Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Han Jianbin saw his mother’s expression, what else was there he didn’t understand?

So he sat down beside his father, also looking at his mother, waiting for her answer.

”Jianbin, you’ll suffer if you stay with mom, you’d better stay here.”

Neither father nor son spoke, and Han Xiangjun hadn’t given any money.

Yu Xiaoli understood, they were dissatisfied with her answer.

”Jianbin, if you follow me, you’ll only be a burden to me.”

”Mom, are you saying you don’t want me?”

”Yes, I want to live my own life, to be with someone I like.”

”So you can just abandon me?”

”Your birth has been a stain on my life.”

This made Han Jianbin completely lose hope. ”Dad, give her the money and let her leave.”

”Alright, Yu Xiaoli, pack your things and never set foot here again. If I find out you contact Jianbin, you know what I’m capable of.”

Yu Xiaoli shivered in fear. When her son was two years old, she couldn’t resist her longing and wanted to find her lover, but she was brought back by two men before she arrived. Han Xiangjun made her witness a scene of punishment. It was such a fright that she had nightmares. In all these years, despite her longing, she never dared to go out again. She immediately got up and went back to her room.

Han Xiangjun patted his son’s shoulder.

”Dad, I’m alright, I’ve come to terms with it.”

Han Xiangjun smiled, that foolish woman, looking for her happiness? With that irresponsible man?

He wanted to see, now that the man had a family, what would Yu Xiaoli do?

He had never been a good person, how could he let them have an easy life?

The father and son sat in the living room waiting. After a while, Yu Xiaoli came out with a leather bag.

”Even if you leave something behind, this is not a place you can come back to,” Han Xiangjun said, handing her three thousand yuan.

Yu Xiaoli had never seen so much money before. She took it and stuffed it into her bag without looking back, never glancing at the son she had given birth to.

”Jianbin, go take a shower, we need to rest. From now on, we’re moving out, just the two of us.

And I don’t want you to have any contact with her.”

”Dad, I understand, after how she’s treated me, what else can I do?”

”As long as you understand. Let’s go, we’re moving tomorrow.”

Han Xiangjun lay in bed, feeling both bitterness and relief without someone beside him.

Why had he tolerated her for so many years?

He thought for a while, then self-mockingly smiled, perhaps it was because of the base nature of men. He liked beautiful women.

Now it’s fine, no worries for the future.

All these years, he felt he had been living like a bachelor. If it weren’t for his son, he probably wouldn’t have come back at all.

After Yu Xiaoli left, she felt scared, shouldn’t have ventured out at night. Where could she go in this darkness?

But she didn’t have the courage to knock and return, so she curled up at the doorstep, thankful it was summer.

In the middle of the night, with a sudden thunderstorm, Yu Xiaoli was frightened and knocked on the door hard.

She had been spoiled; in these eight years, she hadn’t quite lived like a princess but hadn’t had a hard life either.

So she still had the mindset of a child, afraid of thunder.

Han Xiangjun woke up, ”Who is it?”

”It’s me, I’m scared, can I leave in the morning?”

Han Xiangjun opened the door, ”You can stay in the annex for the night.”

He said this and bolted the main door, then went back inside alone.

Yu Xiaoli went into the annex, which was filled with grain and tools, with no place to sleep.

Having not suffered in these years, she hated Han Xiangjun in her heart.

Soon, the wind howled and heavy raindrops began to fall.

Wei Kaiyun, holding Jiang Xinyu tightly, said, ”It’s raining, hurry up and close the windows and turn off the fan.”

”I’m not done yet.”

After ten minutes, Wei Kaiyun put on shorts and went next door to check on the children.

He came back, wiped his body with a towel, and lay down holding Jiang Xinyu.

”Wife, isn’t it uncomfortable to hold on such a cool night?”

”Go away, it’s uncomfortable.”

Listening to his wife’s coy complaints, Wei Kaiyun felt particularly at ease, kissing her back softly.

After a while, their breathing picked up pace.

It rained all night outside, and inside, Wei Kaiyun teased Jiang Xinyu until midnight.

The next morning, the rain hadn’t stopped, Jiang Xinyu’s biological clock woke her at 6:30. She wanted to turn over but felt sore all over; this guy had no restraint.

Wei Kaiyun, sensing movement, opened his eyes, smiled, and pecked her lips lightly.

”The kids should be waking up.”

”Yeah, I’ll go check on them.” Wei Kaiyun went to see, and the two kids were still asleep; in the cool weather, they rarely slept so soundly.

After Wei Kaiyun left, Jiang Xinyu got up, feeling sticky all over, she had to shower.

”Wife, where are you going?”

”I’m going to shower, you go boil water for me.”

By the time Jiang Xinyu finished showering, the two children were awake too.

”Shi Jing, Feifei, how about sesame paste pancakes and millet porridge?”

”Don’t bother, wife, I’ll go buy some outside.”

”Dad, can my sister and I go with you, can we eat outside?”

”We can go out for lunch. Now isn’t a good time, I’m not sure if the restaurants outside are open.”

”You three better stay put, hurry and cook the porridge.”

The three exchanged looks, and no one mentioned going out again.

Wei Kaiyun went to the kitchen and cooked millet porridge. Jiang Xinyu mixed shredded cucumber, and with the pancakes, it made a pretty good breakfast.

After eating, the two kids sat aside looking at picture books. The rain had already stopped outside.

”Dad, will Brother Jianbin come today?”

”Not sure, he might come.”

Meanwhile, the father and son saw that there wasn’t a grain left in the annex, ”Jianbin, now you know what kind of person she truly is.”

”Dad, I’ll be careful from now on.”

”Let’s go eat outside, today we’re moving out.

You just need to bring your clothes; everything else we need is there.”

”Okay, Dad, are we going to Aunt Jiang’s house today?”

”If you want to go, I’ll take you there, and I’m moving house today too.”

The father and son finished breakfast and took two trays of meat buns to Wei Kaiyun’s house.

The three kids immediately gathered, ”Shi Jing, Feifei, we brought meat buns for you, try them, they’re very delicious.”

It’d been an hour since they ate, so each had two more.

”Delicious, very tasty.”

Han Xiangjun, putting the children down, said, ”Xiao Wei, I’ll come to pick up Jianbin tonight.”

”Sure, if you’re busy, just let him stay here. Also, have a familiar construction team come over, all three houses need major renovations.”
