System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”A new technology, from development to formal clinical application, must go through a lengthy cycle.”

”This safeguards the patients and also protects the surgeons.”

”That’s indeed quite troublesome; after such a long preparation period, it only ends up as a paper of several thousand words.” Lu Cheng finally grasped the overall concept of writing a paper.

Mu Nanshu continued, ”The type of paper also matters; some are trivial, and can be done entirely on a computer, such as meta-analysis or bioinformatics analysis.”

”Others require significant time, money, and energy to gather useful data.”

”The data you acquired previously was just a prelude to the project; it can only prove that this direction is generally viable, but the sample size is insufficient, and they’re not real clinical data.”

”If there’s a deviation in animal trials or species differences in clinical trials, the project is likely to fail prematurely.”

”However, technique-related papers rarely encounter this; it’s usually fundamental topics that have larger discrepancies.”

”My suggestion is to complete a part of the project proposal by yourself to gain experience as you should carry it out independently in the future.”

Mu Nanshu looked into Lu Cheng’s eyes, saying, ”Of course, I’ll be monitoring the whole process, since I also need to write a proposal...”

Lu Cheng laughed, ”Of course, you have to write it yourself. Once you learn how to write a proposal, you can publish any new surgeries developed later.”

”Otherwise, it would be quite embarrassing.”

”Next time?”

Mu Nanshu said, ”You’re quite confident, thinking you’ll have more opportunities to refine techniques next time?”

[Suturing Specialized Skills: Modified Kessler Suture Technique (Specialization 0/20), Modified Tang Method Suturing Skill (Specialization 6/20)... Spleen Tissue Suturing Skill (Beginner 2/5)...]

Spleen Tissue Suturing Skill, Lu Cheng hadn’t heard of this before.

”It should be there,” Lu Cheng affirmed decisively.

As Lu Cheng was speaking, his phone rang, the caller was marked as Peng Kun.

Lu Cheng thought for a while, then answered, ”Young Master Kun...”

”Brother Lu, please don’t tease me!~” Peng Kun’s voice carried a smile, yet the fatigue was unmistakable.

”Brother Lu, here’s the thing, Professor Tong he...”

Lu Cheng picked up his teacup, speaking calmly, ”Young Master Kun, you’re exaggerating.”

”I’m just a junior doctor, can’t meet those high standards you talk about.”

”Young Master Kun, my teaching skills are nothing compared to Professor Tong’s; I can’t guide you.”

After Peng Kun explained Tong Yuan’an’s arrangements, he expressed his desire to join Lu Cheng’s team, hoping Lu Cheng could offer him an opportunity.

Peng Kun’s words were nice, but his actions were quite daring.

Lu Cheng wasn’t Tong Yuan’an, if Peng Kun messed up, Lu Cheng couldn’t cover for him.

Thus, Lu Cheng could only avoid troublemakers like Peng Kun.

Lu Cheng had known Peng Kun liked ’personal dealings,’ but his stance had been clear; without earning his approval, Peng Kun couldn’t take control.

After receiving guidance from Professor Tong Yuan’an, Peng Kun stopped associating with Lu Cheng!

Now, Lu Cheng certainly wouldn’t go picking him up.

”Brother Lu, you know the current situation in orthopedics; I can only break through in hand surgery.”

”Indeed, I did something foolish last night, upsetting Professor Tong, but I promise there won’t be a next time.” Peng Kun’s voice was earnest.

Lu Cheng interrupted, ”Hey, Young Master Kun, you don’t need to promise me anything!”

”I’m not your teacher; your promises won’t work with me, you need to promise Professor Tong.”

”He’s the one with strong teaching skills; I’m just half-baked, can’t train students properly?”

Peng Kun pursued, ”Brother Lu...”

Lu Cheng spoke decisively, ”Young Master Kun, no need to say more, we are all junior doctors just making a living with our superiors.”

”Not to mention, we’re of the same age, neither of us accepts who trains who! Can’t lead, can’t lead, you can’t force it, can you?”

”There are plenty of learning opportunities, like private classes, advanced workshops.”

I indeed paid to learn techniques, although the department covered the costs, it’s still money, time, and effort, isn’t it?

Just because you’re Peng Haibo’s son, you should be treated specially?

Besides, doesn’t everyone upset their teacher sometimes!

Professor Chen Song is still angry, and Lu Cheng hasn’t figured out how to handle it.

”Brother Lu, sorry to bother you.” Peng Kun was wise enough not to morally bind Lu Cheng.

Lu Cheng didn’t owe Peng Kun anything.

Being willing to teach is a favor, unwilling to teach is duty.

Mu Nanshu quietly listened to Lu Cheng and Peng Kun’s dialogue about reality, without interrupting.

Even after the call ended, she didn’t ask about Peng Kun’s issue, ”When are you planning to go back?”

”It’s already past nine, you need to head out to get the car.”

Lu Cheng pondered for a moment, jokingly said, ”Nobody’s at home, can’t I stay?”

Mu Nanshu quickly retracted her legs, her pupils dilated slightly, hesitated for a moment, then shook her head, ”I haven’t made the bed here, and the blankets are my parents’.”

”If you don’t mind, you can sleep in the master bedroom.”

The Integrity Plaza apartment belonged to Mu Nanshu’s parents who usually resided in Long County, not Mu Nanshu’s place.

Housing in Long County was spacious, with two master bedrooms and two secondary bedrooms, still having a large living room.

The house prices weren’t high, a 180-square-meter apartment cost less than seven hundred thousand.

”Why the master bedroom?” Lu Cheng showed a mischievous smile.

Mu Nanshu studied Lu Cheng for a moment, ”No reason... you should go home to sleep.”

”You have a place to stay, don’t you?”

”Oh... did uncle and aunt install cameras here?” Lu Cheng suddenly understood.

Mu Nanshu naturally explained, ”The house is often empty, it’s safer to have cameras.”

Just as Lu Cheng was about to reply, a message from Tian Zhuang made him swallow his words, quickly showing Mu Nanshu, ”Look, another tendon injury, I have to go back now.”

Mu Nanshu relaxed, sticking her tongue out, playfully puffing her chest, ”Who’s to blame for not cherishing the opportunity yourself?”

”Now?”

On the day Lu Cheng went to Han City, Mu Nanshu didn’t plan to return; Lu Cheng insisted on taking her back.

”No more joking, I have to do surgery. Tomorrow I’ll pick you up to my place. I have Professor Tong’s office number; I can download literature from Zhongnan University’s library.” Lu Cheng said as he stood up.

Mu Nanshu stood up too, ”As if Hua Ke’s library can’t download literature.”

Lu Cheng slapped his forehead, ”Right... I forgot about that.”

Mu Nanshu grunted lightly, ”You just didn’t dare to think about it before?”

”Before I didn’t dare randomly wish for anything.”

”Without a worthwhile thing in hand, how can I trade for a future?” Lu Cheng didn’t argue, turning to leave.

Mu Nanshu only saw Lu Cheng to the door, not escorting him downstairs as she did in Han City.

The expected didn’t happen, and minutes after Lu Cheng left, her mother’s video call arrived.

Mu Nanshu answered the video call, smiling, ”Gone, gone, he’s gone.”

”Xiao Shu, I’m worried you’ll get taken advantage of.” Mu Nanshu’s mother’s eyes shifted around.

Mu Nanshu sat cross-legged, seemingly revitalized, ”Earlier when you wanted me to go on blind dates, you didn’t say the same thing.”

Mu Nanshu’s mother was silent for a moment, then said, ”You really made up your mind? Xiao Lu’s starting point is a bit low now.”

”You might find it difficult to be together in the future.”

The mother’s concerns were realistic, but Mu Nanshu had a response, ”Then explain how I’m taking paid leave to rest in Long County?”

”I can’t even do that.”

”I said he would find a way.”
