System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”You mean to say that Professor Tong Yuan’an extended the support period, but even Director Peng in orthopedics wasn’t aware of this?”

”Isn’t his position in the hospital rather awkward then?” In Room 2002 of Building 12 at Integrity Plaza, Mu Nanshu and Lu Cheng sat facing each other by the window.

A cup of green tea was placed in front of Lu Cheng, while Mu Nanshu had a bottle of soda water, which he sipped slowly after speaking.

The night lights outside were dim, and the incandescent light at home cast their silhouettes on the floor-to-ceiling window, like drinking under the moon.

”I don’t know about these things, but what comes to mind is that Director Peng Haibo is the orthopedic director because the hospital needs one.”

”It’s not that because he is the orthopedic director of Long County, the orthopedic department of Long County People’s Hospital becomes better.”

”This position itself carries some power, but this power doesn’t belong solely to Director Peng Haibo.”

”At least not permanently.” When Lu Cheng was in orthopedics, he just didn’t have the chance to perform surgeries, which doesn’t mean Lu Cheng couldn’t understand the affairs in the County Hospital.

People like Peng Haibo have benefited from the times; in their era, as long as you were willing to study, you generally had a good future.

But with the development of the times, Long County People’s Hospital is also developing.

There are also those with master’s degrees. People with education, ability, and connections are increasing. If people like Peng Haibo don’t keep up with the times, they’ll eventually be phased out.

The more society develops, the more refined the division of resources becomes! If you don’t have certain abilities and strengths, you’ll be out sooner or later.

”And what about you? Will this matter affect you in any way?” Mu Nanshu asked.

”It’s hard to say yet if it will have any impact. But regardless of the impact, I can’t stay for a long time.”

”As you said, our county simply doesn’t have the conditions for scientific research, there’s no such thing as a laboratory.”

”During our time in Long County, we all have to go to the state to find a laboratory to conduct preliminary research for applying for a project.”

”My task is simply to learn some techniques properly, use those techniques to work responsibly, and support the patients who need my technical assistance.” Lu Cheng’s mindset was stable.

Lu Cheng didn’t feel that Peng Haibo and Peng Kun were wronged. In fact, given Peng Kun’s family background and ability, if Peng Kun had true talent and strength, he could have stayed at a top-tier hospital.

The conditions were sufficient, so if he didn’t advance himself, who could he blame?

There are plenty of people who started lower than Peng Kun, and it’s obvious that Peng Haibo couldn’t take care of Peng Kun for a lifetime.

In front of Lu Cheng, Peng Haibo is certainly a mountain he cannot surpass at the moment.

But in front of others, Peng Haibo is just an orthopedic director, and as for who Peng Kun is, they don’t know and wouldn’t care even if they did.

As they spoke, his mother Tian Hui sent a video call.

Lu Cheng picked up his phone to show Mu Nanshu, who didn’t shy away and simply took another slow sip from his bottle of water.

”Son, have you eaten dinner?” Tian Hui’s face filled half the video screen,

She was in Lu Cheng’s hometown, in a two-story self-built house.

”I’ve already eaten, now I’m at Uncle Mu’s place having some fruit.” Lu Cheng turned the camera to Mu Nanshu.

”Aunt Tian, good evening... You haven’t rested yet?” Mu Nanshu put down her water bottle, saying sweetly.

”We’re just about to rest. Xiao Shu, you’re back? When did you come back? Come over for dinner in a couple of days.” Tian Hui quickly said.

”I just came back yesterday, Aunt Tian. I’ll come visit you in a couple of days and go grocery shopping with you,” Mu Nanshu said confidently, having known Tian Hui for many years.

”There’s no need, you young people tend to your own matters, I can buy groceries... Mainly because your Uncle Lu and I went back to our hometown for a wedding banquet today... Otherwise, you could have come over today.”

”Aunt will make your favorite beef and tofu shreds.” Tian Hui explained.

”Aunt Tian, it’s the same if we have it in a couple of days...”

”It’s a bit noisy here... Xiao Shu, what did you just say?” Tian Hui changed her position, moving away from the noise of a funeral procession.

Mu Nanshu chatted with Tian Hui for nearly twenty minutes before ending the call.

Lu Cheng and Tian Hui only talked for twenty seconds.

Of course, Lu Cheng didn’t find this strange. He put down the phone and said, ”Book Bag, if we want to formally tackle the Tendon Suturing Technique project, isn’t the procedure quite complicated?”

”Of course it is complicated. Firstly, the project must be approved by the ethics committee before animal and clinical trials can be conducted, and naturally, it also has to pass hospital approval procedures.”

”Naturally, the clinical surgeon also has a certain degree of autonomy, so it’s not that cumbersome. The most pressing issue now is funding, money.”

”We must secure money to do the project!” Mu Nanshu emphasized the importance of the situation.

”Even if you’re willing to advance the funds, the part you’ve advanced now cannot be reimbursed from the project funding to fill the gap.”

At this point, Mu Nanshu glanced at Lu Cheng and said, ”So, if I hadn’t come back with you, this project would most likely be taken by Professor Tong Yuan’an, with you as the first author and him as the corresponding author.”

Mu Nanshu had previously given Lu Cheng a general overview of project collaboration, so Lu Cheng said, ”So now what we need to do is to use some of Professor Tong’s funding for preliminary experiments, and then use the results of these preliminary experiments to apply for the project, and then use the project funding to conduct more animal and clinical trials?”

”Exactly!” Mu Nanshu nodded.
