System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Dr. Han Rong said they came all the way from Ji City in Qianzhou.”

Lu Cheng was quite surprised and said, ”Dr. Zeng, please help write a treatment plan. We need to schedule the surgery quickly... I’ll go out to check the situation.”

The young couple was taken aback by what Tian Zhuang and Lu Cheng said, exchanging puzzled looks!

For a moment, they even suspected that Tian Zhuang and Lu Cheng were actors brought in by Zeng Huanqi to persuade them to have the surgery in Long County.

After all, it seemed too coincidental that just when they were considering going to the State People’s Hospital, someone from Ji City would specifically come to Long County for surgery?

However, Tian Zhuang was holding a medical record book, and the cover clearly showed it was from the Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture People’s Hospital.

It’s unlikely someone would sever a tendon just to collaborate with Lu Cheng and Tian Zhuang for two thousand yuan of acting, right?

After Lu Cheng and Tian Zhuang left the room, the young woman asked Zeng Huanqi, ”Dr. Zeng, what’s going on here?”

Zeng Huanqi finally calmed down and said, ”To be honest, our colleague Dr. Lu Cheng is indeed a doctor at our hospital, but he has a unique skill in handling tendon sutures.”

”We’ve had several patients specifically referred here from Ji City, as well as from Long County.”

”Of course, the State People’s Hospital is our superior hospital, and they can handle tendon issues quite well over there too.”

”That’s a hundred percent true.”

Zeng Huanqi wasn’t exaggerating or being modest; he appropriately praised Lu Cheng’s capabilities.

”Dr. Zeng, are you saying that what Dr. Lu just mentioned, that his surgical quality is on par with the orthopedic department in the State People’s Hospital, is not just politeness or boasting?” The young man looked a bit surprised.

Zeng Huanqi chuckled wryly, unwilling to engage in tit-for-tat with the couple: ”If Dr. Lu were to speak the truth, he’d say he does it even better than they do.”

”But we can’t boast like that; it’s hard to compare specific levels between different hospitals, and we haven’t compared directly.”

”Anyway, that’s the situation. You can choose based on your judgment.”

”If you trust Dr. Lu, have the surgery here; if not, you can go to the State Hospital.”

”But you need to decide quickly. If someone outside has already had their talk and signed first for the operating room, you’ll have to wait.”

”Regardless of where it’s done, the risks remain the same.”

The young man asked, ”How long do we have to wait?”

”Usually between one to two hours,” Zeng Huanqi replied.

The young woman said, ”Let’s not think too much, let’s sign. After all, it’s over a thousand cheaper, and if we go over, with travel and food expenses, it adds up to over two thousand.”

The young man comforted his wife softly, ”It’s not just about the money; it’s mainly about the surgery being done well.”

”This will help with your recovery after the surgery...”

While they were still struggling, Lu Cheng had already completed the pre-surgery discussion and signatures.

Dr. Han Rong from the Respiratory Department said, ”Dr. Lu, I’m counting on you to do a good job with the surgery.”

”My dad hurt his hand while preparing baby food for my brother’s child, and my brother is actually an orthopedic surgeon himself, but he doesn’t do hand surgeries, so he insisted on bringing them over...”

”Dr. Han, I really don’t deserve this. There might have been a misunderstanding that caused your parents to travel all this way.”

Lu Cheng replied quickly, ”If there aren’t other issues here, please take your father to the emergency surgery room. It’s getting late, and we should start as soon as possible.”

Lu Cheng didn’t know which department Dr. Han from the State People’s Hospital belonged to in Han Rong’s circle.

Dr. Han looked at Lu Cheng curiously, saying, ”My brother mentioned you had previously done surgery on a patient with multiple tendon injuries who then went to the State People’s Hospital for a follow-up.”

”Their hand surgery department ended up reopening and re-stitching it, but the results weren’t great. There’s a difference in functionality between the sides, and now it’s a legal headache.”

Lu Cheng paused, replying, ”Oh, that patient went to the State Hospital later for rehabilitation!”

Nurse Deng Zhouzhou was busy guiding people, saying, ”Dr. Han, the emergency surgery room is this way, and for these kinds of situations, we usually perform nerve block anesthesia. Our head nurse has already informed the operating room, and Director Tian Chao from the emergency anesthesia department will personally handle the block anesthesia...”

Dr. Han turned to lead his father, saying, ”Dr. Lu, I’m heading over. Thank you for your effort.”

Lu Cheng glanced at the direction of Zeng Huanqi from afar, saying, ”Dr. Zeng, I’ll go sterilize and drape first. Once you’re done here, come, but no rush.”

Zeng Huanqi nodded, quickly getting back to writing medical opinions.

No matter what the couple decided, the order of surgeries would only be delayed.

It’s not a first-come, first-served!

It’s whoever has their talk and signs first before they enter the operating room, and that’s who goes first. People can’t wait just because you’re indecisive.

In the emergency department, specifically in the emergency surgical ward.

Liang Haobo supported his wife to sit down and then comforted her, saying, ”Don’t think too much; that Dr. Han Rong is definitely a doctor here, and the injured person she brought is indeed her father; they do share some resemblance.”

”I’ve already called Xiao Wei. She’ll get some toiletries for us later; let’s just wait for the surgery patiently.”

”They came all the way to Long County from Ji City, so waiting this bit of time won’t affect surgery quality.”

Chen Nanlan, Liang Haobo’s wife, looked up and said, ”Could you message Xiao Wei and ask her to bring some makeup remover and face wash for me too?”

”I’m not worried that Dr. Lu might be acting, just find the situation hard to believe.”

”Why would someone come all the way from Ji City to our Long County?” Chen Nanlan frowned, squeezing out crow’s feet.

While speaking, a woman in bed number 5 sat up straight: ”Miss, you haven’t had your surgery yet? I thought you just came over after having it.”

Both Chen Nanlan and Liang Haobo turned to look, discovering the woman in bed number 5 was wearing a hand splint, practicing grip exercises with her injured arm placed on her abdomen.

”My wife injured her hand while opening a durian. Ma’am, did Dr. Lu perform your surgery too?” Liang Haobo asked.

The woman shook her head: ”No, it would’ve been great if Dr. Lu had done mine. The day I got injured, Dr. Lu happened to be out for training.”

”My surgery was later done by Professor Tong from Xiangya Hospital. I was initially supposed to be in the orthopedic ward!”

”Professor Tong directed me to stay here instead.”

”I don’t have good luck. According to Professor Tong, my condition was quite severe, so the surgery took longer, and recovery is also slower.”

”When I first got admitted, other patients who had surgery by Dr. Lu were at the point where they could be discharged by now,” the woman sighed.

”Ma’am, where is Professor Tong now? You’re quite lucky, huh?” Liang Haobo and his wife sparked with interest.

The woman lifted her chin, saying, ”Professor Tong is in orthopedics. You think I’m lucky too, right? At first, I considered myself lucky, seeing as my surgery was done by a professor from Xiangya Hospital.”

”But later, I learned that Professor Tong said Dr. Lu had already mastered his techniques and even exceeded him, being young and more agile, possibly able to perform even more skillfully.”

”In this hospital, if it’s tendon rupture, you can’t go wrong with Dr. Lu!”

The woman smiled, ”Just make sure not to be casually taken to orthopedics.”

”Oh... we also went to orthopedics today, and the doctors there said they don’t do tendon sutures anymore,” Liang Haobo suddenly mentioned.

”No? That’s not possible; they were still doing it the day before yesterday!” the woman’s face expressed bewilderment.

”Why did they stop it?”

Liang Haobo said, ”I didn’t ask specifically.”

The woman couldn’t delve deeper into the reasons, so she laughed, ”You should just wait patiently for Dr. Lu to perform your surgery. Dr. Lu’s surgical skills are as handsome as he is rumored to be.”

”Alright, thank you, ma’am. After my wife comes out of the operating room, I have some questions to ask you,” Liang Haobo responded promptly.

”Oh, no need. Dr. Lu is very responsible, and when you’re done with the surgery, just don’t mind him being chatty.”

”Everyone’s recovery pace and form are different, so you can’t make comparisons. Just listen to Dr. Lu then.”

”Or tomorrow morning, Professor Tong will be here for rounds. You can ask him too.”

”He’s a professor from Xiangya Hospital, and his skills and dedication are top-notch. He visits daily for rounds and is very dedicated.” The woman said so.
