System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

The corridor outside the operating room was dimly lit!

Lu Cheng immediately took out his phone to look for Director Lin Qianlong’s number.

Someone happened to pass by: ”Xiao Lu, how’s the situation here? Director Lin said, once the tendon work in the emergency operating room is done, head over to the surgical operating room.”

The speaker was Zeng Huanqi, sent by Lin Qianlong to meet Lu Cheng, worried that Lu Cheng was being held up somewhere.

”Brother Zeng, I’m almost done here. Tian Zhuang and Du Daihua are in operating room 3, nothing special.”

After speaking, Lu Cheng added to Zeng Huanqi: ”Brother Zeng, later, help me check on Brother Zhang in operating room 2, see what they’re doing.”

”Don’t let anything happen.”

Zeng Huanqi immediately understood Lu Cheng’s intent: ”Don’t worry, Zhang Tiesheng surely knows what he’s doing.”

While speaking, Lu Cheng found Lin Qianlong’s phone number, and upon connecting, he immediately reported: ”Director Lin, I can’t handle the tendon revision surgery in emergency operating room 4. Could you ask Director Peng Haibo from orthopedics to arrange someone to take over?”

The call was probably picked up by a nurse and put on speaker, so Lu Cheng heard a lot of background noise.

”A little to the left.”

”Suction...”

”Vascular clamp, a bit higher...” The voices of Chen Song and others unfamiliar to Lu Cheng came one after another.

Lin Qianlong shouted: ”What tendon revision surgery? There’s no tendon revision in this emergency surgery!”

”Director Lin, you can ask Director Peng to inquire with Tian Hongjian and Peng Kun in orthopedics. When I got there, what they left for me was tendon revision surgery.”

”The difficulty of tendon revision is several to ten times that of direct suture for initial tendon injury. My skills are limited, and I can’t handle it.” Lu Cheng replied naturally without getting angry.

Being unable to handle something is not particularly embarrassing!

Lin Qianlong immediately said: ”Are they crazy? Didn’t Dean Zeng appoint you as the technical supervisor for tendon surgery?”

”Did they start tendon suturing without your assessment? Lu Cheng, you’ll have to be accountable for what you said!”

Lu Cheng said: ”I stand by what I said! But whether or not I’m the supervisor is still up for discussion. I now feel that Dean Zeng overestimated me.”

”I also took pictures.”

Lin Qianlong replied: ”Okay, I’ll call Peng Haibo in orthopedics immediately.”

Lu Cheng hung up, thinking that he still couldn’t handle the failed initial suture, tendon laceration of the flexor tendons.

Perhaps his skill was sufficient, but his understanding wasn’t. Lu Cheng had never dealt with revision surgery, so he could only leave it to Professor Tong Yuan’an.

Then, Lu Cheng quickly ran towards the surgical operating room, trying to join in on the emergency rescue work there as quickly as possible.

Midway, Lu Cheng’s phone rang, it was Peng Haibo.

”Lu Cheng? What’s going on? Didn’t Dean Zeng assign you to be in charge of tendon suturing? What does it mean to push it to our orthopedics?” Peng Haibo immediately questioned.

Lu Cheng said: ”Director Peng, I can handle initial tendon suturing, but I can’t do revision surgery!”

”Director Peng, you also don’t want me to state the truth bluntly, which would be embarrassing for everyone, right?”

On the other end, Peng Haibo was silent for a moment: ”Could you help us just this once?”

Given his understanding of Peng Kun, he guessed Peng Kun had stubbornly proceeded, causing issues.

Peng Kun thought Lu Cheng could help wrap things up, but the nature of the surgery had changed.

Yet, Peng Haibo was unwilling to alert Professor Tong Yuan’an, fearing it would reflect poorly on Peng Kun’s character.

”Director Peng, it’s not about helping, I really don’t know how. I’ve never done it, and no one taught me how!”

”You know I’m not one to abandon patients, it’s not in my character.”

”But I really don’t know how! So this help, I can’t offer.” Lu Cheng replied directly, without significant anger.

Lu Cheng was only angry at Peng Kun’s audacity, and didn’t feel Peng Kun was intentionally causing trouble by exploiting his appointment duration as tendon suture supervisor.

What time is it now?

Emergency rescue, Peng Kun doing all this, he might not even realize how serious it is, yet he intentionally joins the fray?

This scheme is too shoddy.

”You better consult with Professor Tong, he should have the experience.” Lu Cheng said.

There was a seven out of ten disbelief in Peng Haibo’s tone, suspecting Lu Cheng of intentionally kicking someone when they’re down to pin down Peng Kun’s faults: ”Really?”

”I really don’t know revision surgery! I swear!” Lu Cheng replied.

”Director Peng, I’m almost at the surgical operating room, Director Lin called me for something.” Lu Cheng hung up proactively.

In the operating room, Peng Haibo’s gaze turned a bit grim, but it was a fleeting moment.

No matter what, he still had to find ways to cover for Peng Kun’s situation.

Glancing again at the operating table: ”I’ll step out for a bit.”

Xiang Kuihua nodded: ”Director Peng, it’s almost done here, the rest can just let Lu Cheng take a look.”

...

Five minutes later, Professor Tong Yuan’an’s angry voice roared as he turned and questioned angrily: ”Director Peng, what do you think I am? What do you consider emergency surgery to be?”

After speaking, Tong Yuan’an turned directly, raised the suturing forceps, and slammed them angrily on the ground: ”Am I your slave?”

”What the hell?”

Many emergency patients, with finger replantations, Peng Haibo calling him to work overtime at dawn for the patient’s sake was excusable.

After all, they are all doctors; having to ask for help when a patient is beyond one’s ability is understandable.

But what is this now?

That Peng Kun knew he couldn’t do the Modified Tang Method, yet he proceeded? Damaged the tendon directly, and now wants to do an impromptu revision???

Am I supposed to be a slave to you and your son?

”Professor Tong, I’m sorry, Peng Kun is young and reckless, and he was impulsive, I apologize on his behalf.” Peng Haibo could only plead.

If not handled properly, Peng Kun might at least be warned, or at worst receive a major demerit, affecting his promotion for years.

”The patient is still on the operating table, hoping Professor Tong, for the patient’s sake, doesn’t count this against him for now.”

”Once things here are settled, I will personally handle him!~”

Tong Yuan’an said: ”I don’t need you to handle anything.”

”If he continues like this, next month I can only apply for a department transfer.”

”Professor Tong?” Peng Haibo’s expression looked grim, internally he had cursed Peng Kun half to death.

”Just wait!~”

”I haven’t even finished the finger replantations here, no time for this nonsense.” Tong Yuan’an returned to the operating table, picking up a needle holder again.

He wasn’t angry that Peng Haibo asked him to do surgery again, he was angry that Peng Kun completely disregarded the patient’s situation.

”What about Xiao Lu then?” Peng Haibo tentatively asked.

”The ruptured ones fall under the category of revision surgery, Xiao Lu hasn’t studied it, he can’t handle it.”

”Revision surgery is a routine category for our department, ordinary tendon ruptures we don’t handle.”

Tong Yuan’an said: ”Let them wait over there, I can’t break away here!~”

”It’s first come, first served.”

”Just a complete mess...” Tong Yuan’an wasn’t a person of good temper either, quite infuriated.

So much going on here keeping them busy, and yet some people lacking self-awareness create trouble.

Though Peng Haibo’s face looked unpleasant, hearing that Tong Yuan’an agreed, he could only smile despite himself.

Requesting help is just that difficult, so humiliating.
