these years, only Jiang Xinyu had stirred his heart, but she wasn’t perfect anymore, and he needed to think carefully, as there was now a child between them.

Gathering his thoughts, he immediately immersed himself in work.

Jiang Xinyu first went to the archives, exchanging pleasantries, and everyone congratulated Jiang Xinyu; being a college graduate is rare, and naturally, everyone envied her.

The archives director personally handled her paperwork. Looking at the graduation certificate, he didn’t stop congratulating her, and then seeing the party membership card led to even more congratulations.

Jiang Xinyu then visited the party branch. In such a large factory, there were only a few party members. Here, the registration has been handed over to a young girl who’s in charge, but frankly, the party branch hasn’t played much of a role. Aside from production, everything else was under the union.

Lu Changchun warmly welcomed Jiang Xinyu, ”Director Jiang, congratulations, indeed you’ve returned triumphantly from your studies.”
