Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Jiang Feifei saw her mother so upset and forced herself to eat a few mouthfuls of porridge, but she really couldn’t eat any more.

After Jiang Xinyu bathed her daughter, she held her and lay down. Once the child fell asleep, she secretly shed tears again.

”Xiao Jiang, I’m sorry, it’s my incompetence.”

”Master Shang, how can it be your fault? Fortunately, the child is fine.”

Jiang Shijing lay on his bed, determined to become stronger so that one day he could defeat the bad guys.

Jiang Xinyu didn’t sleep the whole night, getting up every one or two hours to check on her daughter, afraid that she might show any signs of pain.

The next morning, Jiang Feifei opened her eyes and looked at her mother, who was watching her worriedly. ”Mom, I’m fine, I’m better. I don’t feel nauseous or weak anymore, you can relax.”

Jiang Xinyu was still a bit uneasy, but with her daughter’s words, she felt much more relieved.

The four of them went to the dining car, and when Jiang Feifei ate a small bowl of rice porridge, Jiang Xinyu finally truly felt at ease.

Taking advantage of the time the three of them had class, she took two bags of milk powder and two cans of malted milk to thank the male comrade from yesterday.

”Thank you, comrade, truly thank you very much.” Jiang Xinyu bowed deeply to him.

”Comrade, you’re too polite, it was the least I could do.”

”No, comrade, you don’t understand. The child means everything to me, this is just a token of appreciation, please accept it, and could you also please give me your contact information?”

”Comrade, there’s really no need for this.”

”I insist, comrade, please don’t refuse, it will make me feel better.”

Finally, with the contact information from the other person, Jiang Xinyu left behind the milk powder, malted milk, and her own contact details before leaving.

She spent the whole day watching her daughter, afraid she might be uncomfortable in any way.

The three also understood that Jiang Xinyu had been genuinely scared.

During the midday break, Jiang Feifei looked seriously at Jiang Xinyu, ”Mom, from now on, I’ll work hard to learn martial arts, and ensure nothing like this will happen again.”

”Alright, mom supports you, mom believes you can definitely do it.”

A week passed, and tomorrow they would reach the Provincial Capital.

Jiang Xinyu was a bit excited, finally, they could get off the train. It had been too uncomfortable, but neither of the two children complained or cried.

”Mom, will we see Dad soon?”

”Yes.”

”Will Dad come to pick us up?”

”He will. Didn’t you tell your dad our train number?”

”Mom, are we home?”

”Yes, we’re home, but we’re only staying for a few days, then we’ll go to another home.”

The two children were very excited too, finally about to see Dad.

Wei Kaiyun had already cleaned the house inside and out thoroughly two days ago, and this morning he specifically went to the train station to ask, knowing this train would arrive around noon tomorrow, so today he stayed at home.

Early the next morning, he began tidying up, then went to a restaurant to find Jiang Cong, asking him to prepare some dishes for him to pick up at eleven.

”Why are you going through all that trouble? Why not just eat here?”

”No, don’t ask, just hurry up and make me lots of good food.”

Jiang Cong shook his head, his friend, really... Since there weren’t many good ingredients in the kitchen today, he specifically went out, bringing back two pounds of meat for the chef to make into Sichuan pepper meat, and prepared the fish as sweet and sour.

They also made rice, two stir-fried green vegetables, and a bowl of egg custard.

Wei Kaiyun drove the food home, placed it on the table, then drove to pick up his wife and children, finally they were coming home.

He drove straight to the entrance of the train station, bought a platform ticket, prepared to see his wife and kids as soon as possible.

He kept asking about the arrival time of the train, getting the answer that it would be half an hour more.

Wei Kaiyun couldn’t sit still, kept pacing back and forth, unable to calm down.

He went straight to the platform, chatted with the workers there, asking questions.

Half an hour passed, but the train hadn’t come, so he went to inquire again.

”Delays are normal, don’t worry, are your family members seated or in sleeper beds?”

”Sleeper,” Wei Kaiyun provided their numbers.

”Then stand over where it says eight, and the compartment will roughly stop there.”

Wei Kaiyun thanked him repeatedly and immediately ran over to wait.

On the train, Jiang Xinyu and the others had also gathered all their belongings. The two children obediently sat on the bed, waiting.

”Xiao Jiang, you take the kids off the train and wait below, I’ll manage the luggage.”

”Master Shang, how about I do it?”

”No problem, I’ll handle it, you just keep an eye on the kids.” Shang Zhenkun felt very guilty about losing Jiang Feifei.

”Alright.”

Wei Kaiyun saw the train coming, watched the staff direct, and hurriedly ran over, ”Comrade, is this the train?”

”Yes, go wait there.”

Wei Kaiyun ran back, trying to calm his excited heart, but couldn’t quiet down.

Once the train stopped, he fixed his gaze on the door. Seeing the staff open the door, he immediately approached it.

There weren’t too many people getting off from the sleeper car, it wasn’t as crowded as the other cars.

Jiang Xinyu, holding her daughter and holding her son’s hand, just stood at the door when she saw Wei Kaiyun below.

Wei Kaiyun was the first to spot them. He sprang onto the train, ”Xinyu, Shijing, Feifei.”

”Dad.”

Jiang Xinyu smiled at Wei Kaiyun and handed Feifei to him, then squatted to pick up Shijing. The four of them got off together.

At this moment, Shang Zhenkun also came down carrying a bag.

”Master Shang, thank you for your hard work,” Wei Kaiyun hurried over to take the bag.

”It’s nothing, I’m not tired,” Shang Zhenkun smiled.

”You follow Master Shang to get the luggage.”

Wei Kaiyun didn’t want to leave his family even for a moment, but he knew there were things he had to do.

They worked quickly, making two trips to move all the luggage.

Wei Kaiyun held Jiang Xinyu’s hand, then ran over to find that directing comrade and borrowed a four-wheeled trolley where they could put all the luggage.

”Shijing, Feifei, do you want to ride up here? Dad will push you.”

The two kids nodded with smiles. Wei Kaiyun lifted them up and pushed them toward the exit.

The waiting hall was crowded and noisy, and the children found it quite fascinating.

”Dad has prepared delicious food for you, we’ll be home soon.”

He quickly loaded up the car and returned the trolley, arriving home with the family at a little past one.

After parking, he asked the four of them to go inside first while he unloaded the car.

Jiang Xinyu saw the yard had undergone a big change; two large vats of water were laid out to dry, and she immediately felt uncomfortable.

”Shijing, Feifei, shall we take a bath first?”

”Sure, let’s take a bath first.”
