Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 399: 399 Yao Shimin

Yao Shimin was stunned. ”Yu Wensu, why insist on a divorce? I’m about to return, and then we can live together as a couple.”

”In these three years, I’ve lost hope in you. You haven’t fulfilled any responsibilities as a husband; having you as a husband is like not having one. I’ve had enough of such a life.

Yao Shimin, let’s divorce. I’m fed up. I don’t even want to think about you now.”

Yao Shimin’s hand holding the receiver was bulging with veins.

He said nothing and abruptly hung up the phone.

Immediately, he dialed the number of his mother’s workplace.

”Mom, is there something wrong with Yu Wensu?” He couldn’t believe his mother wouldn’t get along with Yu Wensu.

”Minzi, she hasn’t been home for two months. I went to her department to find her, and she’s avoiding me.”

”Mom, I just called her, she wants to divorce me.”

”Minzi, actually I’ve heard that their director is very good to her.”

What more is there to understand? ”Mom, I’m coming back right away.”

”Alright, come back and solve it. Divorce is fine, your dad and I won’t stop you anymore, it’s all my fault.”

”Mom, don’t say that, what does this have to do with you? I’ll talk to you when I get back.”

Qian Jun was listening on the side and felt a bit sympathetic towards Yao Shimin, thinking that being married might be worse than being single, it seems couples really shouldn’t live too far apart.

”Come on, I’ll drive you to the station to check the train schedule.”

”Okay.” Yao Shimin responded with a bitter smile.

Although he didn’t have love for Yu Wensu, he truly cared for her wholeheartedly. She’s his wife, but what did he get in return? Now he felt clear-headed, fortunately, there were no children, otherwise, what would happen to the kids in the future?

The two didn’t pack but directly drove to the station.

Yao Shimin bought a ticket for the late-night train, so the two returned.

They were silent on the way; neither knew what to say. The feeling of being cheated on by his wife was truly terrible.

Qian Jun didn’t know how to comfort him, as anything said now felt futile.

They returned just in time for the end of the workday. Jiang Xinyu saw the two returning together, smiled, and greeted them.

”Jiang Xinyu, will you treat me to a meal?” Yao Shimin asked softly.

”Okay, I’ll go home first, then to a restaurant.” Jiang Xinyu was taken aback for a moment but quickly nodded.

”Let’s eat at your place, I just want to talk to you.”

”Alright, I’ll go buy groceries, Mr. Qian can join too, but you’ll have to wait about an hour before coming.

Anything in particular you’d like to eat?”

”Anything is fine. You don’t need to buy groceries.”

”It’s okay, I’ll take care of it. I’ll go arrange it now.” Jiang Xinyu said with a smile and left.

As she reached the door, she heard Pan Xiulan calling her from behind.

”Are you two having dinner at my place today? Mr. Qian and Director Yao will be eating at my house later.”

The two shook their heads, ”No, we have kids at home.”

”Alright, we’ll talk about it later; for now, come with me to grab something.”

The three headed home. ”Xinyu, my house is only a few minutes away from yours.” Song Qingqing said with a smile.

”That’s great, then the kids can play together in the future. Come in quickly.”

The two kids heard the commotion and immediately ran out.

”Mom, mom!”

”Hey, how’s today?”

”Today we learned ’Jian Jia’.”

”That’s amazing, even mom can’t remember that poem anymore.

Come, let me introduce you, this is your Aunt Song, and this is Aunt Pan.”

Song Qingqing and Pan Xiulan both paused, stunned by the children. How were they so beautiful, especially the little girl, incredibly pretty and charming.

”Aunt Song, Aunt Pan, I’m Jiang Shijing, welcome to our home.”

”Aunt Song, Aunt Pan, I’m Jiang Feifei.”

The two eagerly wanted to hug Jiang Feifei.

”Two aunts, my sister doesn’t like being held by others.”

Embarrassed, they put down their hands. ”Shijing, Feifei, we’re very happy to meet you both.” Song Qingqing said with a smile.

”Feifei, you are just too beautiful.”

Jiang Xinyu chuckled from the side.

”You two entertain your aunts, mom will go get something.”

Jiang Xinyu entered the kitchen, first taking out a basin, then soaking dried seafood in water from the storage room.

Finally, she retrieved two bags. ”One for each, inside are enamel products and chili peppers, Sichuan pepper, they’re specialties from that area.”

”Thanks, Xinyu, we won’t stay long. We’ll come over on Saturday.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded with a smile, ”Alright, bring the kids along.”

After seeing them off, Shang Zhenkun came out.

”Master Shang, I’m going grocery shopping, two friends are coming for dinner later.”

”Alright, we bought eggplants, potatoes, green beans, Chinese cabbage, and cucumbers at noon.”

”Okay, I understand, I’ll be back soon.”

Jiang Xinyu tied a basket to the back seat, then rode out.

After a loop around outside, she placed five pounds of eggs and a two-pound piece of meat at the entrance when she returned.

Then she started cooking rice, preparing hot pot style poached pork slices. Cooking a spicy and sour shredded potato dish would be enough.

Once the rice was steaming, she began to cook.

”Mom, there are guests at home.” Shi Jing ran into the kitchen to report.

Jiang Xinyu put down the spatula and walked out of the kitchen.

”Mr. Qian, Director Yao, please sit down. Shi Jing, go call Master Shang, have him come out.”

”Alright.”

Qian Jun kept staring at Shi Jing, the child looked incredibly familiar.

Yao Shimin was completely shocked; he didn’t know Jiang Xinyu already had two children.

Shang Zhenkun followed Shi Jing out with a smile.

”Mr. Qian, Director Yao, let me introduce you, this is my son Jiang Shijing, my daughter Jiang Feifei, and this is their master, Master Shang.”

The two children greeted politely, ”Mr. Qian, Director Yao.”

Jiang Xinyu was surprised by them, ”You two need to call them Uncle Qian and Uncle Yao.”

The two kids repeated. It was then that Yao Shimin realized, instantly hugging Jiang Feifei.

”Jiang Xinyu, can I have your daughter? Please?”

”Yao Shimin, you’re dreaming! Let go of my daughter, or I’ll kick you out!

Alright, sit down, Shi Jing, go get the watermelon, serve it to the uncles, I’ll finish cooking, and we can eat in twenty minutes.”

Jiang Xinyu turned back to the kitchen to continue cutting vegetables.

In the yard, Shang Zhenkun invited the two to sit down, Shi Jing ran to the kitchen and took out a knife to slice the watermelon.

Yao Shimin was clinging onto Jiang Feifei, not letting go, looking quite the creepy uncle.

”Uncle Yao, let go of my sister.” Shi Jing protested, annoyed that he kept holding onto his sister.

”Shi Jing, I really like Feifei.”

”Even if you really like her, it’s not okay. I like stars in the sky, too.”
