Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Wei Kaiyun kept an eye on Niang San, and after hearing their conversation, hurriedly went to prepare the water. The water sunbathing outside wasn’t suitable for bathing, it was still cold, so he had heated two thermos flasks of hot water in the morning.

The couple first took care of the two children for their baths. Wei Kaiyun carried them out one by one, leaving Jiang Xinyu to take her bath carefully.

When she came out, it was already two o’clock. Shang Zhenkun had also taken a shower, and everyone was waiting for her to eat.

”Sorry, let’s eat quickly.”

The two kids ate a few more bites than usual because it was so late for lunch.

”Feifei, Shi Jing, how’s the food?”

”Dad, the pepper meat is delicious. I like this,” Shi Jing said, nodding as he ate.

”Great, as long as you like it. After you finish eating, I’ll take you out to play.”

”Xiao Wei, let me take the kids out for a walk. I have two friends here, let’s take them to meet them. It wouldn’t be good not to recognize them when we meet later.”

”Master Shang, are they all your friends?”

”Yes.”

”Then I’ll prepare some gifts, it’s not appropriate to go empty-handed.”

”Okay.” Shang Zhenkun thought and nodded.

”Master Shang, how about going tomorrow? I’ll go out and prepare some nice things. It’s not easy for you to come back and meet friends.”

”Xiao Jiang, you’d better stay put. Don’t go out, just prepare some cigarettes and alcohol, that’ll be enough.”

Wei Kaiyun immediately chimed in, ”Leave the cigarettes and alcohol to me, I’ll go find them. I’ll deliver the car this afternoon and bring them back directly.”

Jiang Xinyu wanted the kids to rest for half a day, fearing they’d get tired, not intending to do anything else.

After the family had their fill, Wei Kaiyun sat in the hall with the kids, chatting. Every call was always rushed; this time he was really there with them, basking in a sweet feeling.

Initially, he wanted to hold Feifei, but his daughter rejected him, and he felt a bit hurt inside.

But listening to the children’s innocent chatter about the trip, especially about Feifei being taken by a bad person, Wei Kaiyun’s eyes turned red.

”Master Shang, where did the trafficker get off the bus?”

Shang Zhenkun looked at Wei Kaiyun and knew what he was getting at, so he gave him the address.

By three o’clock, the two kids were a bit tired, so Shang Zhenkun took them to sleep.

”Master Shang, let Feifei sleep with me, you go rest with Shi Jing.”

”Okay, Xiao Wei, where will we be staying?”

”Master Shang, you and Shi Jing will stay in the side room. I’ve already tidied it up.”

Wei Kaiyun took the father and son to their room, then returned and carried Jiang Feifei into the east room. The little girl’s eyelids wouldn’t open anymore; she lay on the pillow, moved a bit, found a comfortable position, and fell asleep instantly.

Wei Kaiyun grabbed his long-missed wife, eagerly sought her lips, and kissed her passionately.

Jiang Xinyu embraced him back, which made Wei Kaiyun unable to control himself, picked her up, and headed towards the west room.

”Not like this, wait until the evening, not now. Be good.”

At this moment, how could Wei Kaiyun listen to her? Within a few steps, they reached the west room, closed the door behind them, and got on the kang bed, pulling the curtains closed.

With one hand holding her, he pulled down the mattress with the other hand, then sat down, and Jiang Xinyu sat on his lap.

”Honey, I can’t wait any longer. I can’t wait any longer.”

The affair lasted an hour before ending, with Wei Kaiyun hugging the sweat-drenched Jiang Xinyu, his hands still restless.

”Hurry and return the car, prepare the cigarettes and alcohol,” Jiang Xinyu pushed him, as the man didn’t seem to know when to stop.

Wei Kaiyun really didn’t want to get up, didn’t want to leave his wife. At that moment, he wished he could stick to her all day, but the kids would soon wake, and it wasn’t early; he’d have plenty of time in the evening.

After finding an excuse for himself, he reluctantly got up, but not before taking his wife with him, kissing her for a while longer before unwillingly getting dressed.

Getting dressed while watching his wife, with her slightly trembling hands dress herself, he felt particularly satisfied. The man’s vanity was greatly satisfied.

Jiang Xinyu got dressed, gave a glance at Wei Kaiyun, who was laughing mischievously below.

After tidying up the beddings on the kang, she pulled open the curtains, then got down.

”Hurry up, and don’t come back late tonight. What do you want to eat tonight?”

”Anything is fine,” Wei Kaiyun said with a smile.

After Wei Kaiyun left, Jiang Xinyu locked the main door, moved the water sunbathing outside into the bathroom, took another bath, and came out.

The kids had been asleep for an hour and a half, they couldn’t continue sleeping, or they’d be uncomfortable at night.

”Feifei, wake up, wake up. Do you want to take a bath? The water outside is quite hot now.”

The little girl opened her eyes and smiled at her mom.

Jiang Xinyu prepared a basin of water for her, where the little girl could sit and play for a while.

At this moment, Shang Zhenkun and Jiang Shijing came out as well.

Jiang Xinyu wrapped up her daughter, carried her back to the room, and dressed her in a sleeveless vest and shorts she had made, then prepared the bathwater for Shi Jing.

”Master Shang, I’m going out to buy some groceries. I’ll be back shortly.”

”Okay, be careful.”

”Got it,” Jiang Xinyu turned to the kitchen to see what Wei Kaiyun had prepared.

There were all sorts of seasonings, over ten pounds of rice, more than ten pounds of white flour, and soybean oil as well. Now she knew what they needed.

Jiang Xinyu went around the supply and marketing cooperative, but since it was afternoon, there wasn’t much available. Then, carrying a basket, she sneaked a three-pound piece of meat, brown sugar, white sugar, noodles, a few cucumbers, a few eggplants, potatoes, some beans, green onions, and a handful of chives inside. That’s all she could manage.

Upon returning home, Shang Zhenkun was reciting poetry with the two kids.

”You’re back?”

”Yes, I bought meat. What do you guys want to eat?”

On such a hot day, nobody had much of an appetite, but they were delighted to have meat.

”Mom, how about we have meat buns?”

”Sure, let’s just add a bit of chives.”

Jiang Xinyu went to the kitchen to start making the dough, using yeast directly as there was no starter dough, this would be quicker.

After making the dough, she hurriedly chopped a large piece of meat, pounding away in the kitchen.

Once all was prepared, she went to light the iron stove, first boiling a pot of millet porridge with a clay pot, which would be left to cool for dinner.

It was already five o’clock, and the two kids were playing in the yard. Seeing that the dough had risen, Jiang Xinyu began preparing buns.

Wei Kaiyun drove straight back to the textile factory. After handing over the car keys to Lu Weiqi, he sat down to make a call.

He had already prepared the cigarettes and alcohol, asking Lu Weiqi to drive to pick them up.

Then he dialed a friend’s number.

”Sun Qiang, it’s Wei Kaiyun.”

”What wind blew you to call me today? I must set off fireworks to celebrate when I get back.”
