Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

”Dad, are there a lot of delicious foods in the Capital?”

”Yes, there are many delicious foods. Dad will definitely take you to try them all.”

The two children cheered.

After breakfast, the family of four packed their belongings; their train was at nine in the evening.

It’s just the change of clothes for the family of four and some essentials.

”Honey, should we bring the electric fan?”

”Bring it along, we’ll need it there too. We three will go directly back to T City from the Capital and not come back here.”

”Honey, when can you transfer over there?”

”I don’t know yet, we’ll discuss it when I return. I’ll report to the Management Bureau soon.”

”Okay, we three will wait for you at home. There will be arrangements once you’ve signed in.”

Jiang Xinyu felt conflicted too; not going would mean the family has to be apart, but transferring might be difficult for those over there. Let’s just wait for the arrangements from above.

She rode her bike straight to the Management Bureau; it was already office hours, and she directly knocked on the door of Zhu Peishan’s office.

”Come in.”

”Director Zhu, Jiang Xinyu from T City Textile Factory reporting.”

”Director Jiang? My goodness, you’ve turned into a grown young lady. Graduated from university? That’s great, truly wonderful.”

Zhu Peishan stood up, walked around the desk, and shook hands with Jiang Xinyu.

”Director Zhu, I haven’t shamed our Textile Factory. I graduated successfully, and in my third year, I proudly became a Communist Party member.”

After speaking, Jiang Xinyu took out her graduation certificate, academic record, Party membership certificate, and her personal file from her bag. These were her gains after four years at university.

Zhu Peishan did not return to his seat but instead sat with Jiang Xinyu on the side.

He looked at these documents with a big smile; he couldn’t hide his joy upon seeing the exceptionally high evaluation the school gave Jiang Xinyu.

”Great, truly great. Director Jiang, you’re truly remarkable.”

”This is thanks to the factory’s training.” Good words come easy, don’t they?

”Secretary Tang, come in.”

”Director Zhu.”

”Take these certificates to the archives, get them all registered for Director Jiang. Be careful, they’re very precious.”

”Got it, congratulations Director Jiang.”

”Thank you, Secretary Tang.”

After some polite conversation, Tang Wanquan took all the items to the archives.

”Director Jiang, what are your plans for the future?”

”Director Zhu, I’ll follow the arrangements from above. I’m here to serve the people no matter where. However, during my university years, the Textile Factory has been paying my wages, and I feel rather embarrassed about it. It’s the Textile Factory that has nurtured me.”

”Haha, you’ve brought glory to the Textile Factory by graduating and being able to serve the people even better.”

Jiang Xinyu chuckled, ”I will definitely use my capabilities to the fullest.”

”Director Jiang, when will you return to report in?”

”To be honest, Director Zhu, I plan to go on a trip first. I should be back at the Textile Factory by August 20th.”

”Going out for a trip?”

Jiang Xinyu nodded with a smile; some things aren’t necessary to mention.

”You should, after all, you haven’t been back in four years. By the way, Director Jiang, you are 22 years old now, right?”

”Yes, I’m 22 already.”

”Hahaha, such a good time. Do you have someone special?”

Jiang Xinyu smiled shyly, ”I have someone I like.”

Zhu Peishan felt a bit disappointed; he had wanted to introduce her to his nephew. Such an outstanding young woman would be perfect for his nephew. What a pity.

His nephew works at the Provincial Public Security Bureau as a Captain. It’s truly a pity, but maybe they can still meet; who knows if they might have a connection. After all, having someone you like doesn’t mean you’re married yet.

Jiang Xinyu smiled and said nothing, thinking to herself, ”I’m already the mother of two children.”

Just then, Secretary Tang returned with all the certificates.

Jiang Xinyu nodded to him, ”Director Zhu, I’d like to call Mr. Qian from our factory.”

”Do it right here. Secretary Tang, help dial the number.”

Qian Jun was having a meeting with Yao Shimin when he heard the phone ring, ”Hello, this is Qian Jun from the Textile Factory.”

”Hello Mr. Qian, I’m Secretary Tang from the Management Bureau. Hold on, Director Jiang wants to speak with you.”

Director Jiang? Jiang Xinyu has returned?

”Mr. Qian, it’s Jiang Xinyu.”

”Director Jiang, you’ve arrived in the Provincial City today? When will you come back?”

”I was thinking of returning on the 20th; is that alright? I’d like to travel a bit.”

”Sure, it’s already August 4th today, take a few days to enjoy yourself.”

”Thank you, Mr. Qian.”

”Director Jiang, have you registered at the Management Bureau?”

”Yes, I’ve completed the registration.”

”Okay, I’ll be waiting for you at the factory.”

”Alright.”

Jiang Xinyu hung up the phone, and just as she was about to leave, Zhu Peishan spoke, ”Director Jiang, please stay for lunch. Secretary Tang, inform the canteen to arrange a leadership meal. Director Jiang has been a great contributor.”

Jiang Xinyu wanted to refuse, but recalled what Wei Kaiyun told her before leaving, knowing he had already predicted she would be staying for lunch.

”Thank you, Director Zhu, it’s truly my honor.”

”No need to be polite. Director Jiang, you can relax at the club for a while; it’s very cool there.”

”Sure.” Jiang Xinyu began organizing her certificates.

”Director Jiang, I’ll have Secretary Tang come to get you before lunch.”

”No need to trouble, I’ll come over myself after eleven.” She felt it wasn’t appropriate to be waited on.

Jiang Xinyu drifted out, but did not go to the club; with two hours to spare, she rode back home.

After Jiang Xinyu left, Zhu Peishan immediately called his brother. Even though he wasn’t in the province, he still had to inform him.

”Brother, today I found a girl for Zhu Wenyuan, she’s 22 now; when she was 17, she was already the Office Director at T City Textile Factory. Then she got into X University, came back today, graduated from university, and the young lady is particularly capable; she’s the one who went to Russia a few years ago.”

”Alright, my criteria now is that he just finds a wife.”

”But the girl said she already likes someone. I think we should let Wenyuan meet her, maybe it could happen; after all, everyone wants a good girl. Doing this isn’t anything inappropriate, is it?”

”That’s not really right.”

”It’s no big deal, just meet for a meal this noon; maybe the two will have a connection.”

”Fine, just arrange it, and if this doesn’t work, keep looking.”

”Understood, there’s no rush.”

”How can we not rush? He’s already thirty and still unmarried? My comrades’ grandsons are already eight or nine.”

”Even those three can’t match Wenyuan alone.”

”It’s exactly because you all think like this that he doesn’t listen; he won’t get married.”

Zhu Peishan fell silent; now it seemed like everyone else’s fault.
