Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Wei Kaiyun waited until the bus stopped completely, then picked up his daughter and led his son off the bus.

The bus stop was still two hundred meters away from the restaurant. Jiang Feifei originally wanted to get down and walk by herself, but when she saw the old man’s eyes, she decided to let him carry her instead. Old people shouldn’t be strained.

”Shi Jing, do you want Daddy to carry you?”

”No need, you carry my sister. Don’t drop her.”

Jiang Feifei laughed immediately after hearing her brother’s words.

Wei Kaiyun looked at his son with a face full of lines, really not obedient at all. How could I possibly drop my precious one? Underestimating me too much.

So Wei Kaiyun did something particularly childish, crouched down, and picked up his son with his other arm as well.

”Son, don’t worry, your dad can still carry you now. I absolutely won’t drop both of you.” In the future, I definitely need to exercise more, can’t be like this, or my son will despise me. Just thinking about it brings tears of sadness.

The three of them reached the restaurant entrance just as Jiang Cong came out. Seeing Wei Kaiyun carrying two children, he couldn’t believe his eyes, rubbed them, then rushed over to the entrance.

”Xiao Wei, where did you snatch this little girl from, she’s so pretty, give her to me, give her to me.”

”Get lost. Hurry up and get some good food ready for us.”

”Xiao Wei, let me carry the little girl for you.”

Jiang Feifei held onto Wei Kaiyun’s neck tightly, wondering what this guy’s hobby was. Why did he look so obsequious?

”No need, hurry up, the little ones are hungry.”

”Alright, alright, you go inside first, I’ll prepare right away. Little girl, tell uncle what you like to eat?”

”I like everything.”

”Wow, so cute, how can you be so adorable?”

Jiang Shijing couldn’t take it anymore. Ever since his sister almost got taken by bad people on the train, he was always anxious whenever strangers looked at her.

”Dad, let’s not eat here, he wants to take my sister.”

”Shi Jing, don’t be afraid, this is your Uncle Jiang, greet him.”

Jiang Cong heard their conversation and was so shocked his jaw almost dropped. He took a closer look at the little boy who just spoke, and sure enough, he really looked like Xiao Wei.

At this moment, he led the three of them to a private room.

”Xiao Wei, I’ll go prepare, and will join you for dinner in a bit.”

”Alright.”

The three of them sat down, and Wei Kaiyun went outside to pour two cups of hot water for the kids to drink once it cooled down.

Jiang Cong was very quick, he personally brought all the dishes over.

There was a bowl of braised chicken cubes, a roast chicken, and a pot of potato stew with meat, which also included vermicelli.

There was also a plate of cucumber with vermicelli, and a plate of tomatoes mixed with sugar. It was truly a feast.

”Old Jiang, you brought out all the good stuff.”

”Yes, there are two tables of leaders today. What they have, we have, and we have stuff they don’t have. I’ll go get the steamed egg custard, specially steamed for my niece, and some rice.”

Wei Kaiyun took out his handkerchief and wiped the children’s chopsticks thoroughly. ”You two start eating first.”

”Dad, aren’t we going to wait for Uncle Jiang? Mom said that it’s not polite not to wait.”

Jiang Cong, who was carrying the egg custard away, overheard the little boy speaking and nodded silently; this kid was really well-taught.

”No need to wait for Uncle Jiang, I’m coming back in right away to eat with you. You two are young and can’t stand hunger, start eating and I’ll get the rice.”

Wei Kaiyun felt a sense of pride; these were his children, so well-mannered and polite.

Jiang Cong brought a bowl of rice and sat opposite Jiang Feifei, ”Xiao Wei, quickly let the kids eat.”

He picked up his chopsticks, took a chicken leg, and placed it in Jiang Feifei’s bowl. ”Niece, hurry up and eat, this is a chicken leg, Uncle Jiang saved it especially for you.”

Then he took a particularly good piece of chicken and put it in Shi Jing’s bowl.

”Big nephew, eat too. We need to take care of your sister, right? Good things should go to her first.”

”Uncle Jiang, I know.”

Jiang Cong and Wei Kaiyun barely ate, they were mainly there to serve the children.

”Xiao Wei, are these kids really your biological ones?”

”Old Jiang, don’t ask, it’s not good for you.”

”Okay, I understand now, they are my nieces and nephews then.”

Inside, he was genuinely curious, this little boy must be Wei Kaiyun’s son, but who was the mother? However, since Xiao Wei didn’t allow questions, he decided not to ask. Having worked for twenty years, he had met all kinds of people and gone through many situations, understanding that one should refrain from being too curious.

”Dad, Uncle Jiang, you eat too, I’m full,” Jiang Feifei put down her chopsticks. She was really full, worried that if she didn’t say anything, she’d end up overstuffed.

”Feifei, are you really full?” Wei Kaiyun asked.

”Yes, Dad, you quickly eat too.” She realized that Dad didn’t want others to know their relationship, maybe as a way to protect them?

However, this Uncle Jiang should be close to Dad.

Jiang Shijing also set down his chopsticks, ”Dad, Uncle Jiang, I’m full too, you should eat quickly, or it’ll go to waste.”

”Right, right, eat up, otherwise it’ll be wasted.”

The two men displayed strong eating abilities, finishing all the dishes on the table.

The two children also finished their water, sitting by the side curiously watching them eat.

Jiang Shijing was very envious, thinking that men should probably eat like this?

After eating, Jiang Cong went out and brought back two bottles of soda.

The two children both shook their heads, ”Mom said we can’t drink these, or we won’t grow tall.”

”Old Jiang, Shi Jing is right, their mom doesn’t let them drink these, plain water is enough.”

”I thought all kids liked these. These two are really well-taught, so self-disciplined.”

”Xiao Wei, what about in the future?”

”I’m taking the kids out for a few days of fun, but they can’t live with me yet.”

”I understand, nothing will get out from me.”

”I know you will. Alright, we’re heading back now.”

”Okay, there’s half a roast chicken here, take it with you.”

Wei Kaiyun shook his head, ”No need, we’re leaving today.”

Wei Kaiyun took the kids outside to settle the bill, only to be shooed away by Jiang Cong.

”Director Jiang, are those two Wei Kaiyun’s children?”

”No, Director Wei isn’t married, how could he have kids?”

Jiang Cong used this line to dodge several people’s questions.

The three were waiting at the bus stop for the bus. ”Dad, has Mom reached home yet?”

”I can’t be certain, but I think your mom should be home by now.”

The three of them waited a while before the bus arrived; it wasn’t the same bus as before. This time, Jiang Shijing measured himself against the door and felt he hadn’t grown any taller.
