Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Today, Lu Weiqi went to the union after lunch and found Sister Tian.

”Secretary Lu, do you have something you need help with?”

”Sister Tian, I came here to ask for your help.”

”What is it?”

”Sister Tian, I’m already twenty-five. Could you keep an eye out and introduce someone to me for marriage?”

”Haha, so that’s what it’s about? No problem, tell me what your requirements are.”

”Sister Tian, my requirement is that they have a good character, and their family should also be of good character. As for work and looks, average is fine.”

”That’s simple, there are plenty of those. I’ll introduce you to a pretty one and let you know by tomorrow.”

”Alright. Thank you, Sister Tian. Please make sure to tell them I’m already twenty-five so they won’t mind my age.”

”Sure, sure. I’ll remember.” Sister Tian was overjoyed. Her niece was twenty-one this year, an elementary school teacher, beautiful, and particularly honest.

Her sister-in-law had approached her several times, but there was no suitable match.

She had initially considered Secretary Lu, but he didn’t seem interested in matchmaking, so she let it go.

After Lu Weiqi asked this proactive lady for help, he returned to his office. He figured he had made the approach, and whether it worked out or not would depend on fate.

In the afternoon, Wei Kaiyun went to the workshop, and he was very satisfied to see the enthusiastic work environment. This meant he didn’t have to worry about the workload.

He was also very familiar with the machinery, so he would assist the workers in fixing minor issues.

He only returned to the office after work ended.

There were still last month’s accounts that hadn’t been checked. He decided to have dinner first and work overtime afterward.

Sister Tian excitedly returned to her mother’s house, ”Sister-in-law, sister-in-law.”

”Xiuhua, what is it?”

”Sister-in-law, I found a match for Wen Yan. Listen and see if it’s suitable.”

”Go ahead.”

”Sister-in-law, the guy is the secretary to the director of our textile factory. His name is Lu Weiqi, he’s twenty-five, he’s handsome, tall, and has a decent job. The family is from the city.”

”Why is he so old and still without a match?”

”I’m not quite sure, but I had asked him before, and he said he hadn’t thought about it yet. Today, he came to see me at noon.”

”Alright, then let them meet. They both live close enough that we can easily inquire about his family’s situation.”

”Yes, the young man said his main concern is character, both of the girl and her family. He doesn’t have specific requirements for looks and job.”

”Alright, shall we arrange a meeting for Saturday?”

”Sure, Saturday morning at my place. Our Wen Yan is great. If there’s no problem with the guy’s family, it should work out.”

The decision was made, and the next day at noon, Tian Xiuhua informed Lu Weiqi, ”Secretary Lu, meet at my house on Saturday morning. The girl is my niece from my mother’s side, she’s an elementary school teacher, twenty-one years old, beautiful, and tall.”

”Great, thank you, Sister Tian. I’ll be at your place by nine on Saturday.”

”Alright, my house is the fourth one in the second row behind the supply and marketing agency.”

They confirmed the arrangement, ”Sister Tian, is it alright if my mom wants to come too?”

”Of course, this way the two families can meet. I think you two will definitely like each other.”

In the evening, Lu Weiqi told his family about the girl, ”Mom, are you going to check her out?”

”Yes, I’ll go have a look. I’ll ask your aunt to go with us.”

On Saturday morning at eight-thirty, the three of them went to Tian Xiuhua’s house.

The front door was open, and inside, a pretty young lady was sitting on a stool in the main room.

Tian Wenyan felt a little shy seeing the man walk in.

Tian Xiuhua led the two young people to the west room to talk, while the parents held hands and went into the east room.

Lu Weiqi and Tian Wenyan entered the west room and sat on the edge of the kang (a traditional heated brick bed).

”Hello, my name is Lu Weiqi, I’m twenty-five, and I work in the textile factory.”

”Hello, I’m Tian Wenyan, I’m twenty-one and I teach at an elementary school.”

”Mr. Tian, I felt a good impression of you at first sight. How do you feel about me?”

Tian Xiuhua hadn’t exaggerated. This girl was indeed very pretty and seemed quite gentle.

Tian Wenyan smiled as she looked at Lu Weiqi, ”Mr. Lu, I also have a question I want to ask you. Can you answer me honestly?”

”Go ahead.”

”You’re twenty-five already. Why haven’t you found a match yet?”

Lu Weiqi smiled, ”I joined the textile factory at twenty and became the director’s secretary, which kept me very busy. I also felt I was young, so I didn’t pay it any mind.

When our director left, I moved to the logistics department and started dating someone. After a year, the person suddenly wanted to break up.

I’m not the type to cling, so we ended it.

When the director came back, I resumed my role as his secretary. Being busy at work was my excuse, but honestly, I wasn’t in the mindset to settle down.

But the elders were getting anxious, and I suddenly realized I was already twenty-five. It was time to settle down, so I approached Comrade Tian Xiuhua to help introduce someone.”

Tian Wenyan nodded. ”I see, then let’s see how things go between us from now on. We’ll get to know each other better in the future.

Let me tell you about myself. I didn’t get into college after high school, so I ended up teaching at an elementary school, and I got confirmed last year.

I haven’t had a partner before; I’ve seen a few, but something always felt off.”

”Then let’s give it a try. I promise to approach this with sincerity.”

An hour later, both sets of parents were satisfied with each other, and just like that, they were considered a couple.

At noon, the three declined Tian Xiuhua’s warm invitation and went home. They only brought two pounds of candies, so they felt it was impolite to stay for a meal.

”Sis, this girl seems nice and easy to get along with. She should be honest.”

”Yes, that’s what I thought too. Weiqi, will you invite Wenyan over to our place for a meal next week?”

”Sure, I’ll try. I’m just not sure if she’ll agree.”

”Weiqi, tell your aunt, do you like this girl?”

”Yes, she’s quite pretty, and her personality seems nice, so I don’t anticipate any conflicts.

I’m busy with work, and she has summer and winter holidays as a teacher, which is great.”

”Haha, as long as you like her, you should focus on this.”

After the Lu Family left, only the Tian Family remained.

”Wenyan, did you ask him why he hasn’t dated anyone at his age?”

Tian Wenyan repeated what Lu Weiqi had told her.

”Mom, Auntie, I think he was telling the truth, that should be the case.”

”That’s good then. I found his mom quite straightforward, not someone who’s difficult. It won’t be hard for Wenyan to get along with her in the future.”

”This Secretary Lu already has an apartment building. I heard his family is renovating it.”
