Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

”Mm, I understand.”

The two children listened from the side, both extremely worried about their mother.

Jiang Xinyu looked up and smiled at her two children, soothing their emotions.

”Sister She, I know you’re doing this for my own good, I understand. Even for the sake of my two kids, I’d do this.”

”Alright, it’s best that you’ve come to terms with it. You don’t know how scary rumors can be.

Bring the two kids along for dinner tomorrow evening, let everyone meet them.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded with a smile, ”Sure, my uncle hasn’t arrived yet, so I have to take them wherever I go.”

”When do you start work?”

”I report on the 20th.”

”You can send the kids to the Red Education Class.”

”My uncle has been helping with the kids, Shi Jing and Feifei both don’t want to go to school, so let them stay home for now.”

”As long as someone is watching them.”

Jiang Xinyu looked at the time, it was getting late, ”Sister She, let’s head back, we need to go to Sister Ailing’s place tonight. She doesn’t know I’m back yet.”

”Alright, let’s go back, I’ll make some snacks for the kids.”

Shi Jing stood up ”Aunt She, we don’t like sweets, thank you, Aunt She.”

”Alright, then Aunt She will give you some peanuts instead.”

”Sister She, that’s more than enough for them to eat for a while, too much and it’s too oily, not tasty.”

”Sister She, where can I buy a small seat cushion, I didn’t bring one back from over there.”

”The supply and marketing cooperative has them, they just arrived. It’s at the bicycle counter, come on, I’ll go with you.”

She Xiaoyun also helped secure the small seat, placing her own cushion on it, so Feifei sat in the front and Shi Jing sat in the back.

After Niang San returned home, Jiang Xinyu hurriedly prepared lunch, steaming egg custard, rice, and pork stir-fried with eggplant.

”Mom, will we start living here after this?”

”Yes, this is Mommy’s home, and in five days Mommy will start work. The day after tomorrow I’ll take you back to Mommy’s hometown to see, so you can see Mommy’s home.”

”Mom, where are your parents?”

”They have both passed away, you are still too young, it’s not good to visit them now. When you’re older, Mommy will take you to burn paper money for them.”

After lunch, Niang San washed up and prepared for an afternoon nap.

After Jiang Xinyu left with the two children, She Xiaoyun felt a bit uncomfortable. This silly girl, why have a second one after Shi Jing? Who exactly is that man? The two children’s fathers are not the same?

Thinking about the rumors she was about to face, truly felt heartache for her. This silly girl.

After waking up from the nap, Jiang Feifei sat beside Jiang Xinyu, ”Mom, has Dad arrived?”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head, ”Not yet, traveling by train takes two days and two nights.”

The little girl nodded, then went back to flipping through the small comic book in her hand.

”Feifei, do you want to go out and play?”

”Mom, it’s too hot outside, let’s stay in the house.”

”How about you, Shi Jing?”

”I’ll stay home too.”

”You’ll have playmates by tonight.”

The siblings weren’t really looking forward to the playmates their mom mentioned. They didn’t like little kids who just cry and make noise.

Jiang Xinyu brought out the fabric to make clothes and shoes for the two kids.

Having cut them all out, she sliced a large bowl of watermelon, letting the two kids rest for a bit, fearing for their eyesight.

”Mom, you have some too.”

”You eat first, Feifei, do you want a skirt or pants?”

”Mom, I want pants too, I don’t like skirts.”

”Why not?”

”They’re inconvenient.”

Jiang Xinyu looked at her pretty daughter, feeling a little worried inside. Have I raised a tomboy instead of the lady I’d hoped for?

But since her daughter wants pants, pants it is.

By the time it was half-past five, Jiang Xinyu packed up the items she was bringing for Wang Ailing. Niang San set out at six o’clock.

Wang Ailing was already home, but Chen Guoliang hadn’t returned yet from picking up the girl.

”Sister.”

At first, Wang Ailing didn’t notice and only reacted after a few seconds. Turning around, she suddenly saw Jiang Xinyu smiling at her.

But what about the two kids in the car?

”Xinyu, you’ve finally returned? When did you get home?”

”I got home yesterday.”

”Come in quickly.”

Wang Ailing didn’t ask anything, she walked over and picked up Shi Jing.

Jiang Xinyu propped the bicycle, looking at the two bags on the handlebars, ”Sister, take the bags over.” Then she held Feifei as she got off the bike.

At this time, Chen’s parents also came out. They still remembered Jiang Xinyu and greeted her warmly.

”Uncle and aunt, long time no see, you’re both still in such good health.”

”We’ve aged, Xinyu, come in and sit.”

”Aunt, no need, it’s cooler outside.

Shi Jing, Feifei, greet Grandpa Chen and Grandma Chen.”

The two children smiled sweetly and obediently greeted them.

”So good, these two kids are really good. Xinyu, these two kids are so lovable.”

At this moment, a little boy ran out of the house and hugged Wang Ailing’s leg, curiously looking at the three strangers in front of him.

”Chen Liangyu, these are the Xinyu aunt I often told you about, say hello.”

The little guy smiled innocently, he was tanned, and with this smile, you could see a row of white teeth. ”Aunt.”

Jiang Xinyu squatted down, ”Liangyu, come to Aunt.”

The little guy wasn’t shy, he smiled and held Jiang Xinyu’s hand.

”Liangyu, this is brother, this is sister.”

The little guy just smiled, winning Shi Jing and Feifei’s favor.

They both held Liangyu’s hand separately.

”Brother, sister!”

”Little brother Liangyu.”

”Brother, sister, I’ll take you to see the little rabbits I raised, they’re really pretty.”

The three kids hand in hand went to the corner of the yard.

”Xinyu, what’s in the bag?”

”This bag has food for the two kids and Uncle Chen and Aunt Chen.

The other bag has enamelware, plates, and cups, a teapot, they’re really pretty. Also some local specialties, chili peppers, and Sichuan peppers.”

Wang Ailing didn’t bother with the food but opened the bag with the beautiful enamelware that Jiang Xinyu mentioned.

Looking inside, ”Xinyu, these patterns are so beautiful.”

”Aren’t they? I really like them too.”

”Xinyu, you girls can chat, I’ll go make some food, how about we have cold noodles?”

”Sure, thank you, Aunt Chen.”

”No need to be polite, this is your sister’s home.”

”Mom?”

Chen Guoliang had returned after picking up his daughter, seeing Jiang Xinyu in the yard.

”Director Jiang is back?”

”Brother-in-law.”

”Chen Xiangting, this is your Aunt Jiang Xinyu.”

”Aunt.”

”Xiangting, come to Aunt, what a beautiful little girl.”

Chen Liangyu heard his sister’s voice and ran over immediately. Shi Jing and his siblings also followed.

”Come, Shi Jing, Feifei, this is your uncle, and this is your sister.”
