Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 389: 389 Lv Beiguang

The alcohol was finished, and everyone had a bowl of sorghum rice.

Jiang Xinyu couldn’t finish such a large bowl.

”Director Jiang, if you can’t finish it, give some to me.” Lv Beiguang knew Jiang Xinyu’s small appetite, so he knew she couldn’t finish such a large bowl.

”Sure.” Jiang Xinyu was more than willing, quickly grabbing her daughter’s bowl and serving a third of it to herself, handing the rest to Lv Beiguang.

In the past, no one thought much of it when Lv Beiguang did this, but now Jiang Xinyu was a divorced woman, and inevitably people thought more about it.

The door was pushed open, and Wang Tongzhou entered with three children, marking the end of the meal.

They exchanged pleasantries for a while longer before everyone left.

Jiang Xinyu refused She Xiaoyun’s offer to see them off.

”Secretary She, I’m going the same way, I’ll see Director Jiang off.”

”Okay, that’s fine, I’m much more at ease now.” Although She Xiaoyun said this, she still felt a bit discontented, after all, Lv Beiguang was a man she had liked for five or six years. They never got together mainly because he never responded to her.

But watching his attitude towards Xinyu was still a bit uncomfortable.

The two rode bicycles without speaking along the way. As they approached Jiang Xinyu’s house, Lv Beiguang finally spoke, ”Xinyu, when do you start working?”

”The day after tomorrow.”

”What will you do tomorrow?”

”I want to take the two children to visit my parents’ graves.”

”Alright, don’t come back too late.”

”Don’t worry, it’ll be fine.”

Lv Beiguang stood outside watching Jiang Xinyu close the door before he finally rode away.

All the way, he thought of Jiang Xinyu’s somewhat sad expression.

She must really like that man, right? Who could it be?

His mind was in turmoil, and when he got home, it was his daughter who opened the door.

”Where’s your brother?”

”Dad, he’s doing his homework. School is about to start.”

”Sigh, really worrisome, he hasn’t even finished his summer homework. Jing Chu, you’re in middle school too, you must study hard.

Today I had a meal with your Aunt Jiang, she graduated from college and came back.

She’s sure to have opportunities to rise in the future. Jing Chu, you’re a girl, Dad hopes you can go to college and have a good future.”

”Dad, Aunt Jiang is back? My brother and I were just talking about Aunt Jiang. When can we go see her?”

”Wait a few days, tomorrow she’s going back to her hometown, and she starts work the day after tomorrow.”

”Okay, shall we visit Aunt Jiang the day after tomorrow?”

”Let’s wait a few more days, she’s sure to be very busy starting her new job.”

”Okay, Dad, remember to let me know about Aunt Jiang, I’ll go tell my brother.” Lv Jingchu hurriedly ran to her brother’s room.

Lv Beiguang went to the bathroom to take a shower, feeling a bit dizzy from drinking due to his mood today.

Lying on the bed, thoughts of Jiang Xinyu filled his mind. From the first moment he saw her, looking so stunningly at him, and how she happily interacted with everyone.

He thought most about those two months in Russia, seeing her every day, and finally realizing she wasn’t a girl who liked lively surroundings, preferring to stay inside all day. She was not as cheerful as she was in front of Secretary She.

After arriving in Russia, she was like a cheerful little mouse, busy during the day inspecting grains, and using all her spare time to go out.

At that time, he envied her youthful energy. Happiness came so easily to her.

The moment that moved him the most was when this little girl took on the great responsibility, he was subdued, watching her bravely negotiate with the Russian soldiers despite her fears.

Years have passed, yet he can still recall, her trembling as she spoke, eventually slipping them some money.

After returning to the country, even when she was sick, she let him and the plant manager rest while she alone watched over, even when so much grain was stolen, she thought of pressing the wood to hold down the grain.

He had heard of train robberies many times, and he and the two plant managers had said they would surely lose a lot of grain upon return because it’s impossible to keep watch.

With wood pressed on top, it was safe. When he heard her idea, his first reaction was to think how stupid he was not to have thought of it.

After ensuring safety, the girl fell ill, visibly losing weight, at that time he was truly afraid she wouldn’t make it, afraid of losing her.

He needed to see her every day, even just seeing her sickly lying there, to at least know she was alive.

Lv Beiguang rubbed his temples, feeling particularly tired, sleepy, yet unable to sleep.

After returning, he paid more attention to her, genuinely happy to see her recovered.

They kept in contact more after that. When they went to the seaside, her joyful appearance made him feel that happiness was indeed very simple.

She seems to have high standards for life. She didn’t mind spending more as long as it was good.

Despite the heat, despite the exhaustion, she kept giggling all the way.

When he found her to help arrange a job for that woman, he was a bit anxious, as a job in the textile factory was not easy to arrange, but she didn’t even hesitate. Was he happy at that time?

The day she helped him look after the children, seeing his relieved look made him for the first time dislike his two children in his heart.

He blamed the two children for being inconsiderate, making her worried.

After he married that woman, his mood was extremely low, constantly comforting himself that he wasn’t good enough for her from the start, and this was just as well to stop the unrealistic thoughts.

But after the divorce, when the two children expressed their liking for her and said they would accept her as their mother, his dormant heart was revived.

But then she went to college. The purpose of the letter he wrote to her, he finally acknowledged now, was that he wanted a chance.

When she returned this time and he saw she had two children, his mood was terrible. But when he heard she was alone, he was excited, wasn’t he?

Does he still have a chance? He doesn’t know, but somehow, he couldn’t help eating the food she couldn’t finish.

Even knowing it would cause misunderstandings, he did it anyway.

Escorting her back, he really didn’t know what to say, the journey was too short, leaving him speechless as they arrived and he could only watch her enter helplessly.

Returning and seeing his daughter’s behavior made him very happy, the kids still liked her very much, and that was enough.

If he really had the chance to become a family with her, that would be best. Jing Chu and Guodong are already grown up, and he would treat her two children as his own.
