System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”The study session starts on Wednesday afternoon, the 16th, and ends at noon on Sunday, the 20th. A total of four days, eight major lessons.”

”The afternoon of the 16th is a theoretical class, primarily to share our hospital’s insights into nerve suturing and basic human anatomy with everyone!~”

”The 17th consists of two basic anatomy classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, where teachers will guide you in the study of fundamental anatomy of the upper and lower limbs. We have specially invited two body instructors for these two lessons.”

”Each student will have the opportunity to personally engage in hands-on learning!”

”The 18th is an animal physiology experiment course, mainly focusing on explanations and practice of basic techniques in nerve suturing, including epineurium, fascicles, and epineurium-fascicles combined suturing.”

”On the 19th, there will be two teaching surgeries, and the morning of the 20th will be the graduation summary...”

After Xie Yuan’an finished speaking, she added, ”The morning classes start at nine o’clock, so please try to arrive by eight thirty. The afternoon sessions begin at two thirty, so please aim to arrive by two o’clock.”

”I will temporarily provide everyone with a briefing on the syllabus of each major course, so we can all learn together.”

”Does anyone have any questions?”

Dong Qiaoshan didn’t know Xie Yuan’an but had heard of her, so he directly asked, ”Teacher Xie, we only have six students, could you allocate more learning opportunities for them?”

Body instructors are the hardest to invite; money alone can’t get them.

This was Dong Qiaoshan’s initial intention for coming.

Xie Yuan’an replied, ”That’s not feasible. Even though several teachers will share what’s left over, there still won’t be enough. But we will do our utmost to meet everyone’s learning needs; each of you will have the chance to perform a complete individual limb dissection.”

Just kidding, six students and she takes one, and the other professors only have one limb to divide among themselves. They still need to split what’s left.

You, Dong Qiaoshan, have a national face, so you just have a big face, don’t you?

”Okay, thank you, Teacher, I have no more questions,” said Dong Qiaoshan.

To surgeons, especially orthopedic surgeons, a hand or leg from a body instructor is a treasured asset.

Some orthopedic surgeons go to great lengths, traveling thousands of miles to acquire the opportunity to study a hand or forearm.

Xie Yuan’an concluded, ”Since everyone has no questions, let’s have Professor Zhong Junyun from our hospital along with Professor Xie Xiao open the ceremony for this training session. Let’s give them a round of applause...”

Dong Qiaoshan is the deputy chief physician at the Provincial People’s Hospital, about to be promoted to associate professor, but compared to the senior figures like Professor Zhong and Professor Xie, even the director of their hand surgery department pales in comparison.

He immediately sat upright and started clapping properly.

Professor Zhong Junyun and Professor Xie Xiao entered, with Professor Zhong Junyun, the eminent figure in hand surgery in E Province, taking the lead.

Tall and imposing, with an extraordinary presence, he officially welcomed the arrival of Lu Cheng and others, noting that they’ve prepared comprehensive content for this session, hoping everyone will gain something valuable in the following time.

Finally, Zhong Junyu introduced the ’class director’ Xie Yuan’an and the ’counselor’ Professor Xie Xiao for this training session.

The ’class director’ is responsible for managing daily class affairs, while the counselor is the nominal supervisor of the class and coordinates schedules with teachers.

With his busy schedule, Professor Zhong Junyun stayed for less than five minutes before departing again, his footsteps steady, mixing grace with sharpness even at nearing sixty.

Contrasting with Professor Zhong Junyun’s commanding yet approachable aura, Professor Xie Xiao appeared rather affable.

Short and slightly plump, his smile likened him to a kindly old man, while his long bangs covered his half-bald head, which he adjusted while speaking:

”First of all, I want to thank every student for trusting us with this advanced training session, spending time, effort, and money to learn here. I hope our program will reciprocate your trust, yielding great success for everyone.”

”The standard of this training session is very high; I’ve requested for ages to get Professor Zhong Junyun to agree to teach.”

”While you may be familiar with Professor Zhong Junyun, allow me to briefly introduce him to the students. Let’s put it this way, he is the Chair of the Hand Surgery Division for E Province, and the Vice Chair of the National Hand Surgery Division.”

”Across the nation, he’s among top-tier professors, and this time around, the training session is a genuine technical study, not a superficial academic conference; our study material bridges the gap between books and real-world application.”

”We’ll be delving into actual clinical cases, including two teaching surgeries typifying nerve damage...”

”Next, there’s Professor Lan from Zhongnan Hospital. You may not be very familiar with him, but you’re well acquainted with Professor Liu, aren’t you?”

”Despite his youth, Professor Lan has been unanimously recognized by both Professor Zhong and Professor Liu as a rising star who might soon surpass Professor Zhong, becoming the leading figure in hand surgery nationally...”

”Professor Lan’s credentials are quite extensive. If interested, you can search for them; no need for an elaborate explanation from me.”

”As for myself, I’m just an ordinary hand surgeon, not as distinguished as other teachers, striving to clearly convey what I know is my utmost capability...”

”Not much remains hidden; each student may take a short break before preparing for class.”

Dong Qiaoshan and others immediately started applauding, with Dong Qiaoshan raising his chin to ask, ”Teacher, could we invite some of the teachers for a meal sometime? Mainly to express our gratitude.”

Dong Qiaoshan’s request was reasonable, but Xie Xiao smiled softly, ”Let’s not discuss that yet; it’s only after class ends that we become colleagues. We’ve started the session, so we must adhere to certain standards.”

”Xie Yuan’an, I’ll leave it to you next, make sure the theories and basic principles are well-explained...”

”The ones sitting here aren’t outsiders or novices; if the material’s laughed off, someone might challenge you.” Xie Xiao directly motivated Xie Yuan’an.

Xie Yuan’an tightened her expression slightly, her tone formal: ”Director Xie, I guarantee to complete the task.”

...

Xie Yuan’an’s lecture style didn’t differ much from regular teaching hospitals; it’s just that the content was deeper, with theories explained more thoroughly.

Based on Union Hospital’s many years of theoretical accumulation in hand surgery, delivering comprehensible insights—

”The essence of suturing skill is the surgical reconstruction of life order on a microscopic scale!”

”Please pay attention to my wording, reconstructing life order, with emphasis on reconstruction, life, and order.”

”Thus, the focus of suturing revolves around two aspects: life, so it can survive, and order, so it can thrive.”

”This is the aim of hand surgery and suturing technique.”

”What is the core of tendon repair? Not only must tendons align, but they must have vitality and order. Their original connection and order were disrupted, and we need to reconstruct them.”

”Consequently, you need techniques like suturing the tendon core and surrounding areas to ensure better order and prognosis. Currently, all suturing techniques are centered around this core to refine surgical techniques.”

”To draw a comparison...”

As Lu Cheng attentively listened to Xie Yuan’an’s explanation, suddenly he felt an enlightening clarity flood his mind.

It not only distracted Lu Cheng but also made him understand many things instantly.

The mental panel began to disarray...
