System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”I heard someone reported that the previous teacher had shown favoritism. Let me assure you in advance that I will not do such things.” Professor Lan Hualuo had an average build, slightly pale skin, and somewhat large earlobes.

Although he wasn’t very tall, his voice was full of energy. He wasn’t very old either, just around thirty-six or thirty-seven years old. After speaking, he focused his gaze on Lu Cheng.

However, Lu Cheng didn’t draw everyone’s attention; instead, Dong Qiaoshan and others instinctively looked at Xie Yuan’an.

She’s the one who could dine with the teachers.

Xie Yuan’an felt a bit tense from being stared at, her eyebrows arched like a high bridge, the curve sharply tilting upward. She swallowed: ”Why are you all looking at me? It wasn’t me who said it.”

Xie Yuan’an’s phoenix eyes looked distressed, a bit at a loss: ”I really didn’t say anything.”

”Really.” Her delicate heart-shaped face almost puffed into a round one, as she looked at Lu Cheng with sincere eyes.

Lan Hualuo clapped his hands: ”Alright, let’s officially start the class. This afternoon, we will study in great detail the flat mark practice method for neural epineurium suturing, followed by practical classes in rabbit nerve suturing...”

”The application of neural epineurium suturing is extremely extensive, including but not limited to limb replantation, nerve transposition, nerve grafting surgery, and functional reconstruction surgery.”

”The most fundamental basis of these high-end techniques is the Nerve Suturing Skill.”

”Next, I will give you a detailed introduction to the reference methods for learning this technique, which you can take home to ponder slowly.”

”As of now, using these methods, you can practice neural epineurium suturing to a very high level—enough to help you learn various techniques.”

Lan Hualuo did not explain in detail and directly moved on to the specifics of the class content.

After the class started, everyone’s attention shifted away from Xie Yuan’an.

However, only Xie Yuan’an remained absent-minded, her gaze occasionally flicking to Lu Cheng, as if pondering whether Lu Cheng misunderstood her...

The forty-five-minute theory class passed quickly, followed by the practical class.

After the practical class, Lan Hualuo headed directly to Xie Yuan’an and immediately started roasting: ”You weren’t paying attention in class, looking around—I thought you already knew everything?~”

”You don’t know this either?”

”Is this how you find the angle for punctuation practice? Who taught you this way? Tell me, I’ll go find them!~”

”If your basic skills are lacking and your learning attitude isn’t cautious, why are you wasting money here with such an attitude?”

”With that money, you could at least buy yourself something to eat and enjoy it.”

”Distance, distance, hand surgery emphasizes holding the scalpel like a pen, how can you hold a scalpel if you can’t even hold a pen properly?”

”First draw a line, display the direction of the needle insertion on the flat board first, direction...” Lan Hualuo’s roasting lasted five to six minutes, almost pushing Xie Yuan’an into a shell of silence.

Dong Qiaoshan chuckled lightly, finally understanding Lan Hualuo’s personality. First, he gave Xie Yuan’an a run for her money, using the Illusion Barrier Technique to disturb her mood, wondering if she would be thrown off by the ”misunderstanding.”

However, it hit right on target. The falsely accused Xie Yuan’an lost her focus on learning, perfectly setting the stage for Lan Hualuo to roast her.

Dong Qiaoshan didn’t enjoy his amusement for long, as Lan Hualuo reached him: ”Is it funny?”

Dong Qiaoshan looked up, expression astonished: ”At your age, sitting here to learn, and you’re laughing at your classmates?”

”She’s thirty-one, that one’s thirty, and you’re thirty-five, yet you were held back, you know that?”

”You, too, draw a line. Did you hear what was just taught to Xie Yuan’an?” Lan Hualuo unceremoniously launched into roasting as if preaching a doctrine of equality.

Dong Qiaoshan started drawing, quite skilled at it.

He looked at Lan Hualuo.

”Go, perform? Have you learned it all? If you’ve learned it all, go on to do functional reconstruction surgery!~”

”Just because you can draw lines doesn’t mean you’re idle now?” Lan Hualuo’s voice was sharp and pointed.

”All you know is drawing lines, direction control, direction...”

Not only were Xie Yuan’an and Dong Qiaoshan taken care of, but Lin Bin and the others didn’t escape either.

Lan Hualuo seized every opportunity to start roasting!~

Of course, the only difference was that his scolding towards Xie Yuan’an and Dong Qiaoshan was particularly intense, almost as if he were deliberately targeting them.

All the roasting took six to ten minutes per person, and another hour and a half had passed.

When Lan Hualuo finally reached Lu Cheng, it was already five-thirty in the afternoon.

Of course, Lan Hualuo didn’t spare Lu Cheng either, and directly began roasting: ”Your hand, hand, is too stiff. If your hand’s functionality isn’t flexible, how do you expect to rescue the patient’s function?”

”The hand shouldn’t be too stiff; the requirement is for your hand not to shake, not to make it rigid. Are you born with trigger fingers?”

”Have you made your hand useless while learning a surgery?”

Lu Cheng adjusted his operation mode, only then did Lan Hualuo’s tone ease a bit: ”That’s better—surgical operation requires fluid ease, operation at will, not deliberately fixing a muscle somewhere, making the hand maintain a specific position.”

”You have to practice the basic skill of raising your hand. After returning home, suspend a brick and continue performing actions like writing while keeping the hand steady. Only then will your basic skills be considered up to scratch.”

”Don’t be arrogant. Just because you’re young and your basic skills are decent doesn’t mean you should be arrogant. I already knew nerve transposition surgery at your age, and could perform functional reconstruction as well.”

”This amounts to nothing...”

Lu Cheng adjusted and continued his operation, but Lan Hualuo was still not satisfied: ”Don’t show off!!! Focus less on suturing techniques and skills, and instead focus on making your hand more agile.”

”Hand, draw a circle for me. As you draw circles with the scalpel, there should be no visible shakes under the microscope.”

Lu Cheng looked up in astonishment.

These are the most basic fundamental skills related to Suturing Skill fundamentals, not part of this class’s content.

How could one suddenly master basic skills?

”Don’t look at me!~ Are you questioning me?” While speaking, Lan Hualuo grabbed Lu Cheng’s scalpel.

Then he held it in his hand and began cutting circles on a paper under the microscope.

One A4 paper was cut into a perfect circle by Lan Hualuo, the movements smooth, operation exquisite.

That wasn’t all. Professor Lan Hualuo then drew a small circle inside the large one, cutting out a ring about 3mm wide.

Next, Lan Hualuo drew another circle, cutting out a ring about 4mm wide.

Setting down the scalpel, Lan Hualuo said: ”If you want to learn something, learn properly. Don’t be fixated on the specific forms or the basics of this one class’s content.”

”These things others couldn’t learn, but I see you have the ability, so I’m teaching you.”

”Do you want to learn or not? If not, just dismiss yourselves. Your nerve suturing basic mode is indeed commendable.” Lan Hualuo didn’t even look at Xie Yuan’an and others; he was so definitive.

”I want to learn, Teacher Lan, I want to learn.” Lu Cheng lowered his head, quickly answering.

”Then learn seriously, draw circles for me, first cut out a perfect circle. You need to practice this now. Once you can cut out dozens of perfect rings, that is the level of mastery you should achieve.”

”The operations of basic skills have similarities.”

”Before reaching that point, don’t count on truly mastering many techniques, as you can’t even find the threshold yet; discussing superficial techniques is pointless.” Lan Hualuo’s scolding loud as well.

After scolding for a bit, Lan Hualuo glanced again at Lu Cheng and asked: ”Hey, have we met before?”

Lu Cheng replied: ”Yes, Brother Luo... No, Teacher Lan, I... Lu Cheng, Orthopedics training class of ’15.”

Lu Cheng was an undergraduate from the 2010 class and stayed on at Zhongnan Hospital for postgrad training after graduating in ’15, when Lan Hualuo was completing his doctorate!

Later, he became the Chief Resident.

Only seven years have passed since, and now he’s a professor.

Lan Hualuo hesitated for just a second before letting Lu Cheng put down the scalpel: ”Then don’t draw anymore, come on... let’s go eat.”

”It’s almost time, class dismissed!~”

Everyone else looked up, expressions astonished, startled by this abrupt end to Lan the Roaster’s scolding session on Lu Cheng?!
